Before i add this to my watch list... Is it like queen of tears... Rated highly but the plot is lacking??
Well, I loved Queen of Tears and I don't understand your comment about "the plot is lacking." Queen of Tears was a roller-coaster of twists and turns and upside-down crazy. I lost count of the times the viewer would think "I didn't see THAT coming."
My Royal Nemesis is linear - minor twists and turns, but nothing truly shocking or "I didn't see THAT coming". Very funny (thru ep. 8), very entertaining and the casting director earned their pay.
I was looking through different reactions on Korean forums again, and I found this comment that got a lot of likes,…
"weāre taught not to include objects that pass by meaninglessly for no reason."
The Chekov's Gun principle. If a gun shows up in Act 1, it better reappear later on. Could be a murder weapon; could be used in defensive mode but it better be important to the plot.
I haven't watched Mr. Queen because I don't like the actress but the more I hear folks were upset with the ending, I'm glad I never gave in. (There are others who believe it to be a masterpiece). The question I've always had and never tried to find the answer is: what happened to the chef's "body" in the modern era. Did he switch souls with the Queen? Was the body on life-support and missing it's soul? Because he did to return to the modern era, correct?
I've said much the same thing elsewhere. There's one small difference, though.I don't think it will be living…
Actually, for a Joseon maiden, Dan-shim was extremely feisty and courageous - tried to run away from slavery; stood up to her tormenters, tried to protect the little dog. But once caught in Joseon Mondo's web, her life was on the line. She learned to survive with "her wits and beauty". I think perhaps young Seo-ri was the same until the accident that nearly killed her - that's when she faded from the public eye. I still hold out hope we might see a bit young Seo-ri before the end.
Binged all 10 episodes over the weekend. I really love their dynamic. It's refreshing to see how they still treat…
Some of this is correct (or at least likely/probable) - join the club of those who have believed it's a reincarnation story from the beginning. Dan-shim reincarnated in Seo-ri at birth. Any memories are buried deep in subconscious (same for Se-gye), but her personality (feisty, dramatic) is similar; bad car accident that almost killed her and destroyed her acting career; faints or collapses during filming and Dan-shim sub-conscious memories (from HER moment of death) take over. It was almost a survival move for Seo-ri who had been ill and was working with a high fever.
But the scene in Ep. 11 preview is [my guess] her coma dream in the hospital. As you said, previews are frequently (always??) mis-leading. There is nothing in this drama that has foreshadowed "time travel" back and forth. And everything has foreshadowed that Dan-shim and the Grand Prince had a tragic life 300 years ago and thanks to the red comet, their reincarnated souls are finally reconnecting.
I was gone all day and wasn't able to watch my dramas until tonight. Choice was between Ep. 10 of My Royal Nemesis and Ep. 3 of Reborn Rookie. Glad I chose RR - what a fun ride it is.
Hi guys so Iāve just finished ep 10 and here are my views on the preview. Shin seo ri and Kang da sim are the…
The Joseon characters (Kang Dan-shim and the King) are based on real people - in fact, notorious real people whose lives have been the subject of countless kdramas/movies. I would be surprised if they are going to upend Joseon history (and it would be a major upheaval) to support some sort of fictional time travel mumbo-jumbo.
Grandpa is a loveable curmudgeon - they aren't going to kill him off. I think that was the shaman in the past???…
lol, but I admit that I see what fits with the perspective/theory that I've had from the very beginning. Namely, reincarnation for both Dam-shim and the Grand Prince. But for those viewers who think that Dam-shim has been time traveling back and forth - perhaps swapping with seo-ri,'s soul your theory makes sense. We'll find out in a week. š
Okay guys, I think we can all agree that this episode was absolutely amazing. I was dying! I literally replayed…
Also today: "Find your path to survive. This is my final command to you."
All was foreshadowed in Episode 1 with the "unexpected rain shower". TV announcer:
Message: from the heart that was never conveyed. Story: something, something fox, lion True meaning: a blessing from a loved one wishing you happiness in your new life even when they cry.
episode 9 pre-release: cha segye sees shin seori's new script šhttps://x.com/SBSNOW/status/2062700940386595007https://www.tiktok.com/@sbsnow_official/video/7647421225643281685https://www.instagram.com/p/DZL1yRhABnI/
Thanks for posting. I love the way they keep the laughs/humor going w/out overkilling the brutal Joseon scenes (one reason I have dropped so many sageuks in the past).
How has it done in streaming numbers? I think signing up Park Eun Bin to anything that might require a season…
Someone posted here (a couple of weeks ago?) that in an interview, PEB said she would like to do Season 2 but it would depend upon the ratings. Which are gangbusters on Netflix.
Of course, would have to wait for Cha Eun Woo's release from serving his country (military) which is next year.
I saw the tweet mentioning this. But how do we know when Grand Prince died? When was that told? Also this kind…
I re-watched the "compatibility" scene in Ep. 8. One birthday was April 4, 1996 (presumably Se-gye) and the other was October 5, 1996. So, yes - 6 month gap in the modern era. Not sure where folks get the same timeline for the Joseon ML and FL or why the writer would even bother to note that. It may be important later in terms of when the King felt he could get rid of Kang Huibin??? The Grand Prince's knowledge was some sort of protection for her?? Seems lame.
Apparently, some viewers here don't think that if we come across a poster with signals that does point to romance,…
Yes, that poster. And also other promo magazine photos with just the 2 of them. I hope director isn't planning to push the envelope w/potential "ick" factor and then say - ģ¼ (hey!), we TOLD you there was no romance.
Found this on Reddit: "The director replied that their chemistry would be like how women fall for men who resemble their fathers, so the daughter's heart will flutter for him in that same token. Just as how parents see their child as a baby no matter how they've grown, this is how the reborn father's love for his daughter will be portrayed in the drama."
"How women fall for men who resemble their fathers. . . . " Okay, that's ICK on steroids.

JMHO of course. š

Well, that's the drama I've been watching, lol.
Plus, I think it's a dream. We'll see.
I think that was the shaman in the past??? - dressed as a court lady. It wouldn't be the first time that a preview included dreams.
