Oh my gosh, that pre-release?? I used my VPN to watch (and it had AI generated English subs) and it was hilarious. If it becomes available globally, I'll edit. If you have VPN, Link: https://tv.naver.com/v/101032403

Grandkids talked back to Step-grandma (the love of Yong-ho's life) and in current body, Gramps let's loose on them. If I understood the AI subs, grandpa explains that "The body is lying down but the soul is here next to you") and he pretends to talk to "someone" behind the boys. Gramps reminds the boys of certain events ("You took the gold turtle from grandfather's study?).

Honestly (but I could be wrong), I think this will eventually be a story about family. The physician SIL is obviously not comfortable with outright "killing" grandpapa. Daughter in law seems to simply want a nice, very wealthy life but her father wants. . . . ? The grandsons are going to be a very entertaining element.

On My ID Is Gangnam Beauty 15 hours ago
After WONDERfools, I'm making my way through some of Cha Eun-woo's old dramas and I gotta say. . . this one is a slog. Back when 16 episodes was the standard and there is really no plot other than a girl with major insecurity issues because she had radical plastic surgery. I'm at Ep. 6 and beginning to FF thru a lot simply because the FL is having the same inner dialogue 5 times in each episode. And Eun-woo is stone-aced throughout - yes, there's a reason (bad family life) but tiresome.

I dunno - maybe I'll re-watch Wonderfools - great acting by all of the cast, a solid plot and funny as heck.

Believe it or not, I didn't know who he was until I watched this drama. I thought he was great - mysterious, moody,…
Haven't tried Rookie Historian yet - me and historical/Joseon have a love/hate relationship. And that one is over 20 hours! Which means lots of filler.

I finished Island (all 12 eps) and enjoyed his character (priest) and the fight scenes. But the plot was all over the place - glad I can check that box and forget about it.

I'm slogging through Gangnam Beauty - don't know if I can finish that one.😒

Looking at how cha eunwoo other drama going viral on social media after watching The WONDERfools. And so many…
Add me to the list. I had no idea who he was until I tuned into WONDERfools with no expectations except that I've enjoyed the FL in the past. Cha Wun Woo was fantastic - and I say again as someone who has never seen or watched him in anything prior. So, now taking a look at some of his prior work.

Cha Eunwoo surprised me. He's actually good in this.
Believe it or not, I didn't know who he was until I watched this drama. I thought he was great - mysterious, moody, perfect straight man to the wacky threesome. Then I discovered he's some sort of mega-mega star in Korea and worldwide.

So, I began watching his other dramas. Some I finished, some I did not - he was fine, but the plots were nothing special, True Beauty was probably my favorite of the rom-coms. Trying to finish Island because his happy-go-lucky priest with special exorcist talents is entertaining, but that FL. . .?? Using the FF button alot.

I finished. First 9 episodes were actually quite charming, intriguing, interesting and I was willing to give it 9/10. After that - unless you enjoy myth making regarding mountain gods and nine-tailed foxes, you can FF thru most and focus on our leads. Who, once again, were charming. In the end 7⭐.

Been on my watchlist ever since first announced. Ji Sung once mentioned that he had (if I recall correctly) less than 2 weeks break between the final filming of Judge Returns and the start of The Apartment.

Thanks for explaining this. As someone who has re-watched the intro many times, I knew there were subtle changes,…
Hmmm, I thought the paintbrushes represented Dan-shim (who also learned to paint during her time becoming a consort/concubine.) The silver knife is a given - I didn't know what that symbol was until it showed up in a later episode.

Every scene in the intro tells a "story" (there's even a brief glimpse of Se-gye in a suit, covering his eyes and Dan-shim (Joseon or modern?) with hands on her cheeks.)

Thanks for your information. BTW, is there a way of typing Hangul on MDL? The handful of times I have done it, I have to cut and paste.

Theories from knetz: https://x.com/shiyuelatte/status/2064123299068776572I'm quoting the caption from the post:…
Thanks for explaining this. As someone who has re-watched the intro many times, I knew there were subtle changes, but didn't realize when they happened.

Now I wish someone would interpret the medallion motif near the end of the intro - it shows paintbrushes, the silver knife and. . .I believe a fox. If it simply kdrama tradition for Joseon centric dramas or something else.

If nothing else, I think that silver knife is going to show up in the modern era -

Re: the white truck of doom.

If the plot requires that Seo-ri end up badly injured so that her memories (as Seo-ri) re-awaken or for the writer to show more Joseon memories while she's in a coma or. . . . God forbid, they pull a time travel stunt on us. . . .

I, for one would have been disappointed if it was NOT a white truck that caused the accident. From the very first moments, this drama has been poking fun at - and paying homage to - various kdrama tropes, old kdrama scenes, and many "inside" jokes. I'm still waiting for the Subway sandwich scene. 😊😊

Before i add this to my watch list... Is it like queen of tears... Rated highly but the plot is lacking??
Well, I loved Queen of Tears and I don't understand your comment about "the plot is lacking." Queen of Tears was a roller-coaster of twists and turns and upside-down crazy. I lost count of the times the viewer would think "I didn't see THAT coming."

My Royal Nemesis is linear - minor twists and turns, but nothing truly shocking or "I didn't see THAT coming". Very funny (thru ep. 8), very entertaining and the casting director earned their pay.

JMHO of course. 😊

I was looking through different reactions on Korean forums again, and I found this comment that got a lot of likes,…
"we’re taught not to include objects that pass by meaninglessly for no reason."

The Chekov's Gun principle. If a gun shows up in Act 1, it better reappear later on. Could be a murder weapon; could be used in defensive mode but it better be important to the plot.

Koreans are famous for their make-up techniques and the ability to easily add or subtract 20-25 years from an actor's age.

Anything but Mr. Queen ending, pls.
I haven't watched Mr. Queen because I don't like the actress but the more I hear folks were upset with the ending, I'm glad I never gave in. (There are others who believe it to be a masterpiece). The question I've always had and never tried to find the answer is: what happened to the chef's "body" in the modern era. Did he switch souls with the Queen? Was the body on life-support and missing it's soul? Because he did to return to the modern era, correct?

I've said much the same thing elsewhere. There's one small difference, though.I don't think it will be living…
Actually, for a Joseon maiden, Dan-shim was extremely feisty and courageous - tried to run away from slavery; stood up to her tormenters, tried to protect the little dog. But once caught in Joseon Mondo's web, her life was on the line. She learned to survive with "her wits and beauty". I think perhaps young Seo-ri was the same until the accident that nearly killed her - that's when she faded from the public eye. I still hold out hope we might see a bit young Seo-ri before the end.

Title My Royal Nemesis Spoiler
Binged all 10 episodes over the weekend. I really love their dynamic. It's refreshing to see how they still treat…
Some of this is correct (or at least likely/probable) - join the club of those who have believed it's a reincarnation story from the beginning. Dan-shim reincarnated in Seo-ri at birth. Any memories are buried deep in subconscious (same for Se-gye), but her personality (feisty, dramatic) is similar; bad car accident that almost killed her and destroyed her acting career; faints or collapses during filming and Dan-shim sub-conscious memories (from HER moment of death) take over. It was almost a survival move for Seo-ri who had been ill and was working with a high fever.

But the scene in Ep. 11 preview is [my guess] her coma dream in the hospital. As you said, previews are frequently (always??) mis-leading. There is nothing in this drama that has foreshadowed "time travel" back and forth. And everything has foreshadowed that Dan-shim and the Grand Prince had a tragic life 300 years ago and thanks to the red comet, their reincarnated souls are finally reconnecting.

Well, that's the drama I've been watching, lol.

Hi guys so I’ve just finished ep 10 and here are my views on the preview. Shin seo ri and Kang da sim are the…
The Joseon characters (Kang Dan-shim and the King) are based on real people - in fact, notorious real people whose lives have been the subject of countless kdramas/movies. I would be surprised if they are going to upend Joseon history (and it would be a major upheaval) to support some sort of fictional time travel mumbo-jumbo.

Plus, I think it's a dream. We'll see.
