Just finished this with a sigh of relief - a makjang-revenge drama that satisfied. I felt the events on top of the rooftop in the last episode were a bit inventive but - hey, maybe they needed five minutes of filler. Loved it and Jang Hyun's performance.
I'd like to see this story rewritten a bit - make Chakrit(Ken) Yada's enforcer, not her antagonist. He's so stoney faced in this drama that he needs more than the love of a good woman to bring about change. Otherwise, just a fine drama. Not crazy special but okay.
Okay, I wAtched about half of this with subtitles - and now I can’t find them again. Anyone know where they are listed? This is driving me wild trying to find them again!
Just watched the newer version with Ken and I think the older version is still good. Johnny just looks like he might really be a gangster. Ken looks like the gangster's enforcer.
I'm watching this (unsubbed, unfortunately) on YouTube - it's very good. Not quite faithful to the novel as I remember it but very good. I especially like the actors playing the teenaged Luo Chi and his brother. They both have very distinct, youthful personalities that show aspects that will blossom into their adult characters. And the dubbing (I'm assuming it is) is quite well done. Sometimes, Chinese dramas dub children's voices as though they were stupid, not just young.
As for the female lead, I like that she's not super beautiful - she's just supposed to be a normal person. She hasn't seemed too silly - maybe a little naive about how violent the past is, though. There's a similar story vein in the sci-fi novel, The Doomsday Book by Connie Willis, about a historian traveling back to the Middle Ages in England during the plague.
I'm hoping this show will get subbed for the foreign market - I notice a lot of TenCent productions ending up on Dramafever, Viki, etc.
