Why does Pei WenXuan want to marry the princess? People usually run from their ex, and he wants to marry her?!
They never really got close in the previous life and he always had feelings for her. Now he wants to protect her and knows that all the other choices for husband would lead to her downfall. Plus he is a meddler who always thinks he knows best!
The only reason I never watched Yanxi Palace is I absolutely loathe harem dramas. But WJY performance here is…
I was the same, I avoided Yanxi Palace for so long due to usually disliking palace intrigue and Qing dynasty in particular. But when I decided to give it a try last week I realized how utterly wrong I had been! I was glued to the screen, every single character has AMAZING depth, even the villains - you completely understand all of their actions. The script is so smart and thereâs not a single boring moment. Do watch it as soon as you possibly can, you wonât regret it.

"When did you stop scolding and start kneeling?"Deng Zi Yue is the representation of all those people who are…
I could really relate to him in that scene!! I think anyone who grows up idealistic and is then crushed into submission can relate! Everyone should have a Fan Xian! đ„č
This drama is the exact opposite of Blossoms in Adversity in that nobody ever explains things, talks honestly to each other, nor clears up any misunderstandings. Thus they just fester endlessly making everyone unnecessarily miserable!
Nobody recognize GYX once he put on the mask? I mean, nobody got curls like him. LOLOL
Itâs just how the universe works in dramas, just like nobody can tell that someone is a girl as long as they wear their hair in a male-style topknot, but suddenly see it the moment she lets it down.
THIS WAS MY ISSUE WITH HIM TOO. I was like, 'are you fucking serious right now' when he just 'well, you don't…
I disagree, sheâs very childlike and he wanted to preserve her innocence without disturbing her by bringing up topics that have never occurred to her. Thatâs why he was so careful and vague, he assumes that just like a child sheâs just never had a sexual urge before and doesnât want to harass her if that is something she just doesnât feel herself. He thinks that all sheâs ever felt for him is friendship, and that heâs the only one in love. And frankly, he may very well be right!
do historical romance dramas always tend to be like this?i dont watch much thats why asking, the romance part…
They already kissed in an earlier episode, after his father had died. Iâm sure they will again when theyâre married! Overall, historical dramas are varied and youâll find some with lots of romance and affection and some with none. E.g. The Generalâs Lady has lots of affection and kissing. Anything with Richard Li usually features a lot of kissing because heâs so good at it. Story of Kunning Palace, while making you wait a long time, has very passionate kiss scenes (they start out as non-consensual, though, so donât watch if that bothers you, but the couple are together in real life and you can tell their kisses are real). Other dramas such as The Long Ballad have no kisses at all (itâs still good, though).
