To me, this drama had romance as the pivotal plot driver. FL and ML fell in love.... we see her flustered, we see him caring... She was a good girl and demanded of him to make some positive moves and was totally against gangstering and stealing, and *that* was the inspiration for him to change his ways and start helping. SHE caused him to act differently. HER INFLUENCE ON HIM is the major shape shifter in this drama.

and their love did not progress because he loved gangstering more than her. But then her influence just kept chipping away his gangstering armor and he made more and more choices that SHE liked.
imo THAT is the base plot, the "meta plot", of this drama.

Imo this drama is thriller and romance intertwined. The main driving plot is the love between ML and FL - mostly "good girl" FL inspired ML to act as a good guy. But ML loved gangstering more than he loved her, so nothing happened between them. I haven't watched last ep and apparently he changed his ways permanently, so FL will be a part of his new life for sure. The "brothers" already thought so too.

So it is rather dumbfounding that ppl did not see their romance... or that ppl say they hate romance dramas... ? wth ... is there life without romance? WHICH story is not gonna have romance somewhere??? ?

And FYI not all romance dramas are trash, A good romance drama is very uplifting and inspirational. But is rare :) Too many rom coms are trashy. Too many melodramas are ... too soapy. So to find the right balance... is not easy... BUT EXISTS! I can think of some amazing love stories I watched in kdramas that were super meaningful and fun to watch...

Love Divine... Discovery of Love.. I Need Romance part 3 the noona couple... Positively Yours... Twinkling Watermellon... Goblin.. My Boyfriend is a Gumiho.... My Mister... most of Love Tracks ...
Even Spring Fever and My Dearest Nemesis...
are all very meaningful positive romances..
These are my top picks from the top of my head, but if I look at my watchlist, I can find some more, like Good Day to Be a Dog, HeeSu from Class 2, Good Doctor, etc
I really liked the fun ones like Legend of the Blue Sea and My love from the Star

and yeah the value of romance is when it OVERCOMES PROBLEMS so that's why we see the villains.
I learned the hard way, a romance that cannot overcome villains is NOT the real thing :)
So there HAS TO BE VILLAINS TO TEST ROMANCE :)

In this drama, the villain to the ML-FL romance is ML's insistence to stay a gangster

they were in love, but he loved gangstering more than her, so nothing happened. If he indeed did leave gangstering at the end, then she will become his lady. So did he, or did he not?

ah no... this drama is REAL. Everything that Lizard said, happens in real life... the plot of this is from real life ... stealing apartment building comon funds is THE REALITY
the drama was too nice and did not go further into STEALING APARTMENTS by the Board of directors and the manager and bribed judges... which is also reality in real life in the usa

This drama key plot development is ENTIRELY based on the romantic feelings between ML and FL that inspire him to behave like a good guy. You need to rewatch the scenes to see her flustered and him caring for her

And then there is sheer trash like Dynamite Kiss, Perfect Crown, etc. very toxic stories sold under the "romance" and "true love" tag. Those are scams :)

I havent watched last 2 episodes but apparently he turned a new leaf permanently?

Imo the drama became boring bc ML-FL and their ACTIVE INTERACTIONS are not there, they are not trying to solve the first ghost case, and we got too see too much of the villain, who is boring to death.

The key villain here, SML, is just a weak actor and he is dead on the screen. His script is not bad but he just doesnt make it come alive. So... yeah the villain is boring here.
Adjuma villain is crafty bc the actress is very skilled - e.g. she changes her voice and tone lmao it is hilarious - and HR is not a bad villain ... but the main SML villain is blah bland boring. He has about the same face and acting in every scene

and .. everything that dramas show is same old - it is always the same - battle between good and evil, ppl falling in and out of love, first kisses...

but we do NOT complain about plots with people in love and first kisses... Or good guys fighting bad guys.... But that too is same old same old lmao

There is nothing new under the sun... all stories are ultimately the same meta story.... so... what makes each story unique?

Imo The writing is boring not necessarily bc of the issue but bc of the boring plot created with it, and bc of incompetent villain actor

Think of amazing villains who were obsessed with love and created ... Scarlet Heart Ryeo and many other high quality dramas

and you hear me - roaches are boring and same old but they ARE THERE in great numbers, never stopping. These obsessed ppl feed on other ppl, they think they NEED that someone special and in fact, they do get some tangible benefits from it. So it is a never ending game that is just boring and ugly and wastes time. BUT IT IS THERE. You eat food, roaches come, you try to stomp them, kill them, clean your kitchen, ... anything... and they still keep coming.

Sure MH was oozing some venomous look to his brother. Then we see the accident, Ep 9 min 45, but the scene is super fast so I might have seen it wrong, but it looks like an accident to me - the boat hit a rock and everyone lost balance -
but ... maybe MH misused the incident to push his brother over? but his face was so shocked, it didnt look like it -

So let's see what drama will reveal

yeah ep 9 and 10 are weak. We dont get to see ML-FL enough, they are NOT working hard on the first ghost she saw, and there is too much of very weak side plots of the villains... The villains are weak.. Adjuma villain is memorable and great in her role, Ha Ri is ... ok, but the MH villain is just ... blah bland. There is no life in that role. Him on the screen is DEAD.
ML-FL should have worked together on that first ghost, should have at least met him.
This drama just doesnt move on without ML and FL on the screen. Not in shallow sightseeing scenes but in real interactive scenes.
ML is lively and he makes every scene he is in SHINY. FL is a pretty good actress and although her role is more reserved, she is fun to watch. I looove her wardrobe in ep 9/10 - that light blue-green pantsuit and silky navy dress with white coat are my favorites.
But the main villain... honestly... I dont even remember him. He is ... not a good actor. Sorry. SO IF ML AND FL ARE NOT ON THE SCREEN, THIS DRAMA KINDA DIES.

and yeah there is that family blackmail to break up and the insecure FL doing it.
It is STUPID grandma plot... . ML is a prosecutor - and grandma let him have that job and she thinks he is safe???? common

Seems like Koreans are so traumatized with their parents treating them like pieces of furniture they own and moving the furniture around as they please.
SO LET US HELP SOLVE KOREA's GLOBALLY LOWEST BIRTH RATE AND KDRAMAS, ALL AT ONCE.
Clearly kdrama writers do NOT know how to make plot out of two people in love being together and doing something productive. Talking about their dreams and values, doing projects together, etc. AND helping each other overcome character flaws and various problems in their lives. A real partnership.
And yeah helping each other figure out their parents and solve that too.

Seems like kdrama writers - like seems like most everyone in Korea - just does NOT know about this... and is unwilling to try :) so that's why kdrama writers resort to cliche same old plots.

Well I was assuming the worst and I think based on ep 9 min 45, it SEEMS that it did not happen - the scene is fast but it seems like MH did NOT kill his brother. Seems like it was an accident.
Even if he is not a killer, MH is still a slimy poisonous snake and I wonder how far he would go FURTHER than what he is doing now
So is he doing a bloody revenge on a woman he "loves" and who rejected him? Or is he mauling the woman he "loves" to coerce her to be his??? Wth is that psycho doing - is sheer crime, literally

So before I waste time watching the last 2 eps - do the gangsters go back to gangstering?
FL and ML were in love but he was more in love with being a gangster - so he never chose her. in first 10 eps. DID HE STILL CHOOSE GANGSTERING TO THE END?

Then the romance between ML and FL will NOT be possible. And the drama will be a flop as a drama but 100% realistic. Ppl seldom change. But I dont want to watch ordinary ppl doing "same old"
