Screenwriter knows how to create the most pain, give life to the village for 17 eps, make audiences connect with…
THIS! It's what I value most about the drama and what justifies the "slow" pace some percieve this drama to have. I rarely connect with side characters like this, but they did it so well. Every body we saw I was just like gasp.... gasp... GAsP.... GAAASSPPPPP
That's true... she maybe shouldn't have realized right away but I assume it's been a couple days since she returned…
Yeah, they're doing so well, they are making me forget about stuff only to remind me that they never forgot. Like I forgot about the arm cuffs lol This show is making us use 100% of our brain lol
I was a wreck! That scene where she was sobbing for Ning. I’ve never thought anything of the FL’s acting before…
I saw her in New Life Begins and loved her there but her character didn't have as much range as Chang Yu. I'm so glad we can see her full potential with this. Yesss the desperation how will I bare!
same here , the emotional scenes were performed so beautifully. apart from Yan Zhang and changyu even Li daren…
Everyone, solid cast. It just made everything more heart wrenching. I really love Old lady Kong and yes even Li Huai An. Tian Xi Wei is my goat, she is killing this performance. Not just the sad scenes, she is stealing the whole show.

It might be bad writing, a mistake, stuff like this happens so often. Like how she didn't know it was him with the mask on even though she saw him wearing a mask like a few days ago. This is just an example. I'm sure they thought this one more through... it's a different mask, she's in shock, she's being chased by someone, his clothes are even different. I'd like to assume it's the same thing for the ribbon, maybe she's in shock or someone took it off for her after she fainted. From trailers, it looks like they make a symbol out of this ribbon, so I'm sure we'll see some explanation for it.
I'm currently in shambles after today's episodes. Truly no filler episode, I was glued to my seat today. One thing I love to see in dramas is sad scenes, that is just one way I can tell if we got great actors and great writing.
Definitely, I appreciate subtlety, nuanced facial expressions, expressive eyes, all tell-tales of a good actor. But my number one thing I look for is a sad scene: when someone dies, that we should supposedly care about, I want to see that the leads care too. Not just a single tear down their face (unless it suits the character).
Today... both actors hit the nail. Chang Yu, when she saw all those people, broke my heart. She got me screaming shaking sobbing crying throwing up... I could feel how helpless she felt at the graveyard scene. I could feel how worried she was for her sister. And it is believable that she is so heartbroken, we as an audience have built a relationship with all these people too. We know all of them.
Xie Zheng also did great. He is more of a stoic character, and even though there were only a few tears, I could see how scared he was of losing Chang Yu. The scenes fit him so well, and he delivered it well.
The Li Nan massacre was horrible. Most of the villagers were massacred by that Sui Mad Prince. Qi Min is also…
She must've thought it was that guy still chasing her. I don't judge her for running away. She knows that creepy Sui prince likes her so she doesn't doubt he'd call himself her husband. For why Marquis Wu An still hiding his identity from her, I'm not so sure.
Can we talk about how good of a storyteller Zeng Qingjie is?The exposition (Lin'an County Arc) truly established…
Very well said! People were complaining about how nothing is happening but they didn't realize the importance of these scenes. It may have felt slice of life for the first 15 or so episodes but we were establishing relationships. The show gave us a reason to care for them. With this scene, a lot of their arc's came full circle, just a symbol of good writing. My heart ached so much when they killed off these people. Currently balling ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Btw maybe a spoiler tag?
We were long enough in delulu hoping they would be toxic in the "traditional" way, but no. This is just…
Very well said... It made me so uncomfortable, people who will romanticize is now are simply begging for scraps... which I can understand, but as you said what they are showing here is clearly not romantic.
The scene with her eating the food I was waiting for him to tell her stop! But when he did, it wasn't they way I was expecting. Just as you said, he was satisfied. That really cemented that there is nothing beautiful about this couple, and any hope for it in me died there.
I thought fan was going to realize it was Xie Zheng who saved her because he tied her hair up with the ribbon…
That's true... she maybe shouldn't have realized right away but I assume it's been a couple days since she returned to xigu alley and must've done up her hair lol

How am I going to handle the next 14 hours....
