I really want to spoil the book lol cause they cut a scene that would've explain why the brother was so vehemently…
It's long, so bear with me.
So what happened with lil bro and QL was very different than in the book. QL accidentally met YC at the bar without lil bro, and QL thought YC was his lil bro because in the book they look a lot like each other (which is probably why they didn't do it in the series), and QL mistook him for lil bro. They met again, and long story short, YC had sex with QL in a car, and QL carried YC to lil bro apartement cause he thought YC is the lil bro. But lil bro opened the door, but after the revelation, lil bro actually force QL to date YC, which QL agreed. through out their dating, lil bro made sure QL be the perfect LF and the charade was continue but QL actually liked lil bro, and YC still hung up on LF which irritated QL as well. Then the almond cake things happens like in the show, but QL had sex with YC afterwards, calling YC name, but actually calling the lil bro (cause lil bro and YC both had the same name, Yi Chen), and YC had the forboding feeling that QL wasn't calling him. But YC found LF was engaged, so he decided to fully forget him and focus on QL, but when he got into his brother flat, QL was there fighting lil bro basically revealing the whole charade to YC, and QL was basically non-challantly apologizing to YC for mistaking him and had sex with him thinking he was his lil bro, and YC ran away, after falling from the stair iirc, leaving lil bro and QL to another city.
So basically when LF accused YC of sleeping with other men, YC couldn't retort back because he HAD sleep with someone else, and that person was QL thanks to the lil bro. And at the scene where LF was fighting with Lil bro, and revealed this, lil bro basically went livid because he was actually the reason why YC couldn't be, "I am always faithful to LF and never had sex with someone else" because lil bro made him date QL. He was projecting his guilt to LF because he was angry that he himself was the reason LF could accuse YC of being unfaithful, even though, despite having relationship with QL, LF was the one in YC's mind.
I don’t think anyone is trying to justify Lu Feng’s actions. it’s clear as day what he has done. The thing…
No one romanticizing the SA, not even the sourcebook. They paid a huge price for it, both LF and, sadly, YC too cause the victim always paid the biggest price.
it will get worst later if you dont know the original. its best not to watch if you arent comfortable. there is…
It is not romanticized, tho people would tell you it is just because they ended up together. But the series, at least the book, was not holding back about effects of the SAs that the ml did to the mc.
The brother is a total jerk. Firstly, that nosy prick has the nerve to accuse Lu Feng of being selfish and irresponsible…
I really want to spoil the book lol cause they cut a scene that would've explain why the brother was so vehemently pitting the blame on Lu Feng in that fight.
I don't know about the novel as I have never read it, but what was that change in character in Lu Feng? I wasn't…
that he held back from slapping YC. in the book, LF slapped YC until he could taste blood in his mouth. LF had always been foreshadowed of this mind you from the 2nd chapter I believe, but where YC would get bruises just from their playful rough-housing (which they didn't show in the series), that he wasn't aware of his own strength.
And the brother is totally weird imo; he was constantly saying to Lu Feng that he hadn't written a thing and blaming…
There was a something important cut from the whole thing in the series, which was Qin Lang arc that the brother played a role in. In the book, he was saying that from guilt cause he essentially was the one who gave LF his reason to justify himself in that fight.
the biggest problem with this is that the show actually make light of what little brother did to the book, and…
Qin Lang actually mistook Yi Chen for his younger brother, long story short, they eventually fucked after a few days when Yi Chen was drunk and sad, and Qin Lang brought Yi Chen to the little brother's place, because he thought Yi Chen was the little bro, and that's how the little bro found out about them and forced Qin Lang to be with Yi Chen to replace Lu Feng in Yi Chen's heart.
It was much more painful in the book, and definitely a lot bitter. Yi Chen didn't part with the little bro, he ran away, and little bro didn't know his whereabout.
it's not about the "Toxicity" because, contrary to the purist sanitize woke people believe, this story doesn't actually romanticize the toxicity or that the "toxicity" is what matters, but rather the impact of that toxicity.
There are reasons why Qin Lang's attitude after he mistook Yi Chen for his younger brother and still carry on having sex and relationship with him as well as the little brother's insistence for Qin Lang to carry on the charade have a huge impact on the story. When Yi Chen put on that ring and said, "I am betting all of my dignity that I have left" he really meant that after what Qin Lang and little brother did to him. It was what shaped him to be the man he would become just as all of the previous events happening shaped Lu Feng to be the man he would become.
They scared us so much of the toxicity and honestly it wasn't that much, I think the creators wanted to appeal…
This is exactly why I don't like the episode 4 as much when it comes to the impact of Qin Lang and what his little brother did, if I am honest. Don't get me wrong, I still think it was a stellar adaptation, but yeah, these whole arc definitely could've done better if they stay true to what Qin Lang did.
it's like the lu Feng in the first two episodes died by the 4th, and now I fear the trailer. I was hoping they…
they certainly did tone down the book, not for Lu Feng, but for Qin Lang and the little bro. I really wish they didn't because it actually affect how much of "dignity" Yi Chen put when he put that ring on to go back to Lu Feng. In the book, that scene was so good because you are so happy when Yi Chen made that decision, and LanLin true to her writing style, made sure you fall to the ground and felt the hit in the next part.
I'm blaming the little brother for all of this and that's to come 🤷
the biggest problem with this is that the show actually make light of what little brother did to the book, and I just realized how much that removed what Yi Chen's actually lost when you compare the book and the show just because they changed this scene along.
Watched the first two episodes, this is going to turn dark, isn't it?
It's from LanLin's work. If it's the book, things would've turn dark the next second they were smiling lol LanLin loves to take you to the highest of high and just let you free fall to the ground. That's her style of writings.
