btw I assumed that Se Ri lived with Lucia and TG and just came to visit GC..... but .. do you really think she does LIVE with GC...??? after all that "my mom Lucia" lovey dovey.... ??? or is living with GC her penance? But then how about Lucia who "lost" her second daughter... ??? Would Lucia let her away like that...... ???
This is so weird, Lucia was Se Ri's mother yet at the end - do they live together??? Is Se Ri just visiting GC, or living with her, as some ppl claim... ??? Seems like I slept through most of the last episodes, it was so boring LOL but I dutifully wanted to finish it so that I could complete this (boring) chapter in my research project called "what works and what does not work in a kdrama"...
this drama was like a cartoon, good guys always did stupid stuff and got out unscratched by sheer luck. I wonder which audience this is intended for. .... Any ideas?
I like to finish a drama when I start watching it bc sometimes there are lulls in the script, and then it gets back on track. BUT I gave this soapy soap enough benefit of the doubt. Now, I am out. I might drop in sometimes to check what Nan Suk is wearing. Good bye everyone, maybe see you somewhere else online.
It is better when they are actually doing something instead of just talking about it. How many times are we going…
Those are "stupid spoiled brat rebellious teenager dissing it to their idolized parent" scenes and they look very american. I was almost expecting JW to go out and start doing drugs in a gang in rebellion. Luckily kdramas do not go that far but what is shown here is not much better either, JW basically made her own gang and went on a rampage.. JW caused death of her father and has ABSOLUTELY NO inkling about it and even goes around getting herself a private butt sniffer dog Ha Neul. Yikes yuck disgusting. Bye this drama.
This is just another show written by a woman shoving her feminist agenda. Just look at this show, a ML who is…
No this is not feminist, it is a fantasy to escape the current patriarchy, sexism, and inequality between men and women by letting the women fantasize of a world where they ARE STILL IN THAT WORLD BUT MAGICALLY "WIN" . This has absolutely nothing to do with feminism... this drama is sexism, 100%, straight from 1950s or 1850s lol... .
It promotes a cruel controlling overbearing man who SOMEHOW behaves nicely to JUST this one chick .... bc he wants to bag her. So he is into sexual harassment at work, etc etc etc and it is all seen as signs of his great love. And the woman is dumb, spaced out, chronic liar, from poor background, insecure, scared of life, BUT KIND AND WILLING TO FAST JUMP INTO BED, and she never does anything for the relationship and waits for him to push it forward.
This is a story of a patriarchal society crushes, how ppl get together on wrong note - all in heat - and how so many marriages end up in divorce.
Have you seen anywhere in this group here any inkling they even understand the concept of character growth? Before ep 9, there were so many comments that DR is a kind and good person and should not change ANYTHING. Now, that's rad.... All comments are "yes but ... she had to lie.. " "yes but ... he is not really doing sexual harassment at work, he just loves her so much."
In real life, this drama ends up with the woman losing her job and maybe even having a baby she did not plan on. In real life, best case, this drama ends up with JH getting bored with this bed partner and moving onto the next one, and a divorce in about 1-2 years.
FL and ML have nothing to talk about, their relationship is based on him feeling an urge to mate and pursuing her. Once that heat is used, there will be nothing left in about 1-3 yrs at most.
THIS DRAMA IS LIKE ALCOHOL, to turn your brain off and fantasize of a better world where you, the underdog, call the shots.
Why is Nan Suk wearing crosses as earings.... ? Is this some cheap advertisement for christian church, how even a crazy villain wil get saved by churchianity? Or are the earings to show that churchianity is practiced by many villains? There is way too much advertising of churchianity lately in so many kdramas. Only The Defects addressed the deep issues of homophobia, exploitation and hypocrisy of it. So many other dramas include marketing gimicks
Gosh this is boring. JW actress is a terrible actress and that pouty face from ep. 1 is the same face in ep 58, and I am tired looking at it. WHY DOESNT SHE TAKE ACTING LESSONS??? JW as a rebellious dumb teenager, , spewing blind accusations and holding her bio mother to impossible standards. HN too... HN too is a kid angry at NS bc she self defended against his father who beat up NS **** and him, his own child Ha Neul ***** and did all kinds of horrible things.
The script is trash. Two little children in adult bodies trying to act revenge against their mothers who are half angel and half devil, and meanwhile... the kids keep trashing SH and caused death of FL's bio father KB and they think it is totally cool. They treat KB and SH as chess pieces in their game, not as real persons. THE AMOUNT OF DISRESPECT AND ENTITLEMENT BY JW AND HN IS DISGUSTING.
JW cannot see she is the same kind as her mother? acting on her greed no matter how many ppl she would destroy in the process.... and that she, JW, caused the death of her father, by causing the trouble that pulled KB out into the danger? What an idiot JW. Same old same old in ep 58 as in ep 1. Should she not be a little bit different by now? For one - why doesnt the actress take come acting lessons and learn to act?
I am out of here for now. I am not sure who this drama is for? Some ... rebellious dumb teenagers? what is going on... ????
In any case, I think it is time for a better script writer and some acting lessons. There are only 41 episodes left
At this point, I am rooting for Seon Hoon to put an end to all these people using him like he is their piece of furniture and they just put him where they see fit - JW, HN, HR, JTS, NS, YC have been behaving as his slave masters
I think he should get so enraged to really grow up and figure out how to STOP THE PIMPS FROM PIMPING HIM ALL THE TIME
it is making Seon Ho actor act a lot better :) his role is suddenly getting super extra more complex. The permanent sacrificial lamb... I hope he goes bananas on all of them and stops ppl from just using him all the time..
I guess... he has to be quiet and go along until he inherits the company, and then he can get rid of everyone using him - YC, NS, HR, his dad, and of course JW and HN :)
I have no clue what I am watching. It is some ...middle school? kld kid in adult body, thinking design competitions and offices are fair and she is gonna shine and show everyone she is better than RealYC.. ??? SHE WANTS HER BIO MOM TO BE BETTER THAN A CRYSTAL BALL READER AND ALWAYS HAVE A CLEAR GRASP OF THINGS ... even what was never said LOL as JW NEVER COMMUNICATES.... she doest tell YC stole her designs... Instead, she yells at her bio mom and threatens to destroy her and then DOES try to publicly destroy her. Then she gets upset that the boy she married out of greed, used, and brutally dumped,.... moved on to someone else...
This is a delulu middle school rebellious dellirious angry teenagers crazy... bur why is this angry middle school kid a FL in an adult drama... at episode 60/100... ???
One thing I am certain of seeing - omg Nan Suk looks amazing in that black fur with red/black/white blouse. Wow what an amazing looking woman. Someone needs to catalogue her wardwrobe and jewelry and makeup in this drama. They are really stunning fashion statements
would someone please explain - the cast is "main host" and this is labeled variety show. What does it…
I have never watched a dating variety show or any variety show.. and had no idea a setup like this exists :) I watched ep 1 just to get a feel but I wasnt quite sure what is going on - bc ... the real people are set up to meet and live in real time, and the show hosts comment... This is kiiinda like a Truman show but they know they are a Truman :) Also, the fact that person X came with person Y does not mean anything, they can mix and match so this is a psychological thriller, really... I am still trying to figure out why those hosts need to be commenting on it. To introduce more buzz and alert the audience what they see... ? Yeah without them it would not be that spicy. It is like.. a public and somewhat nicely censored gossip LOL
Your comment is not even helpful. I am not sure exactly what and why doesnt make any sense to you. But if you are going to just ridicule me, then dont ever read my stuff then.
without constructive feedback, there is no chance I would be writing something more meaningful. A meaningless unjustified opinion is useless, so I do not need to hear it.
In other words - if you have nothing specific and constructive to say, just stay silent and ignore me - unless your intention is to ridicule me, In which case, just stop. It is crude. Bye.
Goodbye lovely drama! I really wish this becomes a 50 ep family drama...
I love the reality of this show, not sugarcoating it with pretty always smiling or sleeping cute babies, with business that can go up or down, etc. Very real - yet resolved so elegantly and beautifully.
I would love to keep watching these extended families and follow up how they grow.
PS - Oh I realized they copied My Dearest Nemesis plot with little cartoon characters and books but .. MDN was not as perv-deep-looking like this one. This one kinda skirted the issue - I bet that the hubby needed some therapy first, and spent some agonizing days before he was ready for that motel :)
Wow I found an article from England on this subject: https://www.euppublishing.com/doi/abs/10.3366/mclc.2023.0031 "In Chinese online romances and TV dramas, the “overbearing CEO” (badao zongcai) is a recurring motif. The stories follow a stereotypical formula, depicting the love between a wealthy and domineering young man, such as a successful businessman, and a girl of humble background. Although there are many variations, the essential constituents present a Cinderella-type fantasy." BUT THAT IS THE KDRAMA TROPE too ... This is the exact plot of for example, Dynamite Kiss.
Ahh Collywood :) China also has the concept of dragon lady and cherishes domineering women... but in real life...…
Well yeah that is the idea. Women get to have this fantasy that the world is a totally opposite place. In reality, it is women who kiss as# of men. So this Cinderella fantasy is to escape reality
Ahh Collywood :) China also has the concept of dragon lady and cherishes domineering women... but in real life...…

I remember watching Princess Hours and in one episode, the actors described this type of plot (overbearing - weak) as the key plot in all kdramas
Ahh Collywood :) China also has the concept of dragon lady and cherishes domineering women... but in real life...…
The "dragon lady" controlling bossy type I saw in American-Chinese movies portrayed as cherished and funny in China...... I wonder why that has a place in Chinese culture..... That is a whole research topic itself...
Chinese went through several centuries of opium smoking aka hashish epidemics, so perhaps strong women were necessary to save the family (bc I suppose that a man would get into smoking a lot easier than a woman, who is stuck home while he goes out and about)...?
Hm... now I am thinking... I heard Chinese in American-produced movies use this concept.... That movie about Seattle... Have I heard Chinese from China use this concept..... ?? This could be one of those derogatory Western concepts used to put Asians down....
Chinese seem to have their own derogatory names for domineering women... diewei (“爹味” − literally, a smell of father, figuratively, a sense of fatherhood) "Dà bàngzi fūrén" (大棒子夫人) is a derogatory term in Simplified Chinese (China) that translates to "Mrs. Big Stick" in English xiansheng - Although often translated into English as “Mister,” the Chinese word xiansheng is technically a gender-neutral honorific
虎妈 (hǔ mā) is a popular term meaning "tiger mom",
河東獅吼 Hédōng shī hǒu the "lioness's roar", used to describe the loud complaining of an overbearing wife from the perspective of her henpecked husband
"妻管严" (qī guǎn yán, literally strict wife control) translates to henpecked husband in English, describing a husband who is strictly controlled or dominated by his wife, often playfully or colloquially referred to as "fear of wife" (怕老婆) or "qi guan yan" (气管炎) in Chinese, highlighting the wife's strong control in the household
The character showing two women together means 'argument'.
This seems positive:
女强人 (nǚqiángrén) (Strong Woman/Power Woman): This is a common modern term for a successful, independent, and assertive woman, often in business or leadership
the Chinese character for "home" is a pig under a roof. **** "Peace" is a woman under a roof. "Good" is a woman and son under a roof.
Interestingly, lion guardians on a house could be male or female... The male lion is traditionally on the left side when facing outward from the building and the female is on the right.
So funny how this FL annoys ppl, and slimey liars losers damsels in distress in Would you Marry Me, Dynamite Kiss,…
what you are talking is very implicit. You were shreding Ms. Wi bc you think you can. She is female so you are holding her up to an impossible standard of perfection. That is so common. What I was saying is that dumb women who are easy to jump into bed are typically forgiven all kinds of stupid behaviors. Ms. Wi is not that kind so ppl are a lot more critical of her. This is one way how sexism works - the more a woman is a slave to men, the more she is forgiven for anything stupid she does.
this drama was like a cartoon, good guys always did stupid stuff and got out unscratched by sheer luck.
I wonder which audience this is intended for. .... Any ideas?
