That's why I'm watching this very slowly, so that I have a few "buffer episode" in case something terrible (breakup, accident, etc.) happens. I don't want to see this happen in the last available episode and then wait a week or two for it to be resolved.

Die Höhe der Bewertung beruht auf der Qualität der Produktion und Leistung der Schauspieler. Sie hat wenig damit zu tun ob einem die Handlungstränge gefallen oder nicht. Wenn das Ganze so glaubwürdig rüber kam dass du dich darüber geärgert hast dann hat der Darsteller (Luo YunXi) seinen Job hervorragend gemacht und verdient eine hohe Bewertung.
Eine derartige Behandlung junger Frauen seitens ihrer Familie gibt es in China und vielen anderen Ländern der Welt sicher noch häufiger als einem lieb ist und da finde ich es gut dass eine Serie dies thematisiert. Den Mut der Produzenten und des Darstellers ein derart heikles Thema anzupacken sollte man bewundern anstatt das Drama abzuwerten., nur weil Luo YunXi mal nicht den romantischen Helden gibt.
Selbst in unserem angeblich so fortschrittlichen Mitteleurope kommt es doch immer noch vor dass junge Frauen in den Flieger gesetzt und zurück ins Heimatland der Eltern geschickt werden, nur weil sie mit dem falschen Freund nach Hause kommen. Das Ganze ist also keineswegs aus der Luft gegriffen.

Yeah, he is like some friends that everyone has. Occasionally annoying, but a good friend when it counts.
I'm only on ep. 13 and at the moment the ones that annoy me the most are Dr Cai (he is such a slime-bag!) and Luo Yuan. The way she keeps pursuing a guy who obviously shows no interest could be qualified as stalking and shows a total lack of self-respect. Not the kind of woman I would ever get on with...
On the other hand, the supposedly "cold" Zhan Yan I find her perfectly normal.

I get what you're saying. He always chooses challenging and tragic roles, seems he likes to make us cry 😂
Still, I think that while the previous roles that I have seen (did not watch Broker + Lie to Love) were often emotionally challenged people because of their past, none of them had the arrogant abrasiveness of Luo Ben. Even Yuan Shuai, despite his superiority complex was quite charming and probably every mother's favourite son-in-law.
This being said, I quite enjoy what he's doing with the role, but then I also enjoy watching a good villain because I admire the acting skills, whereas most people like or dislike the actor for the role that he is playing.
Looking forward to Til the End of the Moon... I have yet to read the book, so don't know how evil the Evil Demon King will be 😊

It looks like some people can't cope with the flawed ML...
They got too used to LYX playing the white knight graciously floating to everyone's aid.
It kind of reminds me of the backlash Viggo Mortensen received for his role as cowardly opportunist in "Good". The film was good and carried a very important message, the acting was brilliant, but it just wasn't what people expected from their "action hero" after seeing him in LOTR and Eastern Promises.
It must be very tough for actors to work against be type-cast like this.

Yeah, he really is slap-worthy in quite a few scenes. The way he has to tell everyone how to do their job! Talking to the rescuers "please save my sister", the talking to the doctor "please heal my sister". I mean, what did he think they were going to do? Play chess with her?

I really applaud the writers (and the actor) for giving us such a flawed ML. It makes him all more likable and real in the end.

Yes, being a skinny one myself I sympathise as I know that it has never stopped me from doing anything I wanted, be it martial arts, horse riding or moving furniture.
I have to stay away from the LCR page at the moment because all this negativity (under the guise of "concern for his health") makes my blood curl.

It is rather sad that all the negative comments about him being too skinny to play a rescuer made him feel the need to prove that he can lift some weights.
If anyone had said an actress was too chubby to play a martial artists the political correctness league would have been up in arms...

Dropped it after ep. 38... This had the potential to be a thrilling story, but somehow the writers lost the plot. After what felt like a million pointless twists and turns and the umpteenth break-up I got so bored that I couldn't take it anymore.
The SML is the only engaging character in this whole drame. The FL is so bland that it is hard to sympathise with her and the ML feels totally indifferent, no matter what happens. There is absolutely no chemistry between the two.
A lot of screen-time is taken up by the antagonists repeating the same threats and schemes over and over. They come across more like cartoon characters than real people.

Looked at this because it was new on Viki but considering the reviews and comments I'll give this a miss. Had a look at the screenwriter and saw that it's the same person who was responsible for the storyline of "Legend of Yunxi" going around in circles (again, too much screentime for side-characters' pointless plotting) and completely tanking towards the end.

There seems to be a clear pattern in the way this guy butchers a story...

I'll be saving this for a rainy day (literally, as winter is going to be tough for me). Right now I still have to finish Ever Night. It's nice to know there's something good to look forward to...

Same here, even though I started the journey through C-drama land a bit before the pandemic when I discovered The Rise of Phoenixes on Netflix. It's akin to starting your drug-career with crack-heroin!!! Hooked from ep.1!
It took a while before I came across AoL, which I really hated because of the borderline-stalker ML and the annoyingly dopey FL. For me it had only ONE redeeming feature: RunYu. Somehow despite me screaming at the screen repeatedly the FL couldn't be convinced that he was a much better choice, so I dropped this drama.
Since then, discovered more great dramas, webnovels and soundtracks, never a boring day!

Watched ep. 1 last night. I normally only watch costume dramas, so making an exception for Luo Yunxi. First impression is good, so will see how this continues...

What do you mean by "censored somehow"? I've only read the online translation which was quite a mess because it was done by different translators without overall editing, but I didn't have the impression that there was something taken out...
