Minor what? She willing to act, with her parent consent, and u here barking like a mad dog? Are u her parents?
I can't respect a culture that thinks it's okay for minors to be in relationships with grown adults lmao. Do you think it's okay for 10 year olds to marry adults without parent permission? If you don't then you do not respect Sudan's culture 🤷♀️ (And before you say I'm comparing the two things, I can be against two things at once...) This is a lost cause lol. It is everyone's place to speak up things that are wrong. If people didn't, then we would be so far behind a society.
And your point about it already being broadcast... I know gahhdamn! I'm not boycotting the show, and I'm not telling you to. I'm quite simply... just saying. I can see that you are clearly trying to defend the show as a fan of Neo who you think is being dragged in the mud because of this casting. I don't blame him so you don't need to get so mad bout this, against me at least.
And lastly... yes, minors are allowed to legally act in China and there is nothing against working in romance dramas as a minor. But she is still a minor (<18). And I think her parents made a bad decision, but I can't change anything. I'm not trying to. I'm just saying.
Minor what? She willing to act, with her parent consent, and u here barking like a mad dog? Are u her parents?
I'm not insane. I'm speaking more clearly than I ever have. Can we have a normal conversation? I don't appreciate being called a mad dog for expressing my opinion. Do you know that you can support the actors and drama and storyline WHILE also acknowledging that casting a minor to play in a romance with someone 10 years older is not right... Also, legally, a minor cannot make these decisions on their own. The fact that her parents supported her choice is what's concerning. Who cares if her parents supported it. If your parents supported your decision to go jump out of a plane, is that an okay decision? Parents don't always make good decisions... If there are no inappropriate scenes, then it's not the worst thing. But I still don't know why they cast her when other great actors exist. She wasn't the only option lmao. And... I can't emphasize this enough... she JUST TURNED 18. She wasn't 18 upon filming, wasn't 18 upon signing that contract. So, any argument about her being 18 makes no sense here! I don't know anything about actors or film staff protesting this, but I'm here now. And I want to speak now. Is that wrong?
If you're that upset, then go sue her parents—they gave their consent for her to act in this drama. It's just…
I ain't doing all that lmao I'm expressing my opinion in this comment section. I don't know how her parents gave their permission to film this, money is one hell of a drug.
keep your international view points to yourself and worried about your own countrymen who do far worse than make…
Jesus lol who says I can't do both. I can stand up against my "countrymen" who do horrible things and also express my opinion in regards to this unethical casting choice. Do you really condone relationships between below underage and over? also when was this show filmed! When she was a minor!!!! And I'm not saying you can't watch it jesus how are people so defensive over a show that just aired...
Minor what? She willing to act, with her parent consent, and u here barking like a mad dog? Are u her parents?
😐😐 good god... some of you are insane! her parents letting her act is ridiculous. Anything for money I guess. I'm not her parent, but an adult who understands when things are unethical.
Age gap is not always a problem.... I've seen shows with age gaps of 20+ years. The problem is that she is a minor and he is waaaayyyy past 18. People are saying it shouldn't be a problem because the actors signed up for this... Ai Mi isn't grown enough to make this decision! I don't know who did, but I'mma need to have a word with them! It will still be weird even if they don't kiss or having any intimate scenes because she is underage. Children should not be in relationships with older adults. Like he isn't even 21... he's 28! Doesn't matter if this is acting. Don't go justifying it because people have acted with these age gaps in the past. It wasn't okay then, it isn't okay now. You can like the show but it does not justify this casting.
I am interested though in what they will do and the plot sounds intriguing. I will eventually tune in unless I'm hearing things are starting to get weird. From clips, it already looks ridiculous because of how young Aimi looks.
Edit: Jesus some of you are crazy! 18 is the legal age in China but she filmed this when...? So why they are okay with this, I don't know... just because people who are speaking up about the age are likely western, doesn't mean our values are wrong and can't be applied in other countries!??! Why are people so defensive over a show that just aired. You guys would do anything for entertainment lmao. Some people are truly blind. AND I never said you can't watch it?!
This girl is genuinely the stupidest person I've ever seen in any form of entertainment. Even Spongebob looks like a genius next to her. I can't lie though.... I'm enjoying this. It's so horrible, so tacky, the lines are cringe, its laughable how bad this is. I feel embarrassed to put this on my watch list! But I'm having a good time watching! I just stopped taking it seriously after the first episode. In the first episode I'm thinking... how on earth is she top of her class when she can't comprehend anything lmao.
Yes, she her comprehension is nonexistence and this male lead is the most cringe mafia boss I've ever seen, but I guess that's what makes it charming. I appreciate though, that despite all these misunderstandings being created by her, that would potentially derail the whole plot in another show, THIS show just lets it go. It know it's ridiculous too.
I just completed episode 4 and I wanted to get on here and talk about my initial impression of Dongman. I said that he was extremely unlikable, and I'm sure that others also felt the same. He does not understand social cues, talks faaar too much, and just felt like an overall hater. But as of episode 3, we learn that he acted this way around people who didn't like him. And you know what, valid! I guess I just underestimated the show, assuming that his character did not know how hated he was by his friend group.
But what stuck with me was his hate for the silence. All of a sudden, this show got waaay too personal lmao. If he doesn't speak, his anxiety starts to creep in. I hate that I didn't realize that about his character, not just because I underestimated the depth of the show, but because I'm the exact same. Ever since I was young, I would love to lead in conversations, and not because I wanted to be the center of attention, but because I was afraid nobody else would. I didn't want to be left with that awkward silence teenagers are all too familiar with.
But what makes me sad, is that I'm not like that anymore. I eventually discovered social cues, and realize some people are more comfortable with that awkward silence than me talking. So I stopped talking. But sadly, just like Dongman, those depressing thoughts creep in. So hearing Dong man say that made me feel inferior to him. This annoying ass guy is better off than me. In reality, he's a really cool guy, kinda inspirational. Maybe I should just keep talking, force people to hear the sound of my voice. Let them suffer, instead of me.
I guess I just wanted to share this because I don't usually watch shows like this. Give me romance, give me comedy, hell, you can give me Chinese vertical dramas, but this... I'm gonna have to get back to you. I'm really enjoying the show now, but I hope it doesn't read into me again LOL. If it does, you'll know comment section.
Can someone spoil me, I'm curious whether this character will remain in a wheelchair for the whole show? Will he regain movement in his legs? I don't care either way, just curious. Please use spoiler tag. Thank you!
