The problem with CDrama is it's following a popular trend. These stories meant to be mindless entertainment. Don't question motives, plots because you will be disappointed. It's not great but this one is watchable already. The cast is already very well assembled compared to others.

well, i am enjoying blossoms of power a lot for what it is, but let's be honest... you are watching an idol drama, so of course, it's not going to be anything groundbreaking. it was made for fast consumption, and it prioritizes visuals first, entertainment second, and everything else after that.
china has many highly complex and well written dramas that are not idol dramas, and those get released yearly. unfortunately, they're just not as popular internationally (popular, but not as popular as idol dramas UNLESS you are a seasoned c-drama watcher and know what to look for.)

How can a person be handsome and beautiful and talented at the same time. i am wondering why she never got the chance to be as a main lead in short or long historical or wuxia dramas. Her martial arts talent is also amazing. i am speechless...
Some of you need to uderstand that no one is obligated to reciprocate feelings simply because the other person is head over heels for them or bending over backward with acts of service. Love doesn't work like a vending machine where you insert ten sweet gestures, three heroic sacrifices, and automatically get a devoted romance in return. As much as the Crown Prince is being the "perfect man" and moving mountains for her, affection isn't a contractual debt that you pay off with forced reciprocity
She never fooled anyone, From day one she made her goals for this marriage crystal clear and she is simply staying true to what she promised. The Crown Prince knew exactly what ground he was stepping on when he accepted the deal, he isn't an ignorant victim, he is a grown man who fell in love despite the warning label she put on from day one.
The outrage over her attitude only proves that we are never going to escape the patriarchy.
I really liked her acting. But I dont speak Korean so I listen in Korean and use the subtitles in English. Whether or not a modern accent in her 'ancient Korean' capability actually interferes with her acting, I cant have an opinion on that..
But here are my admittedly useless two cents on the topic of modern accents in plays about the past. . I think some people might be justifiedly unhappy about the effect of her accent, if they really wanted a classic sageuk, that is their right. Especially if they really like the genre.
I am a fan of sageuk, but I think it is always a tightly controlled mixture of topical references to modern day combined with wildly different interpretations of clothing and scenery ranging from actual realism to the prettiest of pink and blue. I love them all if done well and I can get cranky too,.
I didnt think this was a standard pink and blue pretty series at all, but it was beautiful in its choices -- sad, haunting and really wild in the inside-the-psyche missions the two had to take on.
I really loved Roh Yoon Seo in this role. She didnt get those majestic 'queenly' beauty shots, she was definitely a small person, an unhappy daughter of the palace. I felt for her. I admired her eventual bravery. She was so young. They didnt load her up with makeup, pretty jewelry, flowers etc.
There might be a side-trend to strengthen the connections of some sageuks to modern contexts -- We dont require in our many versions of Shakespeare's plays that people stick to the 1950's Lawrence Olivier accent anymore. Although something similiar can certainly work, depending.
I know I know that is a wildly elevated example...but one that is easy to understand, right?
This woman, her younger version is Zhao Lusi..they look almost the same. That is why she is also casted as her Zhao Lusi mother most of the time. So pretty and still young. So charming.
