I’m starting this show soon. Is there any romance? MDL doesn’t tag it as romance, but MDL isn’t always accurate,…
A sub-sub plot for sure. But it's a good watch. I just finished and enjoyed myself. The eye candy alone... The romance is in long, lingering stares. But that's really about it. You can tell they've paired people up, but the plot and the martial arts takes the front seat.
Finally finished and I loved it! Did I love that they killed off some of the people I was rooting for to make it to the end? Nope. But the story had me hooked. I only wish I hadn't watched The Blood of Youth before this- knowing how some of the remaining characters end up. Why do I always hope to see Hou Ming Hao when Baili DongJun is mentioned? Like, he should pop out with a jug of liquor and that devil-may-care smirk of his. 😊
If you haven't watched this universe, I think the correct order to avoid spoilers is: Dashing Youth, Blood River, THEN The Blood of Youth.
I really hope for a Blood River 2 - Or maybe they'll call it Dark River: The Other Shore (I thought one was already TBA, but I can't find it- likely misremembering). I kinda wanna see Su Cheng He find his arc as the main-main next. I love his character quite a bit. He's a bit mischievous with a side of recklessness mixed with cunning intelligence and steadfast confidence that I love. Plus Chang Hua Sen is very easy on the eyes. Like, that swagger on top of his looks? Yes, please!
is the ending worth it / happy ? do they have some triangle in there ?
This was a crazy and weird ride. The WTF moments along with the absurd sound effects mixed in with some crazy chemistry left me, frankly, befuddled as to how I still kept hitting the button for the next episode. But I did it. Will I rewatch? Never. Was I entertained? Yes, somehow I was.
at Episode 17 and the way I look forward to Sang Jiu’s revenge on that hatefully jealous and evil Tian Huan… I imagine her reincarnations are just as detestable- especially the one 500 years later. I really hate woe is me self-victimizing people who bring about their own misery. I always root for their downfall.
Edit: At episode 32 now. Why won’t this chick die?! What? Are they going to give her a redeeming arc where she has some sort of epiphany and switch his sides to save her sister and the man she wronged? Typical. But I don’t want her to have another chance at redemption. I want her to just die.
Edit #2- sigh. I knew it. finally finished this and knew from my dreading of spoilers that this was gonna be a c-trauma- after I had already started watching it. The trauma didn’t disappoint. 😭
I’m a realist. I imagine this drama will only release after they cut out all heavy bromance scenes and glaring innuendos. 58 episodes down to 38-40. I’m sure the effort to edit would be massive and extremely expensive for an already expensive drama. It’s probably more cost effective to just shelve it until the far-off day when China’s conservative Confucianist president/ruler (I say ruler because of his decision to change laws and allow himself to keep his office indefinitely) decides to be more open minded. So many shelves censored dramas. Too bad he doesn’t realize how these shelves dramas would likely propel China into the global market on a scale that would put Thailand to shame. The craze over dramas like The Untamed and Revenged Love prove this. But by all means, let’s perpetuate this archaic belief that family can only consist of one man and one woman only. Because the world really believes this...🙄We fed finally get The SpiRealm though. So maybe there’s a fraction of a seed of hope? I’m curious why GagaOOLala hasn’t obtained the rights to this and other highly anticipated and desired shelved dramas.
I just finished Love in the Clouds n absolutely loved it 😍Do u guys think I’d enjoy this one too?
If you like HMH’s acting, you’ll love him here. The story is beautifully written and acted. It’s not a romance love story. Not really, anyway. More like the unfailing bonds of brotherhood (and sisterhood). Enemies to family. Every time I hear the OST, I’m compelled to return.
I seriously can’t move on from this drama. I keep revisiting to rewatch. It’s an emotional roller coaster but the actors really brought the characters to life. I was deeply vested from the first watch. I wish I could watch again like it was my first time. There aren’t that many dramas I truly believe that for.
