For me this is the best drama of 2026 so far. This is what we call the art of storytelling.

Everything counts but better if your account is verified. As you can see verified rating is 7.11. Rating every episode also helps but since not many ppl have rated yet, this gives the haters an advantage to rate it low and manipulate the score. U can see completed rating is also 6.78 lmao. Ig they travelled to the future to finish the whole drama. Idk why mdl lets you complete the drama when its not finished airing and lets you rate future eps.

I'm rating each episode 9, but not overall yet. Does that have any effect on the current rating0? Or the present ratings is counted only from the overall rating?

I really don't undertand the low rating. This drama is very good. It has art, history, each character has its own dinstintive spice, etc.

It’s just haters , people shouldn’t pay attention to the ratings as they are easily manipulated, also most people don’t like dramas without romance so that’s partly why ratings are low as this will have limited romance

Why did the rating drop to 7.5? This drama was literally at 8.0! It’s unfair because this is definitely not a bad drama. The quality is amazing and the acting skills are absolutely perfect! It deserves a much higher score."

18-24 year olds rated it below 8. U can tell young ppl only care abt romance so they find these kind of plots boring. Well I'm 21 myself but I'm enjoying the drama tho so not everyone. I know if I'm not gonna like a drama I simply don't watch it and just drop it. Why bother rating a whole drama when u have only watched like 3 episodes? Will never understand that. Just move on and watch something else instead of complaining in the comment and whining abt it being boring. If it bores you then just drop it for gods sake. What exactly are you expecting here? If you haven't watched the whole drama before giving your opinion then sorry I'mnot taking that opinion seriously. We legit only got 10 eps out rn. Yet these haters beeing whinign since there was only 4 eps out. Who knows if your opinion would change after watching the rest of the eps? And for the last time this isn't a ROMANCE drama so if your looking for that just kindly exit this page thank you.

I believe this drama is currently being targeted by organized anti-fans who are intentionally lowering the rating through mass 1-star reviews. The sudden score drop feels unnatural compared to the actual audience response and review quality.

I already said I won’t talk about MDL ratings for Zi dramas after Love Endures, but since this is the first non-idol drama of hers hitting such a low here, I felt the need to say something for the last time (hopefully).
To passerbys who use ratings to decide whether to watch. So I just want to clear a few things.
I’ve been seeing people say they didn’t even know The Heir aired and talk about poor marketing. Compared to Flourished Peony (even though it aired on Mango TV), there are hardly any people aware that The Heir is even broadcasting. So right now we’re basically a handful of watchers.
Intl, Yang Zi dramas heavily depend on passerby opinions. If there aren’t many watchers, just forget it, the rating will be low.
Her dramas usually start low on MDL. We’ve seen that with her other dramas too, then as real viewers come in, the rating increases.


So if YOU are here trying to decide whether to watch this:
If you are planning to watch this with romance in your head at all, just don’t bother. You’ll probably find it boring, so just forget whatever you’ve seen online if romance is your expectation.
The male lead doesn’t even properly appear until episode 6. This drama is literally for people here for Li Zhen’s storyline in the ink business world. Romance is a bonus for people already watching for Li Zhen’s life.
The drama is very fast-paced. If you’re here for romance, you’ll think it’s boring or dragging. But if you’re here for Li Zhen, it’s actually interesting. she handles one challenge after another every episode. That part keeps it exciting for me.
Right now it’s still early, so I don’t know what will happen later. Based on MDL so far, I feel like it could’ve debuted around 8.1–8.2 regardless of haters but the issue is there just aren’t enough viewers yet so it’s a handful of watchers plus haters.
Also, some of the people watching (not haters) might also just not like it for reasons beyond romance and that’s fine. Nothing is perfect.
As a Yang Zi fan, I’ve learned to rely more on Douban because there’s a better balance between fans, haters and passerbys in China compared to intl platforms.
Anyway, this is mainly for people trying to decide whether to watch for Li Zhen. I felt I had to say something because of the low score. Tbh, I don’t really care much about intl data anymore. I’m used to it but this one just feels beyond the usual
