I've been seeing a lot of propaganda for this show after pursuit of jade lmao. It didn't click for me after the first episode so I just dropped it but the propaganda is slowly doing its job. Should I watch? In clips I've seen it seems rather tame despite the serious plot description. I like high stakes, drama, action, devious schemes hah. Is this show that or more mellow?

A question! Is the female lead likeable, based on the description, it sounds like I'll just be feeling bad for the male lead. It sounds a little messed up, pretending to be someone's dead wife. I heard this show has a good blend of seriousness and comedy, so I hope it's placed it in the right areas. Not laughing at someone's heartbreak. I love me a good female character, I hope I can root for her.

Finally finished. It was as fun as I remembered, still surprised by their chemistry despite the young actors/role they played. But holyyyy the communication nightmare we were in for the last 7-ish episodes, I struggled to get through. Like, we get a misunderstanding, and it just spiraled from there. They would not clearly state their problem, and sometimes when they did, or were even straight(ish) with their feelings, the other person acts like they did not hear it. That was hard to get through because it totally sucked the life out of our female lead.

I felt so bad, because despite her never communicating properly, and making bad decisions, she genuinely was suffering. She may have gone into the palace on her own accord but she was a young girl who felt no other choice in order to help her family. This palace did nothing to help her or even understand her. Genuinely, what was the king even there for. They did absolutely nothing for their kids or even the people. Useless character. So many ways to resolve their solutions, to take the pressure of the kids, and they did nothing. Poor Chae Gyeong.

The ending was strange and was written poorly, everything was just resolved and you couldn't see it how it really happen. I don't know if I can say I "felt the weight" of the problems because it was just "aww man this sucks, what do we do." But I still enjoyed this rewatch, at least the beginning was fun.

Man, this guy really Charles fighting to be with Camilla when Diana is RIGHT there! What I don't get is how wishy-washy…
Crazy, two episodes later and this is already the theme, she's accepted her role as Camilla and is proud of it lmao. Also... man, I like Chae Gyeong more than I thought, all of her quirks that could be problematic aren't made out to be, so you can just laugh at them. However, I just wish she didn't forgive Shin so easily. Like, he gets away with everything. He doesn't apologize, he just like hugs her and she's over it, OR it is completely ignored! Slightly frustrating (*>﹏<*)′

Man, this guy really Charles fighting to be with Camilla when Diana is RIGHT there! What I don't get is how wishy-washy he is. Sometimes he likes her, sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes he's nice, sometimes not. Is that just poor writing, him acting like this without reason, or is it meant to represent him being that rebellious teen, someone whose unsure of what he's supposed to do.

I'm also in episode 5, and we get the first hint of her really liking him, but I don't really see why. Nothing has really happened where he has done something for her, or said something and she was like wow.... It happens after she wasn't able to see her parents. It feels a bit weird, like she goes from crying to then saying how she feels bad she's in the middle of him and Hyo-rin. Felt like it came outta nowhere.

Wait he's a slave? Does he become something else later or is he not actually a slave but undercover? Just based on the poster and some clips I saw... anyone?

Nothing memorable in terms of storytelling and acting. A typical bland office girl without a backbone not acting…
Exactly how I feel. It had potential but nothing had any depth. If they dived into things deeper, like his yakuza background, or her problems with her mom, I would've cared more.

Ratings are not based on (future) star power........ viewers must not've enjoyed the story
Oh yeah, I'm just surprised they managed to get all these big names in a poor script seemingly. Also, didn't know they weren't as well known in 2019.

You will find many similar Dramas like poj 'such as: Wonderland of love, a journey to love, legend of female general.…
So... Yes. She doesn't deserve to be a general. That was kind of the point. She killed the big bad, so obviously she deserves some reward for it, but general is a lot. That role requires responsibility. She became a general, as least in the show, because of he people in power. They want to manipulate her, as someone who is seemingly tied to no faction. You have Xie zheng who is for the Wei, and Li Huai'an who is for the Li. That's why officials in that knighting ceremony or whatever, were hesitant to give her a higher role, cause despite her success on the battle field, she was also a woman. They would never give that role to a woman. Wei Yan convinced the king to give her a role so he could have control over here. And honestly, I think people were made generals too easily back in other shows. Consider how incompetent they are, you think she really can't be?

Yes, I'm excited to see her and Zhang Kang Le! Yeah, her being young isn't just a problem for romance but in general. Hopefully she was supported by the cast and crew. This industry is not kind.

They cast the actress because she played the child Chu Qiao in Princess Agents.
I seeeee that's pretty cool. Shame they couldn't wait like a year or two to make it lol but I respect the dedication

Why did dramas cast these young actresses in their shows, genuinely asking. This drama, and the one with HMH... I think her name is Aimi? Are these girls like nepo babies or something? But that I don't know because I think they were both child actresses and seem to have been in a lot of shows, worked their way to lead roles. But why were they casted here? Does the director have a vision? A fetish... I honestly don't mind if there are no kiss scenes or sexual tension, but chemistry shouldn't lack (even if romance isn't the forefront of the show). No point in romance if no good chemistry, no?

Anyone feel like in episode 38, the scene with Chang Yu and the stronghold girl was a little off. It feels like they've met before. I thought I'd get an epic scene of her finally coming face to face with the person who killed her brother, but no, it was a casual sit down. There should have been a scene where Ningning at least talks about who took care of her, or this girl coming to the realization that Changyu isn't to blame. Slightly disappointing, but the scene still did what it needed to, gave her closure.

Anyone knows I absolutely love this show and our leads. I don't understand people's problem with Changyu, they seem to be finding problems considering how good of a character she is. But that's some whole other conversation. My problem is the last 6-7 chapters 🤚✋... this isn't a super plot heavy story, similar to prisoner of beauty, where we just cruise through the episodes. But this show all of a sudden became about the plot.

In many Chinese shows, the action keeps going up until the last second! The plot twists happen in the last 2 or 3 episodes. I don't mind that! The issue is I wish there was foreshadowing about characters. They did show us time to time Wei Yan and Grand Tutor Li bickering, but nothing substantial. Or I can't remember because it was so long ago. I might have to rewatch (I'm not complaining 😏😏 lol). We could've had some mention of Wei Yan and his fling, Wei Yan's relationship with Xie Zheng, or Grand Tutor Li knowing who Qimin really is. But even this I don't mind that much.

My real qualms are with Xie Zheng. I don't care about him getting less screentime or fight scenes, this is Changyu's show. What I do have a problem is his revenge. Chang yu's story revolved around her family, but his was about his revenge. I don't mind him not being hellbent on finding the truth, but I wish they at least showed him getting over it. Like him reading the letter Changyu got from General He, and realizing he chooses her, regardless of her past.

In episode 38, to me, it's starting to feel more like Chang yu's revenge. Deservedly so, but Xie Zheng's been fighting to discover the truth for over a decade now, no? I can't feel that. Like in episode 38, both the tiger talleys just plop into Changyu's arms, back to back scenes! It would've been nice if one went to Xie Zheng. I would've liked to see him realize, holyyy the truth is right in my hands!

If we had more time, I'm sure there could've been more development, so that's something about the show that disappoints me. I still love this show, and it's probably going down as one of my favourites.

That was weird cause in the novel someone else, who wenkan's charcter was merged with, apologized for different reason, so I was surprised to see that scene. But at least she said, no you were right, we're even. It did feel like magnanimity though. They could've handled it better, but because she didn't do it again, I won't upset, just disappointed.

Qimin and Sui Yuanqing—can we talk about how insanely good those two are? Holy shit, I swear they carried the…
I can't say they carried cause the entire cast absolutely killed it, from the main to the side, to bit parts! However, they have definitely set the bar for new villains, especially Qimin. He reminds me of toxic male leads in those short dramas but with a budget... like such well written, well acted characters. There's a reason we all paid so much attention to them, a big hand goes out to these actors. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ
