Episode 9. I agree with @tintin92 - they were the best part of the drama.

After first few episodes, I honestly thought it was going to be one of my favorites but it fell off sooner than…
Don't forget the epic pillow fight. 😊

I love Jung So Min. First time with Choi Woo Shik and like him. But today's episode - and their un[non]relationship was a very predictable script for any Ep.7 of a 12 part rom-com. Enjoyable but nothing unique for a kdrama rom-com.

OTOH, 2nd couple was equally predictable (drunk, etc) but laugh-out-loud funny. Their scenes are the ones I will be re-watching.

The best thing about Eps. 9/10 is that BAek Hye Ji was in a coma.

Scenes with the mansion staff are amusing. Attorney Lee Don is still my favorite character. I don't feel any chemistry between the two leads or second couple. So 15 minutes in each episode is entertaining. At the end of Queen of Tears, the evil step-mother (spoiler) was hauled off to prison and got royally thrashed by inmates - it was better than simply dying so hope we see the same for Ga Seon Yeong.

Who is "mc"???The only so-called "villain" is Ha Tae Su and he's an incompetent/cartoonish villain…
He's the "hero" - but he takes high, unusual risks. He battles with his brains, not violence. I loved the show - one of my all time favorites. The battle isn't over - there's talk of a Season 2.

I’m on episode 6, and by Pusan do they mean Busan??
At that time period, the "romanized" (latin alphabet) name was Pusan

Can someone tell me if mc is antihero or just straight up villain in this series?
Who is "mc"???

The only so-called "villain" is Ha Tae Su and he's an incompetent/cartoonish villain throughout.

I haven't watched this week's episodes yet, but I read the comments and I'm just going to say Attorney Lee Don was the best character from the very beginning and apparently (reading comments) he continues to be the best. Of course, the fact that Seo Yeong Woo is a very versatile actor playing against a cast of caricatures (NOT well developed characters) makes the contrast even more obvious. it's too bad because the original premise was intriguing and the Gothic Carnival vibe drew me in.

Seo Ji-hoon fan here as well - the only reason I even bothered to watch a "melodrama". I was scanning his ig page the other day and it included some photos from My Youth. One of them was in a VERY nice office, so apparently we were cheated out some scenes of his work life. actually, we were cheated out of alot - no explanation for his missing father; no explanation of why he had a sad upbringing (he looked pretty happy in the two miniscule teen scenes with young Tae-rin).

I decide to check this because I saw that screen-writer is Park Si Hyeon. Run On was one of the rarest lead pairing…
Seo-ji-hoon is definitely King of the brooding eyes and soft wistful smile, but at least in this drama, he FINALLY had a successful love story. Rumor (no official announcement) is that he has a pivotal role in All of US Are Dead 2 which I interpret to mean that he will play a new version of a Gwi-nam type villain. Why do I think that? Coz his management company is the same as Yoo In-soo (who is serving in the military). Hope I'm wrong, but. . .

i didn't understand the ending tbh. was it a dream or reality? i have a feeling it was all a dream!
It was Je-yeon's dream or imagination. Not real. From the director:

"The final scene—Je-yeon gazing at Hae's 'presence'—is meant to blur life, memory, and dream, leaving viewers to choose. Is it recovery's glow or grief's echo? We wanted that eternal 'here and now' to mirror youth's timeless pull."

Since the scene apparently took place a month before the 2 year trial was over, one can choose to believe that he is still alive in the USA and Je-yeon is simply fantasizing about his upcoming return. Or. . . he dead.

Me, I never cared one way or the other.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. I feel like the contract/pretend marriage trope has been done so many times,…
Contract/pretend dating plots are favorite stories for humans (especially women) going back to the time of Shakespeare. It never, ever gets stale but does require great writing/plot/characters/direction and talented actors to entertain.

They need to give the 2nd couple more introduction/background story. Why does he stay in that job. (answer from SBS website - he grew up in poverty/orphanage and owes his good fortune to his boss's FATHER (who is still alive in the background). So, the answer is on the web - but we haven't seen much of it on screen.

Why does she have a crush on woo-ju? because they played the piano together once? C'mon - give us more!

I'm sorry for nitpicking, but it's 1/3+ thru. Almost 1/2, because it's 12 episodes drama.
Well, I debated whether 5/12 was 1/4+ or "almost 1/2". I'm the Queen of nit-pickers, so no problem. 😊😊😊

What’s your favorite drama of 2025 so far? On K-drama side my favorite might be “Love Scout” so far.
My favorite (and now one of my top 2 ever) it "Art of Negotiation". Not a rom-com at all but. . .the plot that maintained consistency (NO WTF moments) to the end was wonderful. Very different drama but the writing/direction was superb.

Ever since I began to watch kdramas (2022) it has driven me nuts as well. The answer is - for me - to adapt. Because in the end, all will be well if the rom-com drama is properly written/directed. Meanwhile, I enjoy the lovely scenes that do happen to find their way to my screen. 😊

I've noticed it before (can't recall which one) but perhaps it is connected to whatever is going on with Disney+ (which, as of end of September) is OUT as SBS aligns with Netflix for future dramas.

The only "ratings" that really, really matter are Korean Nielsens. Disney+ [Hulu in USA} might be important but they are difficult to decipher. So, without further ado. . . . .Episode 5 were highest in Korea!!!🎉🥳

Episode 5: 7.5% (National) 7.8% (Seoul)

These are terrific for a drama that is only 1/4+ thru. Crossing fingers t🙏hat Episode 6 will be higher.

This is absolutely my 2nd favorite drama of 2025!
