You said he loved her, and he was offended when she humiliated him in public. Did you even really watch this film. I would have ultimately slapped that bastard trying such rubbish in the first place, and this cannot be regarded as love from her to him. She gave up on every glimpse of hope in life and accepted her stupid fate instead of looking for a way to escape even after she was set free. So, there is no love here, it's all manipulation, narcissistic behaviour and Stockholm syndrome affecting both the male and female lead.
