This drama is a Greek tragedy

Listening Snow Tower depicts a world of scheming, misunderstandings and revenge. The plot revolves around the male & female leads complicated love story.

Everything that can be toxic in any relationship is used in this drama to make you doubt, hate, cry for the characters. No characters is actually sane & well balanced.

What I liked ?
It is a slow pace drama with a lot of sub characters that help to build the entire plot & explain the complicated feelings that ML & FL feel for each other.
Great fighting scenes with amazing choreographies.
The colors and the way it’s filmed changes from your typical wuxia (same director than The Destiny of the White Snake with zoom-in on the eyes of character to emphasize on a feeling).
The story background with the eternal fight between the sects is typical in wuxia drama but a good one.

What I didn’t like?
This drama is like a Greek tragedy!
A’Jing & Xiao Yiqing love each other deeply, yet alwaya doubt each other words & actions. Yet, as soon as, they are wounded, poisoned, captured (happens every 2 episodes), they’ll spend their time risking their life to save the other one. After few episodes, this scenario becomes too redondant.
I’m a bit tired of this kind/naive character that turns evil because they don’t get what they want, which only proves they were selfish to begin with.
Gao Mo Fei is the character I understood the least! Why does he want to hurt, even kill, his sister? All of this because he was tired of pugilistic world & fell in love with a woman who doesn’t love him?

It is a betrayal after another ... and this is how the entire plot is unfold all along the drama.

HEARTWARMING

This show was absolutely charming. Will make you smile, cry, feel good.
It is about friendship, giving to others, in a sustainability, environment background.

I love all the cast and particularly Kim Go Eun, Lee Ji Ah, Lee Dong Wook and Onew ... The show allows us to see them in a new light and you learn to love them as persons rather than for their characters.
Onew will amaze you with his voice. SHINee's doesn't need to be introduced, superstars from 2nd gen kpop groups, but to see Onew amongst other artists and see is kind and altruist personality will melt your heart.
Lee Dong Wook and Kim Go Eun will surprise you with their performances as they can sing pretty well.

The part timers have all amazing voices and legends like Sunwoo Jung-a honoured the show of their presence. When she sang Selene 2.23 with Onew .... be ready to tear up.

Last but not least, the talented Jeong Dong-hwan & Zai.Ro play every songs live and make every performance seem flawless. They are very talented musicians and song writers !

A show to watch and rewatch !

One of C-Drama masterpieces

If you hesitate watching this drama, don't anymore!
This drama is based on Heavy Sweetness, Ash-like Frost by Dian Xian. The storyline is well written, starting with a sense of lightness and some suspens to start plot. Deng Lun makes you fall in love with Xufeng, while Andy Yang makes you laugh and cry with Jinmi. All characters are complex enough but well defined to give the story more texture, such as relations between the 2 brothers who respected & loved each other, but grew to take different paths. You can't wait to know what will happen in next episode. Decors are magnificent and CGI will not disappoint you either. Be ready to smile, jump in your seat, cry (a lot), be angry, fall in love .... Ashes of Love will make you dive into its xianxia universe!
I have watched the drama 3 times already on Netflix and can't get over it. The chemistry between the 2 main characters melts your heart, and the second lead roles have nothing to envy to main roles.
It is a must watch ! You will not regret it. It is sublime !

Excellent cast, poor storyline

I guess as many, I watched this novice because of the cast! No need to mention all great actors in this movie and I loved Lee Je Hoon in Taxi Driver. I found that he fits well this type of roles in action movies!
This story started well, then there is no storyline but a chain of action & violence. Nothing that wasn’t already done and I have to admit that American or European movies of this genre are by far more entertaining.

The vilain is a vilain for no valid reason, there could have been a plot behind the hard drives with VIP guests & politicians or even with the police .... nothing but a succession of gunfire until the end. The chase finally ends when suddenly the most logical thing happened ... several armed men cane to kill him.

And the end ..... I start to hate these obvious, quick, not thought ends just to give a hint that there will be a suite! What could it be? Vilain vs hero part 2 ? Probably!

If you want to play something in the background while you do something else ... it’s a movie for you!

One of best melodramas

You are hooked In first episodes with the enigmatic storyline. You fell in love with Kim Moo Young but also feels wary towards him.
All the twists and mystery around the 2 main characters keep you in suspense. The passion and the complicated character of the male lead is the most interesting one. It feels real, well written and the scenarists actually did an amazing job to depict such complicated emotions.

Two things made me tick though! When Yoo Jin Gook stabbed Kim Moo Young. When you finally understand how they’re related and what Yoo Jin Gook did to his father, the way he treated him didn’t make sense, and to want to kill him was way out of the picture and didn’t fit the regrets and guilt that he felt.
And then it is how Yoo Jink Kang reacted to that vs how she felt completely desperate when she learned her brother killed Kim Moo Young’s father. It felt strange and also out of place.

We will learn only in the last episode who she really is and how the 2 main characters are intertwined.
Regardless, these flaws, the drama worked for me as the psychology of the characters is really well written and makes you question how you would react in these scenarios. Human beings are indeed complicated animals.

Started well and then completely fell out

I’ll be brief. This is a cute and original story. The FL is really cute, ML acts well and all other characters are all doing an amazing job.
Problem is that in the middle of the drama, the characters start not to make sense at all. Ms Ahn is the worst. She doesn’t accept her son, claims she does this for her step son, refused to help her son when the only person who loved him died ... but then intervened and literally forced Seulbi to leave her son pretending that it’s better for him to be all alone!
Then, the step son ..... how immature can you be? It hurts. I can get it, but to be violent with your step mom, to hurt the only persons who were there for you to feel better .... and the father who is a cop, doesn’t do a thing when he realizes the situation. This kid needed a good slap to get some sense out of him. And so the mom/step mom!
Now the FL..... her cuteness and kindness becomes annoying cause she is so naive that she keeps being wronged without fighting back or at least avoiding to be involved in more problems.
The bullies ..... no comment. Characters are as frustrating as above. And same goes for Angel sunbae!

Overall this could have been an amazing drama, unfortunately it felt short. Just be warned that this drama might disappoint you after the 1st 10 episodes !

It’s a typical BBC thriller for you

I hesitated to watch this drama for a long time! The cast is amazing on paper but based on reviews I’ve read and trailer, I was very hesitant to watch this remake of a classic British thriller from the 90s. (Especially with the music).
The actors did an amazing job! Wow! What a cast!
The story is interesting and intriguing since the start of the drama .... the relationship between the brothers make you think about what would you do in this situation? Are monsters born or made?
Unfortunately, the relationship between the murderer and the two brothers is lacking for me! Both kids are actually geniuses, one good, or are they? But both don’t feel any hate or anything towards the man who killed their father! Cause the story actually started there .... if he didn’t kill their father, the brothers wouldn’t have been separated. Of course, we only can assume based on the murderers point of view that their life would have been miserable as they were misunderstood by their father.
In conclusion, I’d like the drama but it didn’t live up to my expectations. I feel that there is something lacking, which is the profiler could have arrested the murderer All along .... as they did with other suspect throughout the 16 episodes.

Ps: and the gf wanna be talking to the brother in ML’s name made me cringed

Good Action, Poor Story

Available on Netflix and with its great cast, i wanted to give it a try. I am an amateur of action movies and this movie has its share of action, violence, combat scenes. Unfortunately, this is all it got. The story stays vague, the doubts of the main character, the love story, the political issues ... nothing is elaborate. The way it was filmed gives you this melodramatic vibe while the viewer will have to slalom between the violent action scenes. As a result, this movie did not make sense to me. It was not entertaining enough as an action movie, nor it was melodramatic or romantic as it tried to be.

1st half of the story is a gem !

This drama is really cute and the way it was filmed gives it the feeling of Hollywood movies of 90s (ref to Sleepless in Seattle).
It is your classical love story but It also approaches issues that we don't really speak about in Chinese dramas. Evan Lin is stunning in his role and the FL acted well her character. Wu Yan is refreshing, bold, fearless, kindhearted but also childish and hot tempered.
The music that is a central part of this drama to vehicle the different characters emotions is also beautiful. The dialogues and quotes are well written and make most of the exchanges between ML and FL very heartwarming. You are hooked from the start and can't help to fall in love with main characters ... until ....

Unfortunately, the 2nd part of the drama started to fall out and i didn't like the reactions of the FL to create misunderstandings, sad parts in the story .... it didn't feel right and even idiotic.
The 2nd lead couple's story isn't strong enough and could be removed of the scenario without making any difference in the overall story. That's too bad, as the scenario could have been better to create characters with more complex emotions and connexions.

Overall, the drama is worth watching ... but you will feel a difference between its first and second half. There are some issues in the script that leave you disconcerting.

I wish the drama would have been better !

The drama starts with a beautiful night scenery, martial art fight and music. The strong female lead character enters and the plot starts to fall down with intrigues that keep you hooked.... until episode 15-17.
Then there are a lot of holes in the plot, maybe due to the too many twists in the story, but lot of scenes unfold without making lot of sense and you can fast forward the drama and still understand everything.
Now, Leo Luo actes brilliantly as always .... his character is my favorite. Jing Chao was a bit disappointing though as I found his expression was the same whatever emotion he tried to demonstrate.

⚠️ ATTENTION HUGE SPOILERS !!! ⚠️

- It is so frustrating that Rong Le is not intrigued by her pay and flash backs. She never looked for her true identity (but 2/3 lines in the scenario) until Xiang takes initiative to find the truth after only one sentence she heard (“-“)
- Episode 15 - Long yue dies to allow the princess to escape, yet she doesn’t and so she died for absolutely nothing. Prince Li was literally 2min away on his horse yet ..... he never arrived while Rong Le is stopped by her brother, she is screaming, crying ...
- That scene when Xiang and Rong Le cry and fall asleep together and never talk about it ... is so weird. We know from that their relationship as viewers. But that scene isn’t well captured in the scenario.
- Rong Le knows martial arts and don’t hesitate to fight against dozens of men but don’t stand against 1 man when majesty’s life is threaten, nor to get rid of one of the main male leads
- Episode 40 - She knows how unhappy she was when she was forced to marry someone she doesn’t love ... yet she offers Ya Li to marry General Luo. Then Ya Li turns into a vilain that is completely out of character because she feels alone. She loves 1 then another one ... so weird.
- There are some politics intrigues but from a scene to another, wars are settled
- After the adultery episode, she comes suddenly comes back from Chen with Wi You and the warhorses and the matter is also settled just like that.
Episode 52 - princess comes back to southern land freed of all doubt of adultère because they came back with horses from Chen ! Just like that ...
- Episodes 56-57 are so frustrating. My heart aches for Emperor Qi. He is The real hero/victim is actually Emperor Qi! He never had anything, his mother never gave him love, and he lost the only person he ever loved ... while she hated him all along, he actually saved her multiple times and did everything in his power for her to be happy with the man she loves ! Yet, she doesn’t understand his actions while she can understand General Chou and Wu You ??‍♀️
And when did Ke arrive ? The only episode that actually made me cry is the last one .... for emperor Qi and love that Rong Le should have had for him all along ?

Unfortunately, disappointing drama!

I am a fan of Zhao Lusi, so i started watching this drama. It is definitely not one of her best roles. There are a lot of holes in the story and it creates a lack of chemistry between the 2 main characters. Zhen Yechen does a great job in his role of Fu Jiu Yun, showing different sides of his character; detached, romantic, playful, determined. We understand the love of Fu Jiu Yun for Qin Chuan based on the scenario but it is hard for the viewer to perceive the right emotions. And during, the first 20 episodes, it is easy to be annoyed by Qin Chuan and her stubbornness as she doesn't want to acknowledge and disregard what others sacrifice for her. She never doubts her plan, while her plans all failed and all the characters around her risk their own lives to save her multiple times. Xuan Zhu's character is as limited as the FL's one. One only focus on her revenge, while the other one is just obsessed by Zi Chen, and both make same mistakes due to their lack of clairvoyance and open-mindedness.
The story itself is a good idea and i feel overall this drama could have been way better if the characters were a bot more developed.
This is a drama i would not re-watch as once you know Fu Jiu Yun's story, nothing else is relevant or pleasant enough to watch the 30 episodes all over again.

Great story but too many holes

Ok, so first I watched a lot of ghost, spirit, horrors movies/tv shows. The story is original and it tied the 3 main characters pretty well.
First episode set the drama in a gore/horror atmosphere that won’t last. Other episodes until 9, were pretty slow to me and repetitive.

When I watch a movie/tv show, I’m pretty picky about the characters. The story can be simple, not elaborated, revisited, it won’t bother me as long as characters have some depth. In this drama, the characters communicate 80% of the time by yelling. I find that emotions aren’t right ..... Hwa-Pyung and the inspector are just 2 angry people acting recklessly and doing whatever they want, when they actually don’t have any power to stop possession or to stop Park Il Do! The only one who actually shows diverse emotions is the priest, Choi Yoon. And during all this screaming .... it seems they are all alone in public places as no one reacts or does wayyy too late. There are also some inconsistencies in the story that made me sigh a little. Episode 1, Hwa-Pyung can see ghosts before being possessed, yet every single time he explained his link with Park Il Do, he says he’s like this since he was possessed.

I’m at episode 10, skipped some episodes as some are very slow and yet I still can follow the storyline.
There is more mystery around the priest and evolution in his character, this is why you’ll keep watching it. I hope it will get better and better as I had high expectations for this drama, and so far it didn’t meet them

Amazing production with solid plot and interesting characters.

It has been a long time that a drama kept me interested until last episode !
Novoland: Pearl Eclipse's story is nicely built up and you want to see more and more until the last 48th episode.

I loved everything about this drama; the witty dialogues, the bromance between Xu and Jiangmin, the Eunuch who is so kind and pure to the emperor, the love between Jifeng brothers ... every part of the story is beautifully assembled to keep us craving for more at every episode.

Novoland: Pearl Eclipse disrupted the usual C drama dialogues and surprised you with twists and jokes.
The script is brilliantly written. But has nothing to envy to the scenery that is breathtaking or the fight scenes that are so well filmed and choreographed.

I will recommend you to watch this drama, even if you havent seen the previous released Novoland dramas or the read the books. It will not ruin your experience and will love this drama as much.

Unpopular review

In first episodes, you’re hooked to the strong fl character who goes against principles & values of the time and fights to decide her own fate. The mysteries and many twists & turns makes the drama different and interesting … at first.
Yet, more the story unfolds, more you realize that the fl is just a fickle, childish, stubborn girl who doesn’t hesitate to throw her family under the bus based on her intuition rather than believing in any of them. She is lucky to have met Liang Yi who saved her from her infortunes so many times and Qin Xuan who loves her sincerely.
She actually ruined & hurt so many people simply because she prefers to trust her intuition rather than trusting anyone and accepting how others could be different than her.
Her lack of values made me hate step by step the fl. Now at episode 22, I am fast forwarding episodes to finish it quickly.
I’m also not convinced by the actors play in this drama, I didn’t find this chemistry btw the leads that so many talked about. And because the script writer wanted to focus on the twists, many opportunities to make the fl & ml shine we’re missed.
And once you’ve seen them all, you can’t watch this drama again, as you know it all.

Your cute typical drama

My review will be brief! This story is cute, well written, dialogues are fluid, there is a good cast, the actors play well, there is good chemistry between main & second lead couples! All the ingredients of your typical kdrama are reunited in this scenario! There aren’t twists and the plot isn’t complicated! And it works! It’s a hit in South Korea. It was released on Netflix at the same time than other kdramas that might be better! This a drama to watch and enjoy, but nothing new to expect!
