Appearances can be deceiving - I still think there is a better than 50% chance that Yeom is actually on grandmother's side. But I believe that partly because of early articles that stated he was working with Madame Seo and it's possible writers have re-written the plot. Or, the articles were wrong. The "facts" regarding the Daegwallyeong Pass accident have definitely changed.

Hyo Jun continues to be selfish, but i'm glad it is Mi-rim that is shaking him up and not Hyo Shim's absence (although that was the catalyst). Some real mini heart flutters today and deep down Mi-rim missed him for personal reasons. (and yes, I know the preview is misleading).

Not only Uee, but Hajun also won as best actor and Uee and Hajun together the best couple award 😁 (very justifiably…
Well, not quite. my post was confusing. Uee was "Top Excellence" Actress - that is, best of all actresses, regardless of genre (daytime, serial, mini-series, etc.)

Ha Jun shared the "Excellence Actor in a Serial/long form Drama" with Ji Seung-hyun (Korea-Khitan War).]

Not sure about the "best couple" award - looks like five different couples (including the King and his military advisor in "Korea-Khitan War") were all "winners".

Actually, I find these individual network awards to be rather nonsenical, but they are big for ratings. Viki will have these awards w/subs in a couple of days.πŸ˜€

Happy New Year to you as well. βœ¨πŸŽ‰πŸŽ†

I'm rewatching the raw video of the Hyo jun/ mi-rim scenes again. They both have great comedic timing. Looking forward to re-watch again with the subs.

2nd brother is starting to develop better each time, hoping we see more development with him and his inspiring…
We got more insight today (ep 28) as to Hyo juns back story and why the She-Witch mother guilted him into following HER dreams - of course using Hyo Shim to do it. Shes psycho. I hope both moms end up locked up in the villa at the end -- they can cry together about all they did "for the children".

unrelated but since you are the unofficial lore master here keeping track everything... did they ever mention…
UN-official?? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

The writing team is a bit sloppy about dates, but I take notes whenever something specific is mentioned.

I think HS is 34 years old. Hyo Shim was 9 years old/4th grade when Dad disappeared. He disappeared 25 years ago. Based on the clothes that they were wearing at Dad's birthday party, hyo jun was in junior high and hyo Seong was in high school. There have been other unspecific references - hyo Shim couldn't do certain things in school because of whatever was going on with her older brothers which also may or not mean anything other than a general timeline.

However, at Dad's birthday party, Hyo Do was clearly a toddler sitting in mom's lap - and yet in one episode, someone said he was 32 years old. Definite glitch - maybe the sub was incorrect.

If Hyo Jun has been studying to be a lawyer for 10 years, (and if he was working in film after college for a few years before that), I've assumed (also because of the school uniforms) that he is 36-38ish.

Re: Tae Ho. Uh, I don't pay too much attention when he babbles on about his pity-party life, I'm afraid. 🀣🀣 HOWEVER, my notes say the following: (1) Tae Ho is a few years younger than his father was when he became Vice Chairman; (2) his father became Vice Chairman before he was 40. So, i've figured that TH was 36ish. i know he was sent to the US when he was in 5th grade (correct?) - but if they ever mentioned how many years ago that was, I wasn't watching that scene.

Hyoshim's apartment is really cute now where it is fully furnished and decorated, ngl. No boyfriends allowed in…
Hmmmm, you got most of it correct but not all.

'Hajun's shift from puppy with HS to slightly threatening son of his dead parents "

"Slightly threatening" is an understatement. I swear, if I didn't know better, I would diagnose Kang Tae Ho as bi-polar, but the reason I began this show is because Ha Jun is so good at switching between two personas. He's a man-child, flailing around, careless about consequences.

Best part of watching the raw version before the subs is the "physical' scenes - that's when a good director really shines. The scene with Hyo Do and Hyo Seong (and then Mom) was well-choreographed and hilarious.

As previously mentioned, the Korean trot singer Young Tak will have a special appearance in Episode 28 (Saturday, Dec. 30). I have no idea who he is except that he is also the artist for the 2nd OST "Go Your Own Way". he is in a scene with Hyo Shim and Tae Ho.

In addition, at the KBS 2023 Drama Award show (which airs right after LYOL on Sunday, Dec. 31) he will perform WITH Kim Yu-ha, who portrays the young child singer Park Ga On. The award show will air live on Kocowa+ but it's still too early my time to try to watch.

I have no interest in either one except that Park Ga On has a birth secret (unknown mother) and it is surely connected to one of the main characters, probably Kang Tae Min, which reminds me I need to post my wild/crazy theory about them in the discussion forum.

Fairly significant drop in the ratings (Nielsen Korea). After slowly, sluggishly, baby step rise in ratings for the last two months, the drop was unexpected but perhaps because of the holiday weekend.

Saturday, 12/23: 15.8% (last weekend: 16.7%)

Sunday, 12/24: 17.5% (last weekend: 18.8% - highest ever)

Pfffttt. . . if i wasn't so busy wrapping up presents and baking (currently? 10 minute break while cookies are in the oven) I would write a long dissertation of all the scenes that apparently you either FF through or strategically "forgot". Stay tuned. 🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣

With a painful heart I have to drop this drama. I like TM so much and seeing him suffer like this breaks my heart.…
Tae Min will get his happy ending - of that, I am positive. I don't know what it will be and Team TM will need to watch a whole bunch of cr*p before it happens. My guess? Around episode 44 or 45, things will start to look up for your (and my) man.

Fortunately, for me, I have Team Hyo-jun/Mi-rim (someone needs to come up for a good name for them) to enjoy.

Plus, I enjoy the slow un-raveling of the various conspiracies/mysteries involving the Kang family. Writer-nim is definitely throwing out the red herrings at this point.

I don't agree that "he was never like that with Tae Min until. . . .".

From the very first episode, he was jealous and resentful of TM because of what happened when they were growing up. TH told TM they (TM/TH) "had no relationship" back in episode 10 (?) or so after the incident with the car. He blamed TM for their grandmother's death - although TM was completely blameless.

So, perhaps we are not watching the same drama.

But my original point is that Ha Jun plays this public/private contrast very well. I first saw it in "Crazy Love".

He was calculating when he went into TM's office - he was there to rub that contract in TM's face.

The contrast between TH's very public puppy-dog persona and his cold/hateful private conduct is one of the reasons they hired Ha Jun because - namely, he Is. So. Good. At. That. Type. of. Role.

If i am able, I watch the "raw" (un-sub version) on Kokowa (about 6 hours after release in Korea) and then usually subs are available a couple of hours later.

i also sometimes watch on Viki, but the subs are usually 18 hours after initial release in Korea.

Both are subscriptions.

It is late at night and i just finished Ep 26 with subs and preview. And i am fuming because what the hell Tae ho who do you think you are to question Tae-mins marriage or his feelings?? it's none of your effin' business😑😑😑

However Ha Jun was at his best today, switching between ultra charmer and calculating pr**k which is why i enjoy watching him.

Hyo Jun and Mi Rim made up for everything else😊😊

probably in episode 49 or so 🀣 Especially if HS is now moving out then Taeho has no reason to go to the villa…
And here I was going to guess Episode 44 or so. 🀣

They go shopping, you say πŸ‘€ Haha, nice. Lets see what/how the special appearance will be then πŸ˜†
My Windows program (#11?? not sure) also translates everything if I set it automatically. I also use Bing translator for short items (such as kbs previews).

Agree with you re my favorite couple - those dingy dorm rooms are not conducive to any sort of romance, but after HJ takes the bar exam in early January, this will hopefully change.

it took me a long time to figure out how to search Korean web/news sites.

According to everything i have read, the KBS "Entertainment" awards are on Dec. 23rd and the KBS "Drama" awards are on December 31st, both at 21.25 (9:25) KST. Therefore both directly after LYOL (I think??).
