Okay thank god cause holy sht was he unlikeable in the novel lmao! Red as helllll!!! I was like this is gonna be new to see in a c-drama, like literally liked her instantly and harassed her until somehow she accepted him. No real plot, for at least half the novel I've gotten through. But I do think the character traits will be interesting to see in this plot.

Is this description correct? Cause I'm reading the novel, I'm at chp 17, and there is no mention of any assassination or working at a meeting house. Are they changing the story heavily or is the description wrong?

I think solid is the perfect word for this drama. In literally every regard! I can't even list it out because so much has happened in this show, and it was done so well omggggg.

My short review: This show is somehow ordinary and so special. We see our characters fall to rock bottom pretty much from the start, climb the ladder of success like in most dramas, but then realize the view was not worth their difficult climb. As a viewer, I did not want them to rise to the top, unlike in other dramas, this climb was bitter sweet.... yet so savoury haha. This story was told so well, interesting ploys from both our heroes and villains, it did not drag for a second, maybe moved a little too fast. Some scenes felt like it was missing a buffer, but that is with many shows nowadays with the episode restrictions. Besides their ploys, our characters had so much depth. The leads were not boring, the villains didn't feel caricaturish, and all the side characters had a purpose. Beautiful show, beautiful messages, highly recommend to everyone. It's just one of those shows...

Not even pretty privilege, she went crazy, and crazy her is spitting facts! What can I say lmao. If she was sane and she said these things, it wouldn't hit hard because her character hasn't earned a happy arc, but if she's crazy, she still loses!

it was heart breaking, I just finished the episode, but it's likely to show what reaching for power does to someone. A couple times we've heard Tingyun's concern that he will be consumed by the flames. He had to do something so horrible, but look what it got him. The entire rest of the episode acknowledges this situation as confusing for the characters. I wish it could've been written better, with time in mind, because we really couldn't fight to prove him innocent (besides saying "he would never do that" ??!)

I KNEW YUCHENG WOULD DIE! There was no way out of it. Zhao Ling already earned his loyalty by freeing his mother and welcoming him to his crew. We couldn't have another repeat of loyalty on loyalty. I just wish his death was more justified... I like that he is the 16th head they needed, especially after taking credit for the 16 civilian heads, it's only fitting, his karma. But instead of him saying he's tired, and hearing his mother's lasts words, we get stronger correlation. It would've made for a good last monologue from him. ALSO WHY WOULD A'SEN TELL HIM ABOUT HIS MOTHER THEN LMAO

We're slowly learning how ruthless he can be, cause initially he didn't come off that way... worried it will cause problems in the future though
