the ones since 2020 were mostly bad
I started watching them during COVID and then I faithfully watched bc I lived alone and really missed my family, so the family drama was my consolation
but most of those family dramas were ... mediocre at best and often just a hot pile of script... ... like ... million times amnesia in Young Lady and Gentleman....

I liked some parts of Beauty and Mr Romantic bc of the lead actors only
and I liked a lot Iron Family - until it totally colapsed with mama boy

I dropped Eagle Brothers - I couldnt believe that I am dropping a family drama!!! - but it was so stupid I did drop it... and then I dropped Our Golden Days too..... !!!!

and I really liked Recipe for Lvoe but this plot is just ... not something I am willing to watch for weeks and weeks

I am not so much interested in a rom com, perhaps ML FL rom com is just one little subplot.
I am more interested iin FAMILY dynamics - here we have some dinosaur blood thirsty "mother" - supposedly "love evangelist" - who is telling her grown daughter to hate someone and even quit her job. I mean, it is SLAVERY - and the daughter is going along with it!!!!! a grown woman!!!! what the century! like it is year 1800!!!!

To me it is an offense to all women and all children and esp female children, being so bullied into doing something TOTALLY stupid to appease your parent.

It is like ... female child put back into year 1500.
it is like ... hanging onto Joseon family structure in 21st century

To make it 100% clear, I dont think the USA and the West have any good solutions for how to be a family. Families do NOT exist in the USA. Everything is Mice and Ducks - like. Bunch of single people dating and some kids from who knows whom living with some unrelated adults.

But Joseon is certainly not the answer either. From what I understand, Joseon totally messed up Korea and totally killed any women's rights

The answer to having happy families is something TOTALLY different, and I am sure there are cultures who know how to do it.
Native people for sure.
Anyone else? Tibetans and Nepalese? their kids are always smiling.
Maybe Scandinavia has some tips too?
The rest of Europe and Jewish world certainly does NOT. Their parenting is even worse than Joseon.

I have seen american families with amazing kids and I see what works to produce good kids.
Telling kids to hate someone and stay away and quit jobs etc JUST BC THE PARENT WANTS TO BC IT MAKES THE PARENT'S HATE FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE is NEVER going to work

Wow I am so glad I missed all those episodes and the "ambassador of love" spewing vile 1000% hatred - which honestly is her choice - but to see her grown daughter just obey it is CRIMINAL GROSS and I do not want to see any such thing for more than say 1-2 episodes the most.

Start overcoming it already, for goodness sakes!

yeah indeed there is no hard evidence and HY, LH and JH are really a GANG now, and JH is a very important member of it, he got the brains and it really helping the gang push forward.

Sure but I dont want to watch 2 hateful families feuding for weeks and weeks. This is a FAMILY drama so I am expecting some kind of progress towards having a FAMILY

precisely - this is a FAMILY drama. So keeping this hatred and feud in the family is totally dumb nasty waste of drama time. That's my opinion. It is ok to have that plot, but to keep dragging it is NOT ok

With all due respect, I disagree with all points but the last 2 - in fact, I think your points 1-4 made the drama more fun. .

Imo it was bad pacing but not for the reasons you mentioned, and definitely, these last episodes are a circus.

Imo the fundamental mistake is that characters stayed the same, there is no character growth. That is just NOT fun.
the drama was kept STALE - the characters were kept STALE -
and what makes it fun is inner conflict showing as external conflict and attempts to remedy

Specifically, the writer made mistakes bc:
JM was made too dumb and ignorant and SLOOOOOW like molasses, So this thick, slow, dumb character was made the lead for most of the drama. ooooommmmmm ggggggoood... she killed the pace. She kept it at the tortoise speed.

DUMB MI KILLED THE DRAMA BC SHE IS SO DUMB AND SLOW. JM should have had much less time on the screen, and SR should have had a lot more time on the screen.

SR was fun, smart, peppy, and every episode with her was fun, but she was in like .. 5? episodes lmao and then killed. SR SHOULD HAVE HAD A LOT MORE TIME

BH was made perfect from the get go and so one dimensional Superman who is slightly dumb but always steady faithful, such ONE DIMENSIONAL FLAT CHARACTER with the personality of cardboard. He was like a pion and servant of JM. We never saw him wrestle with any emotional dilemmas, or think, or stand up to JM, etc. He just WAS THERE as steady and unmovable as a rock. Watching rocks for too long is boring.

The only time BH was interesting was when he snagged JM from the wedding with JH. But ... they never talked about it later and BH and JM did not really change. They both stayed the same and their relationship stayed the same old STALE. Bummer. Having BH and JM "frozen" in their ignorant selves was just B O R I N G. We never saw them rehash stuff, argue, etc.

We never saw any real contact between JM and BH. There is absolutely NO affection besides a few words in like ep 120 from JM... BH tried to kiss her like a teenager would.... THEY NEVER TALK FOR REAL, they never argue, they never work out their disagreements, differences, character flaws.... They never think of how to improve themselves for the other ... esp JM has put ZERO effort into this relationship... BH had to chase her...
and the end result is the two of them sitting around office table talking about how to catch HY.

JM-BH relationship is like between two comrade spies, not between two ppl in love... It is a relationship only on paper.... In other words, THIS DRAMA TOTALLY LACKS ROMANCE AND LOVE. JM and BH behave like two people who were married for the last 100 years and now are old and tired of each other and just thinking how to take down a nasty neighbor...

JH was made mean from the start and he got meaner and meaner. He was interesting for a short while when we saw how flustered he was to find his bio mom and when for a second we saw his gentle needy side. HOWEVER, that was for a split second and then he was back to being cruel mean greedy selfish. Now he is a perfect gang boss in HY's gang.
JH AND SR ARE THE MOST COMPLEX CHARACTERS IN THIS DRAMA AND WE JUST NEVER GOT TO SEE THAT!!!! SR was taken off screen
and JH actor is just unskilled to act this role. He just cannot act it. It should have been given to another actor.

It was good to see how HJ operates but she too was made one dimensional. We never got to see what made her so evil. Even Darth Wader started off as a good guy... it was cool to see for 1 ep for like 10 mins how HY manipulates the Lapdog - and it would have been good to see a LOT more of that.

The Lapdog too was made one-dimensional. To make the drama good, we should have seen HJ and Lapdog more closely - their past, their current - is he just her right hand, they never sleep together and she keeps abusing him???? So WHY is he so loyal to her???? we should have seen the Lapdog wrestle within himself and then with HY about her treatment of him, about her having a lover, we should have seen confrontations between HY and Lapdog, we should have seen Lapdog sink his teeth into the Professor.

Chairman Ma, the Gold Diggers, JM's family, etc are all ... too bland as well
Chairman Ma perhaps is the only one in the drama that made progress to some degree. He was a greedy rat who protected HY and threw JM's family under the bus and despised SK as a disabled person - and he repented that - BUT then he became a gang leader and kidnapped and tortured the other gang.

The scenes of torturing HJ and Lapdog to the point of bleeding and lack of water and food were certainly killing the drama.

JH did the illegal bonsai thing with HY, then he tried to cover up the loss by swindling the biggest shareholder,
he kept quiet about crimes of his bio family

and he lured SR to the plastic surgery, he is an accomplice. ANd when he heard what happened, he said he didnt care for SR.

There must be other stuff I am not remembering right now

I missed to watch that part, but I saw posts about the illegal company via bonzai trees. So JH DID DO ILLEGAL STUFF WITH HY

Finally the drama shows where JH and JM's actions veering off course were leading - to many disasters, shattering any illusion that JH is a good guy or that JM is a great strategist

Someone on MDL said they are not from Asia or Korea, and then said they are from North Korea. I said well that is Asia and Korea and they basically cussed at me for ignorantly offending them.. Wth. The world map shows that N Korea is in Asia and it is Korea, the N part... so what wrong did I say? Thanks.
