FL owns a tea house in a seaside village where she has been banished after her parents were executed by the capital security services when her shop is invaded by criminals being pursued and her life is saved by a high ranking officer from the Capital Security services who is searching for a painting linked to the Empress which the FL owns. they head towards the capital persued by dark forces where she is joined by her friends and confronts her fiance who has done the dirty on her after passing the Imperial exam.

Molan was pregnant, killing an unborn child was as big a crime as killing a living person and would be one of the few thiings a parent would be prosecuted for as a capital crime. She never delivered the child.
it is in Minglan's personality that she had got vengeance for her mother. Molan was her sister and was no longer a threat, same with her father. As long as they knew not to mess with her, she was happy to have the happy home and family life she always craved.
Finished this Today and what a treat it was. It was a lot darker than I expected and even the hero's of the drama had dark sides to them. Such a well written drama which had me constantly engaged and on the edge of my seat throughout. Great cast too, all 3 kids were stella and the only criticism I could give to the villain was the wig!

She has some appearances in flashbacks in other episodes, but what a great performance in that first episode.
Apparently Nana and the young wood carver were supposed to be a couple but the male actor was only 17 when it was shot so they had to rewrite their parts. I agree though, Nana and Damai deserve a drama all of their own!

This is the essence of Minglan, she isn't like Yinglou in Yanxi or Sun Li's character in Empresses in the Palace. Her mother warns her on her death bed do not to be noticed keep your head down.
She is smart as any FL but to survive in that Toxic household she had to not be noticed, but all the time she is reading people and working out who she can trust and who she can't. when she strikes, she doesn't upfront them, she uses their flaws to destroy themselves and manipulates other to deal the blow. she only does this to people who cross her or involve her in their schemes. the brilliance of Minglan is that her targets are deserving but they have no idea why their downfall came about or who was responsible.
What a cracking little Drama! if I were to categorise it, it would be as China's 'Rain man'. The main leads are two friends one is obviously autistic but brilliant at maths, the other is a student playboy who lives with his older butcher sister. The maths genius accidently discovers that the taxes of the province has been corrupt for 100 years making land owners richer and forcing peasents to sell their land to the landowners. Also involved is an oily sleezy lawyer who is on the side of the landowners. it can sometimes seem overwhelming when they are discussing the intricacies of taxes, but what is fascinating is watching the reactions of the vested interests as they realise their schemes are unravelling but some chracters are not what they seem and there are constant twist and turns right up to very end.
Episode 3, the prostitute they question at the Hotpot resteraunt, I have seen that actress in another drama. Any idea what her name is, she doesn't seem to appear in the cast list.
