Box office figures for CNY 2025 denied LoCH movie a top 3 spot. Plus as another reviewer pointed out above movie seems to have received marginally more ratings than the number of tickets sold.
Thankfully, there are only 2 BIG cheaters in CN box office figures/fake positive reviews: Zhang Yimou, and !

Also, I don't like this kind of project. Hark Tsui abandoned Return of Condor Heroes movie half way just to chase the filthy lucre with Xiao Zhan. Plus XZ is a controversial actor with just as many dislikes, not a terribly wise choice as ML!
Shen Xing the Jinx! How many ppl didn't get shot in the chest, arrested, committed suicide, had their throat cut, lost their leg if he hadn't come into their lives!
It's the first drama I came across where nearly 50% of the viewers gave it a 1/5!
Anyways, I'm gonna watch this in 4K then delete it from my computer right away. This kind of low-rated drama not worth keeping around on your hard drive!

The only reason Tencent abandoned the gritty realism of Douluo Continent S1 drama for cartoony anime style is because it's the style that I Am Nobody (a recent smash hit drama) uses which is a 1:1 mirror of the web comics it's based on.
IMO Tencent should just give up adapting anime into live action. Fights Break Sphere S5 anime is sooooo much more enjoyable than the shitestorm S2 live action drama...

Actually maybe Tencent did plan for LoCH RoCH and HSDS to each have the same budget. LoCH aka Legend of Heroes didn't look like the typical high quality Tencent drama but a budget production. Because Tencent already predicted Jin Yong would suck based on Fox Volant Side Story performance. So they said to each y'all LoCH RoCH HSDS B-grade production status and each shall receive the same low budget monetary expenditure!
The result won't be good. You guys all saw the dramatic drop in quality from Ever Night S1 to S2. Tencent will pour half the budget into S2 (aka Condor Returns) because S1 (aka Condor Legend) didn't perform very well. I'd rather this NOT be called Legend of Heroes Return.
Tencent should just start clean with a fresh slate and give the viewer fair treatment by making a stand alone Heroes Return drama with the same budget as the S1 prequel.
I only started watching S1 this summer from a recommendation in another drama discussion. I only managed to finish the S2 today.
It's been a while since I watched a drama this good. I'm glad there are companies like iQiyi to compete with Tencent Recently I became bored with Tencent productions. They churn them out like fast food, following certain formulas like create false suspense to hook you into the next episode.
I really look forward to the S3 of Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty.

The amusing interactions between Su Wuming and Yang Kang of Condor Heroes fame. That about sums up my impression of S1+2 of Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty!
(Of course this Yang Kang is a good character unlike the other Yang Kang that betrayed his roots...)
I didn't know Yang Xuwen (LLF) played as Guo Jing in LoCH 2017. Throughout Strange Tales of Tang, I always thought I was watching was Yang Kang from the Condor Heroes trilogy NOT the character LLF. In fact Yang Xuwen looked and acted in Strange Tales so much like the Mainland version of 1983's TBV Yang Kang!

You can start it, but then from Episode 7, it continues from a story arc of S1. If you haven't seen S1 by the time you've reached EP7 of S2, you will be very confused as to what's actually happening.
They should make more seasons of this drama the sooner the better!
I think what will ultimately kill off this franchise is the actors and actresses age beyond what is normally considered good-looking youthful people! At which point if they replaced the series with younger actors and actresses there will be a strong upheaval from the audience.

LOL. That sums up the main reason why I never liked LoCH but love the sequel RoCH. The protagonist of LoCH is written as a dumb arse in the original novel. Tencent just adapting what the author originally wrote. On the other hand the ML of the sequel RoCH (different person) is described as very smart and cunning. THAT kind of story I love watching adapt!
