I love these leads together. Its nice fun and even how she foils the villainy of the dowager queen”s tests is funny. Interesting the influence of the writer, the shaman and impish child spirit as well as the FL being self aware as a character inserted into the story with modern knowledge and sensibilities are woven nicely in this drama
Everything shifts with the realization that it is a free for all for who will be the FL in this "story". Instead of being passive, the characters change the story with self determination. The author did challenge her to see if she could do better. Now is her chance to see if she can "write her own story". I am having fun with this and adore the ML character.
This is so funny! I also like how the FL switches the POV narration from talking out loud, to inner voice narration. So many moments I laughed out loud. They set the drama up nicely in episode 1 so by episode 2 it really takes off with some really funny moments. I love the writing and the cast is killing it. FL adorable, ML killing it - great supporting cast. I am having a ton of fun with this!
Regarding the transplant, I was super confused too and even went back a few scenes thinking it missed something.…
Thank you for confirming that I am not crazy and imagining things! I know that to move a story forward some awkward things happen in storytelling and I go with the flow. For some reason I am more troubled by this drama as it straddles 2 ideas. Tackling alcoholism which is prevalent in Kdramas and adding in rom/com elements. This is one drama which would have benefited with less is more
About the transplant - I don't know if I missed something, but Geum Ju coun't give because her liver was not acceptable to transplant. She then feels guilty. Then there is the news that there is a donor that was a match (brain dead?) But when we see the operation start, it is Geum Ju who is donating? Quite frankly I am surprized she didn't have cirrosis of the liver. And how dense and selfish is the father. The wife complains repeatedly that she is exhausted and dizzy, and he complains she isn't taking good care of him? What a loser! The other thing is the awful gossip - in both the small town and the horrible staff at the hospital. Why is it is dramas that people say "it's my fault" when someone dies due to actions of another or an unforseen situation - not a direct cause. I HATE that cliche and it needs to be retired. Then they end with the plot twist from the left field that the overly protective nurse want revenge for her sister? So many levels of crazy there. Oh well. it's just storytelling meant to entertain, but the writers need the confidence to tell their story without an overabundance of plots twist to squeeze the lemon dry on tension.
I like episodic dramas as well as the redemption arc. The elements of using the law to address wrongs is appealing. Especially fighting abuse of workers
I loved this mystery/thriller. Well constructed, kept me interested with each plot development and the revelation of the culprit made sense instead of something out from left field as there were clues that tied it together. They did conclude the story and left the door open for a season 2 without leaving the main story with inconclusive cliffhangers.
I am enjoying this show. I like the plot of a loser finding redemption by advocating for worker’s rights and finding justice for cases swept under the rug. I find the cause of workplace safety a topical issue that needs exposure. The exploitation of immigrant labor under threat of deportation resonates as well
This drama has a habit of blending in dreams, imaginative flashbacks, unreliable narrator plot devices so sometimes you have to be on your toes as to what is real and what isn't. I think for me, I am more comfortable with a more straightforward approach, I also wish crazy stalker trope would go away. There is plenty enough in this drama series to use for storytelling.
I love how we learn with each twin that what they assumed about each other wasn't true, and learning more about each other they gain sympathy for their twin AND lessons about resiliance they help them grow as well.
Episode 3 moves this drama along so well. The progression of rivals to friends feels natural and not forces, and love how the staff and friends of the small restaurant are pulling together.
Eun Ho callsHae Suk mom. She denies it but I think she has selective amnesia Then she tells the story of Eun Ho, and hen claims to be his mom. The TV producers say she lied but Center Director says there is no lying and it is the truth. Nak Joon confirms that Eun Ho is his and Hae Suks child. I am not convinced Somi is a younger version of Hae Suk as niether Hae Suk or Nak Joon recognize her as a younger version of Hae Suk
Nak Joon is also angry because of perhaps her role in abandoning the child. An earlier episode had Nak Joon being beaten up by another man, so I think that is a clue that she was actually involved with someone else. I think Eun Ho will be reincarnated so he can live a normal childhood
They reverse course too easily on the breakup. Discussed below in spoiler
He tried calling her several times and she doesn’t pick up. She got super drunk. I see no evidence that she is drinking because of any issue with her fiancee. Plus apparently gets drunk all the time. She doesn’t break up with him until HE confronts her about her drinking. He asks her to choose between him or alcohol. She chooses alcohol. So if he was going to initiate a breakup he could’ve done it then. Makes no sense and seems like a sudden plot twist to make us feel sympathy for the FL. Why didn’t she confront him about the infidelity? So she can be a martyr? alcoholism as comedy used to be a staple for comedy for many years on American TV until lately, so it’s been awhile and I am biased I guess with discomfort
