Review White Night
Apparently, we watched different films. Boring, slow, confusing, annoying characters, especially the gum chewer, and went nowhere, ending with all the romance inherent to an anonymous, toilet-stall fuck. Oh, wait...

Just finished giving this a second watch after having seen it first about a year ago during my BL-discovery frenzy. Strange. I have hesitated to re-watch it because I seem to remember being bored by it and finding it tough to stick with. This time around, however, I thoroughly enjoyed it and found myself quite invested in the characters. SunMork seemed to drag a bit at times, but overall I enjoyed their story too.

TayNew are very good actors and the chemistry is great. I think New is especially talented and nuanced in his acting. Tay began to get on my nerves about halfway-through as he seemed sort of one-note, that note being anger/jealousy. I get that that's the character I'm seeing too, but he seemed to express those traits in the same, predictable manner over and over, as though there was a set level of intensity he never dared to go beyond. I cried a good number of times, out of both happiness and sadness, and laughed a lot too, always a sign of an effective dramatic comedy.

Love the loyal/true/goofy gang. Very well-cast group of actors. Pete and Kao's parents are sweet and adorable. We need a sequel for the guys during which those two get hitched. :D

I was going to give this an 8.25 but the opening title sequence theme song and choreo tipped me up to an 8.5. What a great song and well-designed summary of the plots. I watched it in its entirety every episode.

I have to give my opinion on this too, since i find it funny, and at the same time is nice to discuss things like…
Got it! Thank you! :D To me, as an artist, the problem with that link under the trailer is the color of the text on a white background. I had to squint to even see it when I went back.

Thank you for your thoughtful and informative comment!

That link to White Night only shows me a trailer and that link is broken, says to go to YT. I'll try to find it myself. Now that I see the poster for the movie, I'm thinking I may have already watched it. But when I discovered BL a little over a year ago I sort of went crazy for a while and watched 2 or 3 movies or series every day when I could, so it's possible White Night was in that jumble of content that needs to be watched a second time. It's amazing to me how much more I discover in a film upon a second watch. I think, generally speaking, that if a person likes a particular film, they should watch it at LEAST twice before moving on. But I was in such a frenzy of enjoying all this wonderful gay content I was unaware of, it was like Thanksgiving dinner. I kept moving on to the next wonderful-smelling dish. :D

Your reaction to the LC/MR love scene is interesting in that it underlines how differently individuals can perceive the same content. Seriously, watching that, I felt magic, my mouth was probably hanging open. And I teared up at the sheer beauty and freedom of it and the fact that I was able to see this kind of gay content at all. I very much liked that the camera/audience stayed with the couple for so long; there was no rush to indicate they were going to have sex and then fade to black right away. Then the comical coda of MR pulling out that huge/very romantic lube bottle made me laugh out loud. :)

I thoroughly enjoyed Cornered Mouse too, but felt like the psychological/emotional reasons for why first one, then the other, rejected their partner other than that it was a BL and the gay characters had to end up heart-broken, was poorly explained. When the second one left at the end I had no earthly idea WHY he was doing that? Just to get revenge for the other's earlier rejection? That's another one I need to watch a second time.

Title HIStory4: Close to You Spoiler
I have to give my opinion on this too, since i find it funny, and at the same time is nice to discuss things like…
Thank you for this list. I think I've seen all the productions on your list except for White Knight. Do you have any idea where I can watch it online?

In my all-caps comment above, I didn't mean to imply that the lovemaking scenes in this last episode of CTY were the most "explicit" sex scenes in BL history, but that they were extended, beautifully shot, beautifully choreographed, though you never know how much is planned and how much is spontaneous in a sex scene. I love, especially in the first MR/LC scene, how the camera swoops in so close and slowly floats around them as they make love. Beautiful. And nipple-nibbling! Yay!

Eternal Summer is my second favorite BL movie of all time, right behind Night Flight. I have only watched it once so far, because I cried so much and was so effected by the movie that I just haven't been in a place where I want to put myself through that emotionally devastating experience again. lol I'm tearing up just thinking about it. The heart-break of the straight friend at being rejected by his gay best friend because he couldn't bear being near him all the time and not able to act on his love, was entirely real and just...my heart's breaking thinking about it. The straight guy truly loved his gay friend but not in the way that the gay friend needs. He tries so hard to give his friend what he wants...I'm a mess just remembering this so will move on. I always hoped the open ending left open the possibility of a sequel, but no such luck.

No Regrets is my third favorite. LOVE its intensity and rawness. Sort of a film-noir BL. Another one you might like is Double Mints. Dark, violent, sexy, a little twisted. Perfect. :D

Have a great one!

Judging from your standard, probably millions of people need to see a doctor.
They also get the secret thrill of being turned on by the material they complain about, then coming here to atone for those feelings by playing prude. weirdos.

Oh god, the big "incest" lie.
So what? How does that matter? How is it anyone's business other than theirs? They are in love, their parents have accepted it, resulting in much happiness and joy and other positive energies. Their relationship as a couple is not the least bit wrong, it is a beautiful, wonderful thing. No one cares if their status as STEP brothers gives you icky fee-fees. Grow up.

Listen, I never liked the stepbrother CP. ChengRen is the only reason I continued watching it. If you're so easily…
I LOVE the crazy, neon rainbow of sexual orientations, genders, etc. who love BL. It is really a fascinating thing to me that, for instance, a Lesbian friend of mine ADORES BL and knows more about it than me. :D I don't really "understand" where her fascination comes from, but so what? No one said I or anyone else has to understand it or that she has to try to explain it. It just IS. Long live fujoshis in every color of the rainbow!

I think I started watching it once, but got annoyed with the teasing, flirting, coy bromance angle. I want to see real guys kissing each other and falling in love, not just looking deeply into each others' eyes every five minutes while the wind blows their hair around. :D lol

lol?? what are you, the cops??
My question was direct, not "in bad faith," whatever you think that is supposed to mean. Oh you want an answer to your stupid fantasy question about an imagined rape? I suppose my answer is that in my book there was no rape, so I don't feel a need to get worked up about it. Oh...did I make you "feel bad" because of your ridiculous review, which you couldnt have written without watching 12 episodes of a show you claim to despise. Admit it: You got off on it.

You didn't know there are anti-SJW BL fans? That would be about 95% of the BL audience, who love this show. You've met lots of us here and you know it.

And yes, that is one of my portraits of Jonghyun, one of the most gifted entertainers of his generation. Got a problem?

All the tropes you shit your pants over are BL BASICS and always have been. Either stop watching BLs or quit bitching…
Of course you answered ZERO of my questions. You can say whatever you want, but you can't believably claim to be without sexual feeling and then presume to pass judgements on sexual themes. It's ridiculous. "Wrongful sexual intercourse..." lol There comes the SJW Church Lady bullshit again. I already read ALL about asexuality during this little discussion we're having. Sounds like a fad to me. But don't tell me who and how to fuck when you know nothing about fucking yourself, except maybe in a Discovery Channel kind of way. and stop watching BLs. You just do it to make yourself feel morally righteous.

I still go with the shower scene in History3 MODC . But this was close!
Hmmm...I'll have to go back and review that one then. I don't remember it for some reason. It was the two guys who got married in this episode, right?
