Li Ni didn't really have big ambition to begin with, he just wanted to quell rebellion and re-instate rightful heir. He's a forgotten prince and unfavored child so he's a bit emotional and valued his comrades. His wit is working when he needed to. He prepared things beforehand and play by ear. The rest is just to let life goes on.

She knows Zhenxi army got no business saving the Cui army but the fact that they did come when things mostly over, she knew Li Ni already foresee this attack, so she venting her self blame for her bro's death on Li Ni. If Li Ni is not important to her, she would have brushed off it as their defeat, but the fact that she threw her grief on Li Ni looks like she's fallen deeper for him. That blurred the line between Cui and Zhenxi in her mind.

He got no qualm to sacrifice Zhenxi army because he can kill two birds with 1 stone (revenge on Li Ni, save Yingzhou). Imagine if there's no jealousy involved or no romance between Li Ni and A Ying. What strategy he will used.

From my point of view I saw her disappointed that it was Li Ni who let it happen despite knowing the whole plan, she wished it was other people in Zhenxi army who responsible for it.
