Kim Soo Hyun honorably discharged from the military on July 1st, 2019.
Initially classified as Grade 4 (public service worker) during his first physical exam due to a heart condition from childhood.

After consistent health management, he was re-evaluated as Grade 1 and enlisted for active duty, a move that made headlines.

He was named an outstanding trainee, volunteered for the reconnaissance battalion of the 1st Infantry Division (a frontline unite known for its grueling training), and was designated an "Elite Warrior". His exemplary military service let to early promotion.

To the question: "What is the one thing you want to do most after being discharged?"
He answered: "I want to act again so, so much."
