Title Rebirth
Why did dramas cast these young actresses in their shows, genuinely asking. This drama, and the one with HMH... I think her name is Aimi? Are these girls like nepo babies or something? But that I don't know because I think they were both child actresses and seem to have been in a lot of shows, worked their way to lead roles. But why were they casted here? Does the director have a vision? A fetish... I honestly don't mind if there are no kiss scenes or sexual tension, but chemistry shouldn't lack (even if romance isn't the forefront of the show). No point in romance if no good chemistry, no?

Anyone feel like in episode 38, the scene with Chang Yu and the stronghold girl was a little off. It feels like they've met before. I thought I'd get an epic scene of her finally coming face to face with the person who killed her brother, but no, it was a casual sit down. There should have been a scene where Ningning at least talks about who took care of her, or this girl coming to the realization that Changyu isn't to blame. Slightly disappointing, but the scene still did what it needed to, gave her closure.

Anyone knows I absolutely love this show and our leads. I don't understand people's problem with Changyu, they seem to be finding problems considering how good of a character she is. But that's some whole other conversation. My problem is the last 6-7 chapters 🤚✋... this isn't a super plot heavy story, similar to prisoner of beauty, where we just cruise through the episodes. But this show all of a sudden became about the plot.

In many Chinese shows, the action keeps going up until the last second! The plot twists happen in the last 2 or 3 episodes. I don't mind that! The issue is I wish there was foreshadowing about characters. They did show us time to time Wei Yan and Grand Tutor Li bickering, but nothing substantial. Or I can't remember because it was so long ago. I might have to rewatch (I'm not complaining 😏😏 lol). We could've had some mention of Wei Yan and his fling, Wei Yan's relationship with Xie Zheng, or Grand Tutor Li knowing who Qimin really is. But even this I don't mind that much.

My real qualms are with Xie Zheng. I don't care about him getting less screentime or fight scenes, this is Changyu's show. What I do have a problem is his revenge. Chang yu's story revolved around her family, but his was about his revenge. I don't mind him not being hellbent on finding the truth, but I wish they at least showed him getting over it. Like him reading the letter Changyu got from General He, and realizing he chooses her, regardless of her past.

In episode 38, to me, it's starting to feel more like Chang yu's revenge. Deservedly so, but Xie Zheng's been fighting to discover the truth for over a decade now, no? I can't feel that. Like in episode 38, both the tiger talleys just plop into Changyu's arms, back to back scenes! It would've been nice if one went to Xie Zheng. I would've liked to see him realize, holyyy the truth is right in my hands!

If we had more time, I'm sure there could've been more development, so that's something about the show that disappoints me. I still love this show, and it's probably going down as one of my favourites.

Well she did get a hearing from wenkan and apologized to him after. If only there was a scene later on where she…
That was weird cause in the novel someone else, who wenkan's charcter was merged with, apologized for different reason, so I was surprised to see that scene. But at least she said, no you were right, we're even. It did feel like magnanimity though. They could've handled it better, but because she didn't do it again, I won't upset, just disappointed.

Qimin and Sui Yuanqing—can we talk about how insanely good those two are? Holy shit, I swear they carried the…
I can't say they carried cause the entire cast absolutely killed it, from the main to the side, to bit parts! However, they have definitely set the bar for new villains, especially Qimin. He reminds me of toxic male leads in those short dramas but with a budget... like such well written, well acted characters. There's a reason we all paid so much attention to them, a big hand goes out to these actors. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

Omg amazing I love!! I don’t watch cdramas at all but this opened up a door for me. If anyone can recommend…
I loved this drama, it's very special among cdramas because it has more of a focus on characters rather than plot (except in the last 10 or so episodes). One that I felt was similar but both male and female were more evenly focused was Prisoner Of Beauty. Changyu is strong physically, but FL in Prisoner of Beauty is very smart. I highly recommend this one.

Also she was trained by a notoriously, skilled general her entire life.
They old and rusty lol besides that, you're not wrong definitely! In reality, they shouldn't have been beat so easily, but this is a drama. In other dramas with male leads, they destroy generals so easily despite also usually being half they age, but nobody questions them. To play devils advocate, in those dramas, the male lead usually was in the battle field since 10 or were a general for a couple years, blah blah, they have background that is more "reasonable" than this FL. But that's where we can attribute it to her talent and training. I just think we shouldn't have to question her abilities so hard. She's gifted as you said, that's how I think of it.

Episode 37: It's so funny to me when I see comments that the ML has been "sidelined" or "isn't shown…
They find it hard to believe a female character can do what a male character "should." Some complaints are reasonable, like she doesn't have battle experience, but she is simply just ridiculously strong and was trained her whole life by her father, a very skilled general. Sorryyyy she didn't get a 30 second training montage to prove her skill, the battles WERE her training.

To those leaving comment section after finishing, It's been fun! I have NEVER been THIS invested in a show, where I'm in some comment section day after day. Changyu will be my ride or die character from now on. I'm on Netflix so I'm taking my time with this show, but glad we enjoyed the show together for the most part. See you in the next comment section.

No one in ANY cdrama show has died from falling off a high place... at MOST they get amnesia...
Lol, the example you share is NIF, you said it yourself, that's in it's own category. But EVERY OTHER show, yeah, invincible.

One of the most pathetic emperor who doesn't have the bearing of an emperor but more like a commoner. Not even…
I think that's the point... he is a puppet. I'm sure he wants to be emperor but he can't fight these two on his own, he isn't smart enough nor has any "real" backing.

I gotta say this is the first time I've seen criticism over the FL being too strong. Very different from the typical…
People are always harsher on women, which is what surprised me so much, because I thought FL could potentially be an exception. Chang yu is such a great character! Some say she's a Mary Sue, then in the same breathe complain she's a bad general... make it make sense. Nobody bats an eye when the male lead kicks ass... Nobody bats an eye when he makes poor decisions that gets people killed... Didn't Xie Zheng let 200 of his own men to die to the flood in order to save Changning (ofc bigger cause but still)? FL loses Mandi and results in General Wei hurting his arm and damn she's worse than a foot soldier.

Yes, she made bad decisions but she isn't perfect.. She doesn't have battle experience, she is bound to make mistakes! So do you want a Mary Sue or not?! She also didn't ask to become a general, that was forced upon her by people in power as they hope to control her! Someone who is neither Wei nor Li. But she does deserve her accolades, she killed the big bad no? Don't question her ability to kick-ass, cause we've seen that from the first episode, she isn't the commoner people make her out to be.
