It's a cable drama airing on tvN - so not OTT, but not a network drama either. Like the US, cable TV in South…
Thank you! This helps a bit, but I guess I'm still a bit confused by how the airing works then, haha. I thought I understood but I guess I don't.
Someone was chewing people out in the comments section on Queen Woo for being "ignorant" and "behind the times" for being shocked at the sex and nudity in a Kdrama when they "shouldn't have been" because it's apparently an OTT drama and the mature rating means something different there than for other platforms/networks releasing content? I just thought it was a little condescending considering that kind of content HAS historically been quite rare in Kdramas in general and many watchers aren't used to encountering that sort of content (even those with mature ratings), which I think is why people were reacting so much. Not everyone tracks the platforms releasing stuff religiously, either, and so they might stumble into content they didn't expect. Netflix and Disney+ obviously do their own thing as far as Kdramas go, but I realized I'll need to do more to parse through the distinctions that will begin to arise for who releases what and what to expect from ratings and such.
It seems the definition of a "Kdrama" and what can be expected from one is beginning to expand and I guess I need to keep up with the expanding definition better and where my preferences land within it. ๐ Oh well. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I just wondered about this one since I saw people mentioning orgasms as conversation coming up in the drama (I imagine it was still a fairly small reference? But I was still like, "Did I read that correctly?" ๐ ) and it felt very unusual and out-of-place (like the Queen Woo content) which is why I asked. ๐ I wanted to avoid being labeled "ignorant" but I'm probably not succeeding. Anyway, thanks for responding!
both leads are adorable but just to be completely honest, he deserves better.absolutely no hate towards fml, i…
Random aside, but I think it's kind of weird how they don't show much smoking in Kdramas despite the fact that it's SUPER common in Korea. It seems the only representation that's accurate in Kdramas when portraying substance use in Korea is the alcohol consumption. ๐
Last thing: Seok Ryu's ex is not in the cast list, or is he? Also, the little girl connected to Dan Oh is listed as a "guest role" and is just called "park girl"...? But I imagine she'll have a bigger role than that, probably?
I haven't watched Episode 6 yet, so maybe this gets answered in that episode, but why isn't one of the four "Lavender" friends' son friends with Mo Eum, Seok Ryu and Seung Hyo (the friend who dragged all the moms to the buddhist temple to pray)? Wondering if I missed something?
I'm sure someone has said this already, but I love how both sets of leads live "Next Door." It's nice when the title sets up our expectations like that. :)
That seems a pretty heavy topic and situation for a Kdrama Rom-Com, not impossible. And Iโm not saying youโre…
Yes, I agree with you on this. Also, coworkers in the U.S. wouldn't talk about a pregnancy like that at work as something "embarassing" even for an engaged or dating couple. Unlikely, I'd say!
In The Real Has Come or Fated To Love You they worked the FLs' pregnancies while only dating someone into the whole plot, and I think that's usually a character's entire arc if that happens and they're a lead. Kdramas usually take having babies very seriously. ๐
In episode 5, it's mentioned that FL took a year off from Greip. Do you think she got pregnant and had a baby? And…
I think the pregnancy is a stretch, but we'll see! Chris made it seem like it was some embarrassing thing that she took off work for, and that's just not how coworkers in the U.S. would respond to someone at their workplace getting pregnant. It's fairly common in the U.S. for dating and engaged couples to have kids. So I think not on the pregnancy. Maybe she had embarrassing panic attacks in the middle of meetings or something more along those lines?
As for Dan Ho, I think it's possible. I also wonder if he adopted her? But I'm not sure if single men can do that in Korea. ๐ I could see some woman he got entangled with or helped at some point through work convincing him to take the baby for her because she can't and then he becomes the child's "dad" (though he's really just a guardian) because he's a bleeding heart. Just a theory! I could also see her mom coming back to create trouble with him and Mo Eum as the story progresses as another possibility. ๐โโ๏ธ
ngl i'm kinda disappointed in the storyline so far. ep 1 & 2 started off pretty well, but what followed was really…
Well, it is slow burn mixed with slice of life (which is probably the filler scenes you're talking about) so it will progress slowly, especially since they don't seem to have a serial killer side plot. ๐
This is going great guys.Every time Kdrama hit me with that: "Parent sacrifice almost everything for their family".…
I don't think anyone knows about him cheating on her yet. I kinda hope they all find out while he's in Korea so everyone can gang up on him and make him feel like a lowlife on her behalf! ๐
Who is the actress playing Seung-Hyo's ex?Is she the same with Seo Dan from CLoY, for me they looks similar but…
I thought she looked so different! Like I can tell she's the same actress but at the same time she felt unfamiliar. Maybe it's because I haven't heard her speak without the North Korean accent?

I'm taking notes: "DON'T watch the Frog. I probably don't have a high enough IQ to enjoy it."
