WILD THEORY HERE!
I suggest that everyone re-watch the intro. Many, many times - frame by frame. It's all there, beginning with a tear.

I rushed through today's episode - was there a fire in Se-gye's dreams?

am I the only one that didn’t recognize FL even though I watched her in The Glory, her acting and character…
I first saw her in "Nice not to Meet You" and really enjoyed her performance. That's why I put this drama on my watchlist - she is incredibly versatile.

I began this drama because of the quote "love-hate" unquote relationship which has sadly been missing for the most part, but this pre-release demonstrates it perfectly. Arguing, squabbling, bickering over who will control the remote. And Mr. Son? Honestly, he should have "main role" designation because his character is so pivotal to the humor.

I'm hooked on this series! Please recommend a rom-com with a similar chaotic couple, I really need one 😭🙏🏻
Crazy Love has one of the most chaotic couples ever. Still one of my top 5 kdramas.

I think that either Ji-hyo or the "blind date" will turn out to be the Joseon Queen. At first I thought no, can't be since Dam-shin would recognize her, but actually, it's not likely that the Royal Concubine would ever be near the Queen, is it? I don't know my Joseon etiquette/protocol that well.

It's pretty simple - the cousin is evil and he wants to inherit the Chail Corporation - he wants power/money.

She eventually became a Royal Concubine - which probably means she went thru rigorous training in speaking, proper royal etiquette, etc.

Title My Royal Nemesis Spoiler
Pretty sure Mundo' s parents killed Se Gye's parents. He might be slow poisoning Grandpa too. He is so reckless…
I don't think parents killing parents is very relative to the modern era. Mon-do is a "distant" cousin and we already know that he is evil, no need to drag the parents into it.

However, in the Joseon era [future spoiler] he did kill his eldest brother (the Crown Prince) in a fire.

Is this good? Who is the most powerful and is there romance? Need good kdrama right now because previous kdramas…
I enjoyed it and binged over 2 days. , although I FF'd thru some of the tense, comic-horror moments.

ML is probably the most powerful. No real romance (as in "I love you"), but definitely a connection between the two leads. Ending implies that a Season2 is possible.

I'm more interested to see how FL was used by the SML in the past, but still ended up as his top consort. Use'm…
She was charged with several crimes, including the "attempt" to kill the prince and the Queen. After she died, the king said something like: "now that the pus is removed, no need to cut off the leg." But I've watched enough kdramas (altho not as many as you) to know that some lines are throw-away/meaningless. I do think the newscast mentioned above IS important since it was mentioned during celestial events mirroring 300 years ago. And all 3 statements - the "message", the "story" and the "meaning" refer to a man and were said when Se-gye was listening.

Possible but I don't think it's that simple. We must remember that the Crown Prince put her as a spy in his brother…
I believe the critical words (in the news broadcast) were that the "story" (i.e. myth, fable) of the sun-shower was "message from the heart that was never conveyed ." My bet - purely speculation - is that the Joseon ML never told her he loved her, thus it would be wrong if he were to feel betrayed.

Correct. The historical (real) Jang Huibin was accused of plotting against the Queen (after Jang was demoted back to Royal Concubine status and the Queen was reinstated), using witchcraft and in addition, her family was part of major political faction battling for influence. Over 1000 people (Jang's family, her courtiers and palace staff, etc) were killed in the purge.

I don't think we'll see that level in this drama because fiction and reality diverge in some critical areas.

I started this last night to fill in the week before My Royal Nemesis. Thought I would watch 1-2 episodes before going to bed. Three hours later (midnight) I was well into watching Ep. 5 before calling it quits for the night. I usually don't mind waiting a week to watch the next episodes, but in this drama I HAD to keep watching the next episode.

Which is why I stopped in the middle of Ep. 5, lol.

A tweet forced me to rewatch Dansim's death scene. And in her dying moments she saw Grand Prince (ML from 300…
Before that scene, the shaman told her "In order to live, Your Highness, you must die." My subs said she was thinking "perhaps this is. . ." [no "why"] and I thought she was thinking that either she had to die in order to live again with the Joseon ML or she had to die in order to save him.

Also, at the same time, it beings to rain, the sun disappears but also shines, and the red comet appears in the sky. The exact same facts in the modern era near the end of Ep. 1 I posted that scene above.

Just re-watched the last part of Episode 1 and there is a major clue as to what happened long ago. In the modern era, there is a major, unexpected "sun-shower" - rain while the sun is shining. Se-gye is listening to the radio newscast that relates the following:

[paraphrase] It's a message from the heart that was never conveyed [that's the significant part], A sun-shower is the tears a cloud sheds when the fox it loved married a tiger. But. . the true meaning is actually different. . .it's a blessing from a loved one wishing you happiness in your new life even when they cry.

At the same time, there are newspaper articles mentioning the "comet for the 1st time in 300 years." Dam-shin is shivering in the cold, icy shower, wondering if her current situation (neither hell nor heaven) is her punishment - but then she decides that she's alive and she decides to seek out Se-gye.

Pure speculation, but I don't think it's a given that Joseon ML and Dan-shim became lovers. But he loved her and wished her well when the Crown Prince/King took her for his Royal Concubine.

SBS is usually 12 hours before the broadcast (Friday morning KST). It's late afternoon Thursday in my time zone.

Probably the wrong term. How about sageuk misery? The drama shows snippets of life during Joseon times - they were not pleasant but no scenes of bloody violence if that's what concerns you.
