You didn't answer my implied question, of course. Do you or do you not believe there are terrible, horrible dark sides to the areas of straight sexuality and 'straight life.' Your original statement implies the opposite, that there is a terrible dark side to gay life in contrast to straight life, where there are no shadows or darkness.

And it's just sad that you wouldn't recommend series/films that deal with the dark sides of gay life to other people. Why not? It's one great and powerful way for people to discover things they are ignorant of. You want to encourage people to remain in ignorance because watching a dark-themed show might make them uncomfortable? You're not much of an advocate, then. Straight people NEED to be made uncomfortable about how gay people are treated, in Asia and around the world.

There are hundreds of movies put out every month that deal with dark sides of straight life. You don't have to look for them, they are all over the place. Good lord.

There is not ONE dark theme in this series that does not exist among straight people. Gay life "has a very dark side to it..." Really? And straight life doesn't? Wow, this is just really pretty horrible. Any future director who wants to learn now to take a script including rich, powerful themes of alcohol and drug abuse, sexual assault, sexual promiscuity, unsafe sex, venereal disease, HIV, sexual addiction (Pent), INCEST (yay!), obsessive love, relationship challenges, religion, betrayal, sexual and romantic infidelity, homophobia, kidnapping, S&M, self-harm, childhood abandonment, selfish/hateful parents, self-hatred and internalized homophobia, coming out and a whole lot more and turn it all into a tedious, boring, four-hour snooze-fest that makes very little rational sense, should DEFINITELY study this series closely. Somehow it managed to be worse than its successor WTD?.

Even a few almost-hot sex scenes couldn't save it. I was going to make a list of flaws but it would go on forever and I'm sure they are covered in the comments below so I'll skip it.

Some good acting in spots from specific actors but overall pretty bad. How is it that the evil slut Pent turns out to be, with the exception of Pop, the most decent, consistent person in the story?

I agree about the first part of your post, but not the second: Those gay sons, their parents and their partners are going to have the most beautifully-decorated holidays of anyone in the neighborhood year-round. The mom will be the queen bee of her husband and SIX sons, no nasty daughters-in-law to contend with. The guys can have kids by surrogate or adoption, so there will still be grandkids. So what, exactly, is there NOT to like. :D

Clearly, you work for the production company. This series is a mess with a few good qualities.

I'm insulted that you think I am trolling. I am sincerely concerned for the viewers of this series who are being exposed to toxic, problematic scenes of nut-punching without consent, sexual assault, incest (nut-punching your brothers), and other dangerous tropes that objectify men, compromise their sexual integrity and fetishize gay male sexual practices (the oldest brother's foot into Pi's anus is a common sexual act among men who have sex with men). I'm not going to remain silent when I see such dangerous content in the BLs I love.

You seem to imply TharnType is problematic. If so, why have you watched it for the Nth time?

Do we need to discuss how the youngest and oldest brothers sexually assaulted Duean by not getting signed and notarized permission from him before they held him down, legs spread wide, and pretended to kick and punch him in the nuts? I feel that his sexual agency was violated and he will suffer permanent psychological trauma from this. His brothers should be charged and jailed immediately.

Can't wait til dad finds out all three of his sons are gay as fuck. :D

I started watching this show once a year ago or so...and gave up on it; just didn't draw me in. I just now watched the PreeBo cut on YT and I'm glad I did though it was certainly sad.

Amusingly, I watched this only because some hysterical commenter in another BL thread came unglued over an alleged MewArt fan-service scandal that he thinks is the end of the universe or something. So I watched Art's sniffling/weepy Youtube video and watched this PreeBo cut out of curiosity after that. And THAT, folks, is how fan-service works to draw people to watch these shows. Which is partly why I stay away from it and all other promo stuff, but mostly because the whole phenomenon and the drama surrounding it is just stupid.

As an aside, regardless of what went before, I think it was a mistake on Art's part to record and post that video. There is NOTHING to be gained by trying to play the social media game whether you're the good guy or the bad guy; it can only make things worse and prolong the drama. But then, maybe that's exactly why Art made the video. Maybe his publicist and someone from the marketing department were sitting right off-camera as he whimpered and slobbered his way through that embarrassing display. I would have advised him to stay silent and only say positive things or nothing at all about it to the press and public.

Apparently this cut of WTD? does not make clear whatever was or was not going on between Pree and some Pop dude, correct? So with that in mind, these are my thoughts, which are in the spoiler post below this one.

REALLY ended up not liking the Rambo character at all, handsome as he is. He is the type of person who only really cries HARD when they've been driven to it by their own actions, and not because he did wrong or is remorseful, but because he got caught and couldn't find a way to lie his way out of it at long last. Bo cries hard, as he did at the doctors office after Pree left and again when they meet for the last time, because he has finally hit a brick wall and can no longer deceive Pree into loving him, but because he feels sorry for himself.

Rambo also lies constantly, which is annoying enough, but he's the type that keeps coming around crying after he gets caught at his lies and begging to reconcile, but never really convincingly says "I'm sorry. I would do anything to have you back. It will never happen again." Nor does he seem to make any changes in his behavior or circumstances to indicate his remorse. He claims to want to marry Pree later on, but he hasn't dumped the fiancee, he hasn't told his dad to stuff it and he he's keeping appointments to be fitted for a suit for his straight wedding. Seriously, wtf?

Finally, to me, when a character pulls something like the bareback sex Rambo had with that PentPig guy over the pool table while he was supposedly still pining for Pree, while on booze and drugs no less and then lies and covers THAT up, I lose all sympathy. That is a line you cannot cross back over with me. The final straw, of course, was lying about his sexual behavior to Pree and putting HIM at risk of HIV and god knows what else. Rambo is that kind of strange BL character who touches my fatherly instincts as well as my horny ones, and who I want to root for, but has this dark side they make no attempt to overcome and thus loses my respect and sympathy.

I wish the cut I saw would have shown more about what brought them together in the first place, because I kept wondering what Pree saw in Rambo in the first place, and I don't think it was just as a hot piece of ass, which apparently he is.

So...I guess Pree is a steward also? Given Mew's natural studly demeanor, I just assumed his character in this would be a pilot. I think that would have given the story another layer of possibility too.

Art can certainly turn on the waterworks when it's called for, but something about the way he cries makes it seem fake to me. He hangs his mouth open like he's had a stroke and squishes his eyes shut. I found him to be a pretty good actor overall, but I'd like to see him in another kind of role to see what he can do other than all this whimpering and sniffling stuff I saw so much of in the 90-minute PreeBo cut I watched.

OK, so I sussed out what your MewArt drama was all about. I never paid attention because 1: I don't generally watch BL promotional videos because they are generally boring and stupid and you can't necessarily believe a word anyone says in them. 2. I don't believe fan service flirting is genuine or harmful; it just gives the ladies something to squeal about. 3. I like to watch my films/series with a mind uncluttered with information about the actors' personal lives, which have nothing to do with what I see on screen. 4. I tried, but failed, to watch What the Duck because it bored me to tears.

All we have is weepy, unprovable allegations from Art that an attempt was made by Mew to "forcibly kiss" him at Mew's home. Apparently the alleged kiss failed to take place because Art resisted and that was that. Then we have lots of video of Mew attempting to flirt and kiss through it all during promotional events, while Art seems put-off by it. Some people seem to believe these incidents and the tiny storm of drama among the fujoshis resulting from them, have caused Art's career to stall out.

My take: I think it's weird to take a role in a BL that requires smooching and physical contact, and then react to that same contact during promo events as though you've been jolted by a bolt of electricity. If you hate guy-on-guy contact that much, and can't be a good sport about it, then maybe don't take gay roles, especially if your contract requires fan service. No one put a gun to this dude's head.

If you object to your acting partner's public behavior, have a very serious face-to-face about it and let him know you won't tolerate it. Also talk to your production company and let them know your position. After that, if the kissing/hugging attempts continue, then man-up and punch the guy in the face. That should get the clicks and social media going crazy and give your show and your career a boost of publicity.

Finally, we don't know shit about what ACTUALLY went down between these two, so I refuse to pretend that I do. I don't think it's a big deal. I think Art needs to focus on his acting and auditions if that's what he wants to continue doing, and Mew should do the same. I think YOU should get a life and worry about what you need to be doing. BL fan service is not rape or sexual harrassment or extortion and accusations you can't prove don't make it so.

I would also recommend that Art lighten the fuck up and quit crying on social media about some other guy trying to give him a fucking kiss as though he was nearly murdered or something. What a shit-load of nothing.

What are you talking about the "story of mew and art?" is this a BL series or what? Why can't you provide a simple fucking link? If you are suggesting some drama or series itself is evidence of some evil fantasy of fan service you've dreamed up, I'm going to be pissed. lol

As for the rest of your comment, you are clearly losing it and need to see a therapist. Yes, I live in Utopia, I never investigate things, blah, blah, blah, yeah, yeah, yeah... Seems to me you THINK you investigate things but actually do not, imagining fantasies derived from series and fan service videos, NONE of which you are willing to give me a freaking link to. We can't "talk about it" because you have yet to provide evidence of what "it" is. Jesus.
