Did anyone figure out Seok Ryu's current condition from this episode? I really don’t care about anything else at the moment; all I care about is whether the cancer has recurred or not. Nothing gave a definite answer to that. Yes, she said to Seung hyo that she’s fine now at the end, but if she’s okay now, I wonder why everyone reacts the way they do in the preview. I understand how hard it must be for the parents to know that she went through something terrible all by herself, but still, their reactions seem like they’re trying to find a way to save her. So, I get mixed feelings about her current health condition.

This is a problem for me too. Not only on this drama, but on many lightweight kdramas, I see comments calling them childish, boring, and so on. If dramas were tailored to these critics’ preferences, I wonder if they’d still be "K-dramas" . This is the true nature of K-dramas and that is what people love about them. If it changed too much, what would set them apart from Hollywood productions?Hollywood tends to have characters rushing into relationships, breaking up, and moving on quickly with fast-paced love stories. That’s why I got into K-dramas in the first place. No offense to Hollywood, but I loved the slow-burn romance, loyal characters who can’t move on from that one true love, cheesy jokes, and the everyday moments woven into the main plot. I liked how the stories developed slowly rather than jumping straight to the point. Now it seems like some people are bashing K-dramas for sticking to their unique style and wanting them to be more like Hollywood. I used to miss that 2016 K-drama vibe and thought they were losing that charm, but lately, there have been some great K-dramas that bring back that old-school feel, and it makes me really happy. I just don’t get why people keep expecting K-dramas to be something they’re not.

So, what exactly did you expect from the episode? I'm just curious because I've seen a lot of comments like this. Yes, I get it—the ending could be a little surprising because we don’t want FML to be sick and all. But other than that, I don't see anything wrong with episode 8. If she had said yes right after Seong Hyu's confession, wouldn't that have been unrealistic given how long they've been friends? It’s not that they're acting childish; it's more like they're a little awkward with each other because they are trying to behave in a new way. They can’t just keep acting like they used to anymore.

No matter what your age is, in a situation like this, anyone would behave that way. They’ve been friends all their lives, and suddenly seeing each other as love interests—especially for the FML, who wasn’t prepared for this at all—must be a very new and awkward experience. So, I think they’re acting the most natural way anyone would in this kind of situation.

And about the lack of communication? I believe they’re handling it in the most adult way possible. Despite the awkwardness, they still talk to each other and spend time together without avoiding the topic. She asked if it's okay to take some time to give him an answer, and he agreed. After that, they acted like adults, staying with each other without being overly uncomfortable.

As for Seok Ryu's ex, he was present only 2-3 times in the whole episode (once with Seok Ryu's mother, not with her), while Seong Hyu's ex appeared just once in the whole episode. How is that too much? And a lot happened in this episode for you to say nothing did—Seok Ryu's cooking getting caught by her parents, her secret being revealed, and her bonding with Seong Hyu after his confession. All of these things happened in this episode.

If everything were rushed, I wonder what they’d show in the rest of the drama. It's a slow-burn story, like most K-dramas, and it's a simple one without too many things happening at once. It's slowly developing as it should because of their lifelong friendship. Turning that friendship into love is especially difficult for them. I think the ones who complain the most are those who don’t understand the depth of their friendship.

Me too. I truly hope that was just to show how much she has suffered by herself and to give her parents a chance to seriously repent their actions. Bringing that into the present would ruin the drama for me, so I really wish that the whole thing would be kept in the past.

Ok, maybe it's time for me to hold off on watching until it's over. I love it so much; nothing about it has been boring to me. But, I'm scared to keep watching now. What if she gets her cancer back? I really don't want to see that. I don’t want a sad ending in such a fluffy and fun drama.

I don’t think her accepting her ex’s proposal is happening in the present. I'm 95% sure it's a memory from the past. Or at least, she’s pretending to be engaged to her ex because she wants to push the male lead away, possibly because she has gotten her cancer back. There’s no way she would accept a proposal from her ex in the present. And the part where the male lead yells at her is likely after he learns about her cancer.

I’m okay with the cancer plot if it’s only in the past. It’s possible she had cancer in the past given how stressed she’s been while being away from her family and friends in a foreign country—I disagree with people who think it’s unnecessary and came out of nowhere. But if they show her getting cancer back in the present, I think I’d be very disappointed because this drama has a different vibe. A vibe that doesn’t suit a plot where she continually has to deal with cancer throughout the rest of the show. So, I truly hope they keep the whole cancer plot in the past without bringing it into the present.I will never forgive the writers for ruining one of my favorite shows if they decide to do that

Exactly. I'm sorry for the confusion—what I meant was Korean, Japanese, and Chinese dramas. I just wanted to expand the field a little bit for accuracy. But what you said is true; Thai dramas are a bit different from the rest.

No offense, but one thing I've realized is that the majority of this criticism is coming from people who are new to K-dramas (not everyone, but most of the new K-drama fans). Whenever I see someone complaining about this drama being slow paced, I tend to check their profiles, and most of them have only completed a handful of dramas. Maybe that’s why they're not familiar with the style of K-dramas? Not just K-dramas, but most Asian dramas feature slow-burn romance

Couldn't agree more. Thank you for explaining so well the beauty of slow-burn romance. If things were rushed, we wouldn't be able to savor it as much as we do now. I'm all for their slowly falling in love phase

This is just my opinion based on my experience with dramas and the pre-released scene and preview of episode 8
1. I also thought the same. It looks like there’s a misunderstanding between them, but even if there isn’t, I don’t think she’s still seeing that man anymore.
2. I don’t think the family was there because this was the first time he confessed his feelings. I don’t think they would make a fool of him in such a serious situation. As for Seok Ryu, I don’t think she has given him any response other than being flustered. He might have said that he doesn’t expect a response from her right away; he just wants her to know how he feels.
3. No. According to the preview and pre-released clips, it doesn’t seem like they have started dating yet. In the pre-released clip, he’s wondering if he burdened Seok Ryu by confessing his feelings. He wouldn’t have doubts like that if she had said yes. Also, in the preview, she asked, “So your confession has no expiry date?” which means she can take any time she wants to reply.
4. I don’t think they will kiss in episode 8. It would be rushed if they kissed right after the confession because they’ve been friends for more than 20 years. I don’t think a kiss will come that easily for them.
5. I have no idea about this one. Maybe around the last 4 episodes?

She’d love to get him back but never pushes it on ML. She flirts all the time and expresses her feelings whenever she gets the chance, but she lets ML decide whether to get back together with her or not. Now she kind of knows that ML has feelings for FML, and she’s ok with that and not jealous of her

She does have feelings for him, but she's not crazy at all. She knows how ML really feels and, in my opinion, kind of helped him realize that as well. She’s just a special appearance after all and isn’t going to stay for long

First of all, I’m so glad to see someone else besides me enjoying this episode as much as I did. I think it was one of the best episodes I’ve watched so far. I don’t understand where all this hate is coming from. This is a 'drama,' so ofc there’d be drama, like the situation with the exes. If it didn’t, they wouldn’t have made it for 16 episodes; it should’ve ended in less than 10. I really don’t get what’s wrong with that.

Second of all, at this point, I don’t think that was the reason she broke off the engagement. There’s definitely another reason, based on how she behaved with her ex. Maybe it’s related to what happened to her when she was 30?

I loved every second of it, as always. Thanks to the whole ex's stories, we were able to see both sides of jealousy, which I always enjoy in every drama. I also loved that it’s a slow-burn romance and that his confession was delayed because of the ex's appearance. And also I have no complaints about the possibility of the FML falling first, as it’s totally possible. If we look back, it was kind of obvious, in my opinion. She cared too much for the ML, more than a friend would. I always assumed that she had feelings but hadn’t realized it yet or mistook those feelings for friendship. It’s not the first time we’ve seen that "having feelings but not realizing it yet" plot in K-dramas and C-dramas; it always happens. Now that he has confessed, she might have had a sudden realization, and I don’t see anything wrong with that. That preview was so good that I now realize a day can feel this long... Can’t wait for the next episode.

For me, definitely yes 🥺♥️. I've been watching every scene twice so I don’t miss anything. I've only been this obsessed with a handful of dramas like Lovely Runner, QOT, and 2521. You should definitely give it a try, in my opinion. However, if you only prefer somewhat complicated plots, this may not be your cup of tea. It’s a very lightweight drama (which has some mysteries but not huge ones)

I'm curious about this too. I think it has to do with a long-term trauma, possibly related to her parents or childhood. It didn’t look like she was angry; it seemed more like she was scared or anxious after reading that comment. I’m not sure exactly, but my guess is it’s either connected to a bad childhood memory or it's something that insults her foster mom

I binged all 4 episodes and wanted to know if I was the only one who didn't like ML's long hair until I saw the ending of episode 4. I'm glad they changed it. I saw some comments on TikTok saying that long hair suits him and he should wear it that way from now on, but to me, it felt like a wig and never suited him.

The only reason I’ve survived so far is because of this comment section. Thank y'all for making it easier. It really helps with all the waiting until this Saturday. I’m officially addicted to this drama ♥️✨

You may not regret it now, but you’ll regret it soon when you finally have to wait for the next episode after binge-watching all the released episodes. 😭 Waiting is so hard

Not all the time, but 70% of the time, I also choose what to watch based on ratings. However, if I see a drama that interests me despite the ratings, I give it a go. That’s what happened with this one as well. The plot looked interesting and had great actors, so I decided to watch it before it even came out. I only rely on others’ ratings when nothing in particular interests me about the drama. As someone who has already watched this, I don’t understand why it'll get lower ratings, while 'Lovely Runner' and 'Our Beloved Summer' have ratings around 9. I love them both. They’re quite similar to this one and give off the same vibe. I really enjoy this drama and don’t understand the rating system.If 'Lovely Runner' and 'Our Beloved Summer' deserve around a 9, I believe this one does too (so far; I’m not sure what the future holds). I personally believe all three dramas are great and deserve at least a 9.5/10.
