Gets to your heart

This was one of the most touching dramas I’ve ever seen. Because it hits you on a close level close to your heart.

Ogiwara Saki is a 32 year old woman with quirks and habits that define her.
Even though this drama has only 10 episodes you grow fond of each character (more or less).
Saki-san’s dream is to be a lawyer for justice, she has very firm ideals and beliefs which make her a very righteous person by itself.
Throughout the whole drama she is a fish swimming against the current, proving the people around her that they can find their happiness if only they find the courage to be more true to themselves and their innermost feelings.

I won’t spoil anything, but I will say that this drama doesn’t have romance in its centre. It has a lot of funny moments, and it teaches you that sometimes it’s truly better for oneself to seek out one’s own happiness instead of societal ideals like marriage. There are also a lot of sad moments, I cried and laughed together with them all and I learned a lot thanks to this drama.
If I had to sum up the motto of this drama it’d be: Don’t give up your dreams if you truly believe in it, even if it’s hard, nothing is impossible.

Saki’s firm beliefs made me feel more confident about my own ones. Because I too think that it’s hard to be an honest, altruistic person nowadays, but even if it’s not the easiest choice like Saki too shows in her daily life, it’s the best choice. Saki shows that it’s okay to be angry, sad, frustrated and that it’s okay to ask for help. She and her friends show what true friendship is and that life really holds several surprises. There was everything in this drama, she lost a lot and she found a lot.

The acting was just amazing, especially Saki was not an easy role because she had to express her feelings differently than you might be used to see on screen. And that’s what makes it so memorable, I felt with Saki and knew what she felt and when. Amazing actors in this underrated drama that I randomly stumbled upon ^^

Thanks for reading. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed by this (hopefully).

Ps: I really don’t like Michael Jackson but the scenes made it easier to bear his music lol

Messed up second half

I started watching this drama in October, thinking that it would be light and easy to finish. I was wrong. I took several breaks and a long break at episode 10 because it started to feel heavy and repetitive.

The story revolves around Eun Ha Won who is a righteous person with very strong morals (the only person I finished this drama for). She is invited to live in a big mansion by a rich chairman who wants her help to get his three grandsons closer and to decide who will be his successor.
His three grandsons are very different right from the beginning (and that is intentional). There’s the “flirter”, the popstar and the tough guy.
So, Eun Ha Won leaves the apartment where she was thrown out by her stepmother and stepsister (two actresses who did their job well by making you not be able to stand them :)) and moves into this mansion.

I liked how she tries to get these three stepsons together at the beginning, trying to make them understand what a family feels like. But the more you go into the story, the further the story drifts away from the initial storyline.

Especially after the second female lead appears, which is the “flirter’s” old flame. And I’m sorry to say this but her acting was awful, it seemed like she was only able to express two or at most three different feelings on her face…
She is almost obsessive over the flirter and is so sure of herself that he feels the same way as her and that they’ll get back together.
This goes on for too many episodes and it’s painful to watch because it seems so unnatural and like her only reason to be in the drama is so that the boys have something to fight over (because she is also the tough boy’s friend).

If they had kept the same story direction from the start, it might have been a better drama. But the way they made it it’s just a confusing story with unnecessarily many twists and turns from the second half of the drama onwards that make it impossible to see the three brothers really get closer and the relationships between the FL and the brothers develop. (Also, the popstar really does feel like a half outcast…)

I will not rewatch this but I hope I was able to convey my feelings in all sincerity.
The actors really weren’t the problem as much as the squiggly storyline.
Thanks for reading :)

Unpolished gem

I watched this not knowing the two main leads (and I don’t think my opinion would have changed).
The story is not bad really, the problem is that these two went from haters to friends supposed to be lovers, without any moments that showed them truly have a close relationship.
So basically the producers didn’t manage to convey their closeness in the scenes (they really look like at most acquaintances/friends until the end of the movie).
I don’t think I’ll watch this again, the beginning was okay and then I lost more and more interest throughout the movie.
Maybe with some more time they could have done something better out of this.

Fluffy and simple

This is my first drama review ever, so I hope I'll be able to express my opinion as clearly as possible :)

The story is not too complicated once you get into the first couple of episodes. It's very nice to see the FL and ML relationship have their ups and downs. There were episodes that were heartbreaking to watch and others that were pure joy.
There are like always some holes in drama storylines (from my experience so far) but this drama barely had any. That's why I found it easy to follow and not be confused about the relationships everyone had with each other.

One thing I really like is the FL's strong character and will. That's probably why I liked her since the beginning. She's someone who does what she believes in and doesn't give up. She brings out the ML out of his solitary place and could be seen as his 'saviour' (why always the ladies though? xD).

I think I continued watching more for the characters and their relationships with each other, than the actual story lol. I liked the fact that all side characters were strongly present and that they weren't warm from the beginning (which added credibility).
The beginning might be confusing, but if you search for a drama where the ML finds a "robot" (person in disguise) who helps him bring back relationships and people in his life then why not give this drama a try.

Thanks for having read my review, I'll try my best improve my review writing skills and I hope you liked or will like the drama as much as I did or maybe even more ;D

PS: The scenes with foreigners always crack me up, and I don't know if it's the suddden English or the fact that they always need to be pretend to be either from the UK or US

Lovely atmosphere

I randomly came across this movie (like most things that I watch) and can say that it wasn’t half bad.

You easily get into the story and you can nicely see how the relationships between the 6 family members slowly warms up. It doesn’t really have any funny moments (definitely not a rom-com). But it has more moments that make you think about relationships with other people and how they form.

I didn’t find the acting to be anything particular (it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t exceptionally good either). Nevertheless I think that Miki and Yuu were great actors when they weren’t saying anything. Silence is a powerful method to focus on the feelings of the two main characters during different moments.
So what I exceptionally liked about this movie is that it felt very natural, in a lot of dramas and movies they put too much music so that you can’t really get into the world the actors are in. But here it felt so raw, you could hear background noises and the scenes were often filmed from afar so that you could see their movements from far away, as if you were really there.
Another thing I really liked was the warm and natural lightning throughout the whole movie, they often tried to have a warm yellow light and sometimes orange colours (maybe all to fit better to marmalade).

The two main leads had their differences but understood each other with their heart. The scenes where they were affectionate to each other were the best and especially the hugs were something so important to show their closeness. I feel like there should be more hugs in dramas…

This is probably not a movie I’m going to rewatch, but it’s a good one time thing worth your time if you like a story between two teens complementing each other and falling in love with each other in a confusing family setting.

Ps: This review might be a mess xD there was too much I wanted to mention but it’s mostly such subtle details that I had a hard time focusing on the most important things. Thanks for reading :)
