Tencent never ceases to amaze me. They see something popular from another company like 3 Lives 3 Worlds and subsequently attempts an imitation in Ancient Love Poetry. The Twin Flower Legend becomes Romance of a Twin Flower etc. This latest one is an imitation of the ever popular Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 1-2 by iQiyi!
I'll be completely honest, I only found out about Strange Tang recently thru recommendation from I Am Nobody drama discussion on MDL. Which means I haven't finished watching S1 yet. I did acquired all episodes of S2 on my hard drive and previewed 5 mins of it.
The other day I just finished the Crocodile Island arc of S1 where LLF was looking for the tree with red spiny leaves. Lol, today at a Chinese restaurant, they planted a tree just like it in their front lawn. My jaw gapped that I was able to see that tree up close in real life.
The universe is already a pretty weird place on the quantum mechanical level. SYNCHRONICITY is the extension/manifestation of that weirdness at the macrocosmic level!
Lol why are you downloading the series? Just watch on iQiyi so it doesn't take up space. I watch 4K resolution…
Streaming sucks. The internet will always lag during prime streaming time. Plus I use Google TV Android TV box and I hate Google spying on me so I never allow my TV box to go online... Meaning any and all streaming services are worthless to my TV box!
The only thing can alleviate this problem is if China got their shiet together and made a TV box that doesn't run any shiet Western spying software...
I watched Strange Tales S1 all in regular 4K (2160p) 25fps.
People seem only want to share the 4K (2160p) 60fps HDR version for S2. I was disgruntled that the whole drama series went from taking 40GB on my hard drive for S1 to 110GB for S2. I normally want my drama season to be in 4K (2160p) BUT between 40-60GB on my hard drive.
I never knew 60fps+HDR looked so good over 25fps. I'm glad ppl shared better quality episodes for S2. Because the S2 is WAY more higly rated than S1 on Douban, THAT alone makes the extra 70GB worth while (for +2X frame rate plus High Dynamic Range)!
Wow, the douban rating increases to 8.5, with number of raters passing 100K mark now!
It's good that S2 becoming so popular. For a while ppl stopped sharing the 4K episodes for downloading. More people interested in S2 means there's still plenty of time/sources for me to acquire the remaining episodes.
BTW, if you guys NOT watching this series in 4K (2160p) 60FPS HDR offline from your hard drive for smooth video playback experience (without the stutter/lags/delays associated with online streaming), you don't know what you're missing...

BTW, I haven't seen any Detective Dee movies yet/to this day, but the name alone sounds like the McDonald's of detective stories. The other thing I don't like about "Detective Dee"... That's a Cantonese name. In mandarin it's "Detective Di" like in Strange Tales subtitles.
