Fellow MDLers, people on personal crusades cannot be reasoned with. By responding, you're feeding their desire for conflict (I've been reminded of this the hard way 😬). Ignoring outrageous comments is the best way to combat them (report and/or block if they become inappropriate).

Drama pages always get particularly toxic right after a drama ends, for some reason (especially popular ones). Visiting just now reminded me of this. *sigh* Always a bone to pick, always people to rile...

Yes, I thought this one was a lot of fun, too! It's in this show that I started noticing JSJ as well; he was perfect in this role and is great with the ML. It has a lower rating than I think it deserves, as it doesn't have a weak second half and is a coherent story with lots of heart and good friendships!

Oh, wow, I already feel like I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel with Kdramas and I haven't seen as many as you, so I can imagine it's getting tough! 😅 But my Kdrama bottom of the barrel scraping has caused me to venture into Cdramas, but it seems you've been doing both simultaneously. I just started dipping my toes this summer. ☺️
I see you liked Meteor Garden; have you seen F4 Thailand? I haven't seen Meteor Garden, but I have seen the Korean BOFs and large chunks of the Jdrama, but the Thai version was my favorite. It's more low budget as far as production value and at times in the acting, but the character arcs/script/characterization are well done! Much more focused and less filler and no meandering. I also really liked some changes they made to the ending!
So, anyway, I think this drama has some of those things you're looking for, but it's hard to tell. A lot of the dramas I liked you rated lower so I'm not sure if my taste can speak to yours. There are definitely themes of family (the ML's relationship with his little bro is pretty sweet), a bit of romance, and I absolutely adore Lee Yeon (the ML). I've seen a lot of MLs, but I really like his breezy, nonchalant way about him that hides smart schemes and deep care for those he loves (he feels a bit like Fan Xian from Joy of Life, if you've seen that, but actually more serious and devoted; Lee Yeon acts like he doesn't give a darn most of the time, but it's a facade). I only found the later episodes of this a bit draggy (typical Kdrama pitfall! But it wasn't abject failure or super boring, it just got a bit less focused). I think you'll feel like there are things you've seen before, haha, but I'm almost at 200 dramas and I still felt like there were some things that felt fresh and innovative. Do you mind horror or creepy stuff, like zombies and suspense? There's a hint of that in this, too. Have you seen/did you like Hotel De Luna or Uncanny Counter? There are a few things about this that remind me of those two dramas as well. I don't know if that helps!
I see you just finished My Roommate Is A Gumiho and I found that super boring. This is much more fun and interesting, I think. 🤷♀️

I thought I'd dislike it but it piqued my curiosity as I've heard people speak highly of it on other threads and it held a decent rating after being watched by more people than average on this site (113,000 watchers is pretty high for this site). So I gave it a shot and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a bit horror-y at times for me, but I loved the ML's character and his relationship with his brother, and I thought the Korean folklore included was neat. Also, beautiful BGMs. :) I had no expectations going into, so that helped, too. Maybe some had it too hyped for them? 🤷♀️

I'd only read or watch something like that if I was going to discuss it with someone for some constructive reason (and that's only if there was something profound I could maybe learn from it), otherwise, I like my entertainment more uplifting and encouraging. It doesn't have to be a bed of roses, but I've got to have someone to root for. 😅 That's my bottom line.
