Was going after the uncle and getting into a fight with him foolish? Yes. Because he could have gotten badly hurt. Am I glad he did it? Hell to the yeah.

While he is a gem, I really don't know how you can put in this way "diff between Yifan and SY" as i interpreted…
This is so well said. Romance is great but it's not a fix-all. I think a lot of people have fallen into that drama trope of once the leads get together all their problems disappear and expecting that Yifan getting with Sang Yan would automatically fix her life and don't get why she doesn't do it. Babe is fighting for her life. Sorry to Sang Yan.

I know there are some things which disappointed people in this drama but there are so many things that they did…
This is a fantastic comment. Atp I thought all the adaptation did was butcher the novel given the comments from others who read it. Nice to know they made the story better in a lot of ways.

I see the word "simp", I block. It's the law now.

I love the sensitivity with which the writer handled the SA conversation Yifan had with Sang Yan. The drama has done a fantastic job with the subject.

It just struck me that that bastard was the reason Yifan had to give up dance. Proud of teen Yifan for standing up for herself and reporting to the police.

If this is what creativity means, then I’m not sure it’s the kind we need in a drama. Logically, it would…
"...and when she returns, most of her trauma will be resolved as if she received strength from the Buddha"

But she's not back yet. The drama hasn't show what happens after yet.

"But now, she knows exactly what happened six years ago and how much he suffered because of it."

In what episode does she find out exactly how much he suffered? I must have missed it. Because I'm under the impression that while she has probably realised he remained in love with her, she is still in the dark about the extent of his heartbreak.

The director this, the screenwriter that pls shush. if at this point you don't know a novel and an adaptation are completely different animals I don't know what to tell you. stop thinking of adaptations as an extension of or copy of your fave book. it's not.

The best part of this drama for me is that it shows that falling in love does not heal trauma. It's not some magic wand. Am I mad at Wen Yifan? Yes. Do I empathise with and understand her? Lord yes. Do I feel bad for Sang Yan? Yes. Whose fault is this whole mess? The sexual assaulter and Wen Yifan's family. Those are the people to blame.

Some people never open up about sexual assault/rape. Some people take 40 years. Some take 2 years. Some take 2 days. Some take hours. Any woman who has experienced sexual assault will tell you that there is an element of self-blame that takes a long time to overcome, if you do. In Yifan's case that self-blame was compounded by her family also blaming her. It's internalised. She sees herself as the problem. And the only way she knows to fix things is to remove herself. So to make sure Sang Yan does not get hurt she thinks leaving is the only option.

It's easy to put all your sympathies with Sang Yan because you're watching the drama and seeing his POV. Yifan does not have that luxury. She doesn't know how much he suffered and how much that man loves her. Much in the same way Sang Yan did not know everything she went through all those years. What makes him a great character though is that he doesn't blame her. That's invaluable.

As an adult, FL should have faced her family problems head-on. This time, ML should solve her problems and leave…
As an adult, the FL should do whatever the hell she needs to to protect herself and the ones she loves from her sexual assaulter.

You said they didn't interrupt because "Dad was allowing her speak and express herself to Yan" and I'm pointing out that they didn't interrupt because they were shocked. Correlation does not imply causation here. (I do agree though that the doctor shouldn't have interrupted. It would have been better to let her read him for filth and get it off her chest. Not like it'd have gotten through to him. That man is deaf to anything but his ego. Which is why I'm also not too mad the doctor stepped in.)

Best thing the ex did was break up with her. Because she would have married that man and been miserable with him for the rest of her life.

Weren't they more shocked by her revelations than anything else? They had no idea how badly the ex had treated her and were hearing it for the first time. The mum was crying and the dad was comforting her.

The hate is deep with you. Take this negativity elsewhere. The series has barely started and you're already trying to bias people against one sibling with the hate you have for the other. And just so its clear this bogeyman y'all have created out of Cha Jungwoo and refused to see the truth will haunt y'all for a long long time. Enjoy.

Fave scene was when he put that asshole in his place. ML is immature in certain ways but he would totally be a badass CEO. Not someone anybody can trample on. That's the only silver lining in his situation.

The first kiss thing? The question isn't whether it's realistic. It's whether it's believable. And there's so much ridiculousness and clichés in the plot that it fits right in. Given the context of how he has lived so far and the hawk eyes the grandma has on him etc, it's believable. You're looking for realistic in the wrong drama.

I'm surprised everyone doesn't know this by now. When I see comments insulting the writers I laugh because they've got you right where they want you. I treat these dramas as a way to let off steam. Makjang are great stress relievers.

Paused to say that mum is terrible. How do you house the same person that abused your daughter? And rolling down the sleeves of her stepdaughter and asking her to cover herself like that's supposed to mean something? When you could have just you know, NOT LET A SEXUAL ASSAULTER INTO YOUR FUCKING HOME. I'm so mad rn because this bs plays out in homes all over the world where young girls are expected to take responsibility for the behaviour of fucktards. And if they get abused? They still get blamed. (If there is some grand forgiveness redemption arc for the mum at the end of the drama I'm going to rate it a 2.)

The agency did crappy job since they let him waste away almost 10 years without any dramas or romantic lead roles.…
Don't you think you're projecting a little? There are tons of male actors in their 40s/50s who look their age and are getting jobs steady. Waste away how? He's been in some of the biggest dramas and films and variety show in his years at the agency. You might want to have seen in him more romance but that does not mean the agency stopped him (we're talking about The Jo Insung here) from taking them? Come on.

I read the comments before watching ep 13 and thought the FL had done something terrible of epic proportions and all she did was say "I'm not ready to be in a relationship." Isn't that the adult thing to do? I like that she was decisive and given her very recent experience in a relationship it makes sense that she wants to avoid being in the same position again.

As to the kiss, she had just found out that he has a crush on her, and was clearly very drunk with lowered inhibitions. Shit happens.

That said, I look forward to them having a proper conversation. I don't even think they should date right away. Xi Fan was in a relationship two seconds ago and still has baggage. There's so much they still need to learn about each other. Last thing they both need is to jump into a long-distance relationship.

And that student doctor was way out of pocket. Glad the good doctor put an end to it pronto.

And she did not apologise. Nor did he take her to task for it. All swept under the rug.

Am I missing something? Are Lin and Xiang Ya dating or they're just friends? Why does she sound like he's abandoning her? I thought he had a one-sided crush.
