Watched 5 episodes and so far this is quite fun! The plot moves along at a decent speed, the FL seems to be independent and intelligent (which is a sad exception in this type of drama) and the ML is charming and sufficiently mysterious. They have good chemistry and their banter is quite funny, especially since the ML doesn't always feel bound to the usual chivalry of the genre.
With just 6 episodes out, it's a bit too early to say... I've watched 5 of them and so far no triangles or 2nd couples, but I have a feeling that more than one guy may become interested in the FL...
I'm already suffering from withdrawal symptoms of not getting new episodes. πWhy do they do this to us... Now…
I've started watching Warm on a Cold Night (the title appealed to me probably because it's cold over here with ice-rain this afternoon... π₯Άπ₯Άπ₯Ά) It's very different from this one, quirky, light-hearted and so far quite entertaining.
I don't know why but I like Deng Wei more than Jeremy Tsui in this drama. Something about him is very attracting…
The make-up in this drama looks like it's been applied by a half-blind 5-year-old who was practicing for Carnival... The white foundation and powder is way too thick and there is no contouring, which makes all their faces look like masks. Also, only the faces have been "whitened" but the necks are still their normal colour which only enhances the mask effect. Yeah, and they were very liberal with the eye-shadow, too. Strangely, only some of the people were subjected to this face-painting... the evil old immortal looks fairly normal... maybe his moustache would have interferred with the powdering.
Does anyone know if the OST will be on iTunes or not? If they're already not there? I searched but couldn't find…
It usually takes quite a while for the music to come to iTunes... (I'm waiting for stuff, too). If you cannot find a particular song of the OST it helps to either search with the artist's Chinese name or look for another song of the OST and so locate the album.
They changed the schedule. Apparently this happens quite often that once a drama is half-way through (and getting…
No, I think when a drama newly airs they always drop a few episodes in one go, so that people can get into it. I guess it also depends on the network, they all seem to have their own rules...

It's actually quite good... I've read the novel. I'm just not sure if they will do it justice with the way they usually re-write stuff to add love triangles and other cliches, or sweeten up everything.
i thought its supposed to be airing every day? why is it showing ep 23 will be out on 27th?
They changed the schedule. Apparently this happens quite often that once a drama is half-way through (and getting interesting) the reduce the number of episodes that are aired per week...
I've also watched some clips from Novoland 2 and his character, Xue Jing Kong is absolutely hilarious. He's such…
Yes, he seems to have a "must-take-his-shirt-off" clause in all of his contracts π π π I was already wondering in a post further down what would be the pretext this time... so far we've had injury, martial arts practice, bathing in some of his other dramas. Oh, it's getting hot in here... π₯π₯π₯
I don't understand where he suddenly got the sword from. Is this the one that he threw away or a new one? Also,…
Right, thanks! I remember now... I guess I should use the lack of new episodes over the weekend to re-watch some older episodes to make sure I don't miss any details... There seem to be so many little things that could become important later on.
Just finished watching episode 20... So YF saved the collective ass of the immortals once again, they really are…
I don't understand where he suddenly got the sword from. Is this the one that he threw away or a new one? Also, make-up here truly amateurish. In the underwater scene, where YF faints his face is all white, while his neck is still the usual colour π€¦ββοΈ
I've also watched some clips from Novoland 2 and his character, Xue Jing Kong is absolutely hilarious. He's such…
Why did you find Xue JingKong hilarious? I cannot remember him being this funny (maybe my mind went blank because he kept taking all these baths... π€). If you want to see JT in a funny role I can recommend Be My Princess. Some scenes are absolutely delirious πππ
I think Lou Ying Fan is very cool when he casts his spells. Iβm also impressed with his wardrobe, very elegant!…
Being different in each role is the hallmark of a true actor. I've only seen JT in roles were there was a lot more (inter-)action, so the stoic role here is quite a surprise and takes some getting used to. Even in Novoland2 he was a lot "livelier".
This drama plays a lot with subtleties and symbolism, which a lot of people miss because they focus on the plot…
Hmh, the stage is yet another level... most of my favourite actors started this way. I've once see Patrick Steward (yes, Captain Picard!) live on stage in a one-man version of "A Christmas Carol" with him playing all the roles. It was absolutely amazing! I don't know if there is much stage acting in China... someone with knowledge, please enlighten me.
Yes, I tried to read the translated online novel but I found it very difficult to read.
Same here, I just gave up after a few chapters because with the mixed up personal pronouns it becomes impossible to understand who does/says what. Plus the permanent switch between present and past tense drives me up the wall.
I know Chinese is difficult to translate but that is where the job of a translator becomes important and some people do absolutely amazing translations! Just pushing a text through a machine without even proof-reading the result, however, is just doing a lousy job.
is this good ? idk if i should start this or song of the moon first
It depends on what your expectations are. This one is slow to develop and plays a lot on subtleties (especially in the first few episodes). The ML in this and in Song of the Moon couldn't be more different. One is the silent/stoic type (there may be an abyss underneath the veneer, though) the other one is a chatterbox. The storyline in Song of the Moon was very cliched, including the obsessive stalker SFL, whereas this one is trying to break the mold by showing grey characters and people transgressing what some regard as unbreakable moral code in xianxia/wuxia to explore the depths of human emotions/passions.
The plot moves along at a decent speed, the FL seems to be independent and intelligent (which is a sad exception in this type of drama) and the ML is charming and sufficiently mysterious.
