first of all and as usual, thank you for your detailed analysis.
about the second couple, since the start of the show i though it was built as a triptic. the show is about love, the central piece is Qinlang and Changyang's love (the pure, deep, grounded and fulfilled love. two people that become one and each other's home). on the side we have the unfulfilled love (Qintian's love cut too short by death and Wenshu's unrequited love) and youthfull but shallow love, caught in the storm of modern society. all three parts are fundamental to the story Zelia wants to tell us and bot side panels of the triptic have ripercussions on the main one (you can see QL and CY as the Virgin or Christ on the central panel, while he other couple are the saints in adorations on the sides...and i should probably use Mogao's cave frescoes for a paragon since the show is deeply rooted in chinese culture and Buddhism, but i don't know it very well)
