Yes!!! She's skinny but not stick skinny, I love that they are romanticizing a healthy body over starving oneself.…
LYOL actually posted it's 2nd highest domestic rating this past weekend on both Saturday and Sunday. Everyone may have hated that kiss at the end of Ep. 18, but they returned for Ep. 19 to see how Hyo-shim would react.
Good question. I've looked at the latest teaser in super slow motion and he doesn't appear to be one of the "12" lives. On the other hand, PR/articles indicate that he IS one of the twelve.
Most of the "guest/special" appearances were announced months ago but In-soo's participation wasn't announced until a few weeks ago. Crossing my fingers - foolishly, I know - that In-soo will be the final (12th) life that survives.
I don't know where does TM mom get this notion of class. She was from a lower class and hooked the drunken man…
She understands perfectly that he could be attracted to someone "not in his class" - that's what a mistress is for, lol. But at this point, the desired marriage to Soo Kyung is all about power and protection - Soo Kyung's father can destroy TM's Mom and Dad.
Yeah as said before Taeho pursuing HS is not at all comparable to TM doing so. Because most important of all,…
Unlike you, I feel nothing for the main couple, so I DO watch some of the other scenes and am occasionally mildly surprised that the writer makes the effort to add more context or background in each episode (Ha Jun as director; Hee Joo's parents), but it's almost too little too late.
I think writer is building up to some sort of explosion at TM's 40th birthday bash and it will either be a major plot twist/reveal or a jump-the-shark moment (like TRHC Ep. 30 when what's her name ran away from what's his name [I truly don't remember their names and I'm too lazy to go look them up].
If there is one thing this drama shows well it it the differences between rich and poor without the usual romanticism…
You wouldn't see Grandmama sewing if it wasn't out of necessity. It's a big hint that she (or her family) were the original owners of the textile mill.

Hammmmm. . . . now, WHO was it that said coupledom around Episode 30ish???

Of course, that means they will still break "apart" at least once - noble idiocy or whatever. I was a fool to start another weekender, even if Ha Joon.
which one are you talking about? there are too many lol
Thanks - I eventually figured that out, but I don't recall watching any scene that indicated that Gramps also beat up TH's father. I FF thru too much, I guess.

TM was being groomed to eventually take over from Kang Joon-beom (2nd son) if he had become Chairman as was planned. I don't think she would have supported that if she thought that he didn't have Kang "blood".
She's worried (rightfully) about Tae Ho. She has a plan for saving Taesan group financially - and it doesn't involve Tae Ho.
I like Grandmama, but she has a steel spine when it comes to the health of Taesan Group. If Tae Ho doesn't leave Korea because of HS, Grandmama will NOT be happy.
I've seen a few comments bagging grandma because she stood by and watched TH and TM's fathers being physically…
I totally agree with your comment that viewers should study up re: that period of Korean history before brining 2023 ethics/mores into the analysis.
I donāt recall where I read this, but Grandmama is 80+ years old; Letās say she was born in 1940 (itās a nice round #). Thus, she was a child during the Japanese occupation and young teen during the Korean War. After the Korean War, economic development/ industrialization was emphasized by autocratic governments.
Iirc, The Taesan Group began with a textile mill. Grandmama is an expert seamstress. 2+2 = 4. Iām pretty sure that Grandmama was the force behind Taesanās rise during Koreaās great industrialization phase in the 1960ās. Furthermore, according to TMās mother, Grandmama ācontrolled the great Taesanā before she disappeared. She was greatly admired and respected by the Board of Directors and employees. You are correct about how Korean society was structured back then, but I donāt think Grandmama was sitting at home āWashing Ironing Feeding and Entertain[ing]ā. She was the brains ā and the strategic thinker - behind TaeSan Group meteoric rise. Her husband had a volatile temper and cheated on her ā nevertheless, she was friends with his concubine. We know that dear old Gramps beat Kang Jin Bun (eldest son) with a golf club but I donāt recall a similar story regarding THās dad who was clearly as autocratic as his father. If I missed that scene (and I missed plenty), I would like to watch if someone can point it out. Jin Bun says that his mother ānever liked him, but he never knew why.ā Thereās more to the 1st and 2nd gen relationships than we know at this point.
By the way, the casting for Gramps, TH father (and mother?) was announced before the drama began. At some point, we are going to see a lot of flashbacks to the time when all three died. Itās one of the few plot reveals that Iām looking forward to watching.
Subs were late today, so I've only watched the early raw version but the Hyo Jun and Mi Ram scene is the only one I'm really looking forward to re-watching. At this point, Hyo Shim's mother is Villainess #1 - she's worse than the other one.
Observations: Tae Hee is the only one trying to live her own life. Interesting that Hwang No Sik (Fitness client Grandfather) is intersecting with so many characters in Hyo Shim's life - her eldest brother, child singer Ga-on. I don't think he's there just for comic relief. There is more to Yeom Jin Soo (The Henchman) than we know.
The scenes usually appear four (4) weeks after Kwang-gi posts a photo from LYOL. Just because they took a photo together, doesnāt mean they filmed a dialogue scene together.
There was a scene where the older brother looked at a photo in his wallet, I think I saw a little girl in it.…
Do you remember when that scene may have occurred? I was on vacation for several weeks and crashed through many episodes (heavy FF) and know that I missed a lot of small moments.
" āTen Proā are exclusive adult establishments that are infamous in Korea for catering to only the richest…
I like this idea, especially since TV President is apparently w/out a wife. šš
at some point, if Namu Wiki is correct, Ga-on appears on TV and there is only ONE TV channel that matters on this drama, so possible connection to Sook Yung would be entertaining (and perhaps even heart-warming?).
Earlier chaebol generations didn't marry for love - they had a country to re-build after the Korean War and in true Confucian style (loyalty to family). marriages were based on convenience more than love. I'm pretty sure Grandmama was the original brains (perhaps even foundation) behind TaeSan Group's growth. Grandpapa appears to be one stinking f**kboi.
When all is said and done - I adored that scene between TM and Ga-on.

I've edited my original post thanks to @kalenahenden info re: TenPro. It is a high-class (top 10%) "brothel" system in Korea so not likely associated with older brother or Tae Min, for that matter. Thus, the mystery is probably more about her mother than her father. I guess I was reading too much into that truly lovely scene with TM and Ga-on - he was so sweet with her.

Thanks for the education! Since Tai Min could have just about any "elite" woman he wanted in Korea, he doesn't seem the type. However, it was 10 years ago so who knows.
Grandfather had his personal concubine (Madame Seo), so less likely.
I was so confused by the Namu Wiki notes that I reverted back to Hangul and then put the text through Bing translator. The note regarding "not related to blood" is - for some odd reason - connected to Park Woo Joo but it is clearly directed towards Grandmother Choi (on the rooftop). I'm going to edit my original post.
Perhaps Ga-on is Woo Joo's grand-daughter and perhaps Hannah Young (Yeong Han-ah?) is Woo Joo's daughter. Perhaps, lol.

She dieted down to 87 lbs??? Eight-Seven Pounds! She's 5'3 inches.
"dedication" is not a word I would use.
