Episodes 4 and 5 were so bad that I’m considering dropping the show.

First of all, I would need to see statistics before I believe broad claims about what people watch. But that doesn’t mean much.
As for the hotels, what does that even prove? Japan also has plenty of hotels like that, and it is still a very conservative society.
I didn’t claim that Korea is Western. I said that it is becoming more Westernized, meaning that more and more Western elements have entered its culture.

I’ve been writing about this for years. It’s an industry that imposes itself on actors. An actor may simply want to act, but on the other hand, certain things are forced on them in order to become successful. I assume it falls somewhere between being voluntary and being coerced—it depends on how badly you want to succeed and make money as an actor. In Thailand, for example, I assume the situation is much worse; there, it seems to be part of the package.

What you wrote is interesting. On the other hand, it’s not entirely surprising. The film and television industry is pushing things forward, while Korean society itself is still relatively conservative and lagging behind in that respect.

I used to watch Korean dramas about 15 years ago, and back then it was considered quite extreme if there was even a kissing scene. There was one hospital drama where two doctors kissed, and it was seen as very unusual and bold. I don’t remember what year it was from, but it was around the time I stopped watching.

Every now and then, I watched clips from Kdramas on YouTube to see whether there was anything worth watching. It was obvious that there had been a major change.

The current scene you’re talking about is actually quite off-putting. They are only at the beginning of the relationship, and in my opinion, that probably wouldn’t happen in real life . I find it hard to believe, especially considering the ages of the characters.

Maybe this Westernization is less beneficial for us as viewers, but actually better for Korean women, who seem to suffer greatly from oppression

I wonder whether Korean actresses eat at all. How else can you explain how extremely thin they are at that age?

I think his embarrassment is completely understandable. In fact, I think he’s intelligent enough to realize that it’s trash. They both seem intelligent enough to be embarrassed by it. But if they have to act, they act. That’s just how things are today.
And by the way, just because it’s trash doesn’t mean it isn’t entertaining. I enjoy watching it, and I’m sure most people who watch it understand that.

South Korea always strives for perfection in everything, so they always want to be ahead in the race. They’ll keep pushing things further, just as they tend to go all in and become obsessive about anything they believe will move them forward.

I preferred the old-fashioned bunny kisses, but K-dramas haven’t really been conservative for well over a decade now, and the bar keeps getting pushed further. So I’m not sure what era of dramas you mean

I was surprised to find that episode 7 was really excellent.This might be the best episode so far.

It felt very natural and was beautifully done. I wish it would continue like this and that they would keep the same style and humor until the end.

I don’t think that will happen, but I hope it does.

Episode 2 was a bit creepier than the first one... I hope the next episodes will be less creepy.

I keep up with the calendar at the top of the website and select Japan. They don’t have that many series, so you don’t have to scroll too much.

I also get YouTube updates about upcoming series. Once you start visiting the series YT pages, YouTube begins showing you more recommendations in your feed.

They also occasionally have some really excellent web series, so over time those will probably start appearing on your YouTube feed too. You can check out the channel nooto. (ノオト). The only downside is that, unfortunately, not everything is translated.

What do you mean? What didn’t you like about the series, and which series did you like? By the way, there are way more bl series now than there used to be.

I really love the series, but this is the strangest storyline I’ve ever watched in Jbl. None of it makes any sense. I really didn’t expect this in the second episode-it’s so weird, and it also feels very rushed. The characters’ emotions aren’t treated with much depth or realism. Maybe everything was simply sped up too much.

They look much better in their livestreams. I don’t know whether they use filters, but they look several times better there. What’s even stranger is that they seem to have much more chemistry.

I think Chinese dramas often feel very “engineered” and calculated, with very little sense of authenticity. Then, when you suddenly see them live, they seem more human and behave more naturally. In my opinion, their chemistry doesn’t come across on screen in the drama because the characters are too carefully constructed.

I’m on episode 7. I’ll probably finish watching it, but I don’t have that strong urge you get when you’re watching a really good series.

"Blue Lips" It started off light and fun, but I think it's going to become melodramatic, the way Chinese dramas often do.

There's also Bittersweet Love, which I'm really enjoying at the moment.

"Deep In" is hit or miss for me—I like it sometimes and sometimes I don't—but the latest episode was good.

Usually, people who really love Chinese dramas are less into Japanese ones. Are you like that too?
What I mostly love are Japanese series. So, in the end, I recommend all of them. I think Japanese dramas are much more emotional and profound than the Chinese ones, but they're not as melodramatic.

As for Thai series, I don't watch many of them unless I'm just bored.
There is one Thai series, Don't Be Too Emotional, that's nice.

I guess if I were watching it once a week, it would be less frustrating, but it feels like there’s progress and then they keep going backwards, and there’s no communication, which is a bit annoying. Anyway, I’m still watching, so we’ll see how long I stick with it. It’s such a shame because the beginning was light, cute, Chinese dramas tend to do this with their shows.

Yi Chen’s brother really annoys me. I just skip his scenes—he’s unbearable...I don’t understand people like that.

I think that’s the tragic reality of communist China. But on the other hand, movies are supposed to be an escape. It feels like they’re trying to prove to you that it’s not worth being gay in China.
