I love this series so freaking much!!! The lead actress did jar me a bit, as she does not seem like your typical sageuk female lead, but I think that worked in her favor. She is so funny, and her action scenes are some of the best I have ever seen! Whoever choreographed her fight scenes did an amazing job. While I agree the age gap is noticeable, I also didn't mind it at all and you forget about it very quickly. Their romance scenes are so adorable and sweet, and just the right amount of spice. I only wish the last scene was just a little bit longer (if you know what I mean). The rest of the cast is great as well, and I loved the side romance with the ML's brother. Highly recommend!
Go call your mom right now and say hi, or if you are near, go give her a hug! This series will make you cry from both happiness and sadness, but the end will be satisfying. It's a slow burn in terms of the romance, but the pace is very nice and it didn't really feel that lacking. I understand why they made her that way, but I found the FL a bit annoying in the first half with how timid she was, but she got better as the series progressed. Still, I don't think she's the best crier. They seemed really forced to me. Yong Sik (played by Kang Ha Neul) is the greenest of flags that ever waved. He is so freaking wholesome and Kang Ha Neul is so good at being goofy and fun one minute, then downright sexy the next. I freaking love him!
This was way more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be! All the tropes you expect are there, but also not in the same way which makes it interesting. I was excited to watch every episode, even when I knew the ball was going to drop, but how it was handled was amazing. Unlike other times when that kind of drama happens, it's usually over something ridiculous, but this time he really had a good reason to not only be upset, but to be really hurt. I love how his disability is shown to really affect him and how it makes him feel. There is even the point made in one episode about what the big deal is if one can't see faces, and he makes it so clear why it's so important to him. That's beautiful. Also, Veronica Park is the MVP! They could have made her so annoying, but she's so charming and one of the best things about this show.
The themes in this drama are A LOT darker than I thought it would be. I know it was tagged as a melodrama, but I think there are plenty of horror elements too. I respect it for taking those risks, but I had to downgrade it half a point for the ending. I don't care what goes on in the middle, as long as there's a good ending.
My expectations going in were that I was going to like Jiwon more than Jeongwoo, but it turned out to be the complete opposite. I think Jiwon was actually kind of a jerk to Jeongwoo for much of their budding relationship. Jiwon's fears and feelings are totally valid, but he never thought to consider what Jeongwoo was going through. All those times he denied their relationship and kept saying over and over how he wants to keep them a secret, probably really hurt Jeongwoo. Sure Jiwon has never been in a relationship before, but Jeongwoo has never been in a relationship with a man, and they could have discussed this as a bonding moment. They are both navigating new territory, and I just think Jiwon should have been more considerate with Jeongwoo's effort. On another note, the other two in their quartet are fantastic and I love them! I would love to see a spin-off series with those two as the focus. Even just a few episodes would be enough. Eunho is the absolute MVP!
This is the funniest rom-com I have seen in a long while! You have many of the usual tropes, but they somehow work in this series. I love all the characters. The only thing that brings my rating down just a bit were the main couple's romance scenes. They were definitely adorable, and a lot of the humor came from Seo JiHwan doing the absolute most around her, but their kissing scenes were just kind of meh. Which is interesting because the second lead couple showed some pretty steamy scenes that were hot. So I don't know why they didn't. I guess it's because the ML has never dated before or been intimate with anyone before, so I guess it's good they didn't force it. But still, a bit more tension would have been nice.
I thought this was going to be melodramatic, but was pleasantly surprised at the comedy and light feel for most of it. I don't like really heavy dramas, so this was great for me. Also, the empathic male lead is new for me and I think it complimented the female lead well. I gave it an 8.5, but I think it's at least a solid 8. I also have never seen Lee Jong Won in anything before and I adore him now!
The production is AMAZING! Like the camera work is so beautiful. The scene on the train took my breath away. That being said, it's a very subtle drama that you have to really read their facial expressions to get the whole story. And even then it feels some parts are missing. Their chemistry is ELECTRIFYING though! It's so palpable that I wish there was more romance.
Buckle up for this roller coaster! A lot is thrown at you for this season, and some good, some not so good. I didn't like the endings for some of the characters, and it wasn't until the end that I finally understood who the main characters were supposed to be. I was really rooting for two characters in particular and that went up in flames (not literally). I really wish they had better.
I've been looking for a saeguk bl, and I finally found one! It's really cute, but goes by so fast! It doesn't have a lot of substance, but the actors just make it work.
It was cute. There were some moments that I thought he was a bit too pushy, but overall I can see why people like it. For those that are used to modern dramas, the editing is going to be a bit jarring, but you get used to it. I love that in this drama, the couple has so many kiss scenes, as I think couples should. Rather than seeing one or two at the most. Worth a watch if you want something quick and light.
We all wish the best for him! I wasn't around back when he went on hiatus, but even so, I am mad it got that far. The stigma has slightly changed now and I hope this means good things in the future.
I was so excited for this series that I had to keep myself busy in order to wait until all the episodes were out in case I wanted to binge. However, the series I was hoping for was barely there. It's GORGEOUS to look at, and the actors and costumes are all pretty, but the story is really clunky. The tone is all over the place. Sometimes the music is mismatched with what the character's mood is supposed to be. There are also weird cuts and edits that are really jarring. I did get invested a few times in the series, but the end was a bit of a struggle to get through.
Also, Veronica Park is the MVP! They could have made her so annoying, but she's so charming and one of the best things about this show.
