A "happy ending" where they are together in the end IS a tragedy, is it not? I feel nuance is becoming a lost art. We don't have to trust nor like our main characters. We can look at the flow of the writing, the sound design, the lighting and know what they're telling us to think and feel- but know we shouldn't. In countries without heavy censorship, writers aren't obligated to have their works be bound by any morality nor ethical rules where good triumphs and evil is punished. Sometimes moths are enchanted by flames, and we just watch.
