I want to watch this because of Zhang Linghe and the high score, but I'm afraid this falls into certain category of that I just find really boring. Looking at the recommendation section there are many dramas that I dropped: Amidst a Snowstorm of Love, Love Me Love My Voice, The Oath of Love and Sunshine of My Life. However there are also some dramas that I liked, for example Love Is Sweet, Princess Royal, Will Love in Spring and Shine On Me. Which of these groups do you think this one fits more?
So many negative comments here so I'm going to throw in a positive one: I really liked this drama. It kept my interest all the way through. The characters are more complex and grey than in some popular dramas. I understand this might not work for example for young audience who like their FL bubbly and friendly, always doing the right thing and not knowing much about dark side of humanity. I personally enjoyed The Princess Royal and thought the characters were well written and logical. I also read some parts of the original novel and it made me understand their actions even better.
Can anyone help me understand behind su rongqing predicament like he had his second chance at making different…
It's been a while but here's how I remember & understood it: Rongqing didn't really think he was getting a fresh start, nor did see the error of his ways in the previous life. He believed he did the right thing because he felt like putting his family before everything was most important, as it was often during those days. You know how the bad guys often plot to ensure the future of their family/clan/name, one person's mistake will get the whole family killed etc. So he thought it was the right thing to kill FL, but at the same time because he (sort of) loved her he felt guilty and knew he did not deserve to be with her. That's why he rejected her knowing that he would do it again. He only saw one way: doing everything for his brother and his family.
this show is a mess... so many things could have been solved if they just open their mouth to communicate??? and…
The story is true to their characters. If you read the novel it's more obvious, why it's so hard for them to be open and honest. Both because of their traumas and how life was in the court with all the plotting, I mean what happened in the first life really just proved that most people cannot be trusted. Also she liked being in control, she grabbed the "power" as a baby for her destiny. Not everybody has to be one of those people who just want a simple and peaceful life, even if it's the most common type of ending these days. I found it refreshing that the FL was not a naive girl looking for simple life.
Thank you Pursuit of Jade! After watching more than 200 Asian dramas it's getting more and more difficult to find something I can truly enjoy from beginning to end. Are there parts that could have been better? Of course there are. But watching these 40 eps I never once felt the urge to fast forward or put this on hold. I was genuinely excited to start watching every time and enjoying every episode.
Did you end up watching this? The ratings tend to go down over the years so 8.0 is excellent rating for a drama…
I gave it 9. At that time I had not seen that many dramas so maybe I was more generous with my ratings than these days, but there's a reason I came back to this page once again :) I remember that at some point the plot got a bit draggy, concentrating too much on SML, but there were many excellent scenes with the ML that I still remember oh so clearly, even though it's been a few years. If you can appreciate a shameless ML who is villain type but not really toxic, always treating the FL right, looks good and knows how to kiss, go for it!
Some thoughts about when ML and the ex-BF meet towards the end, under spoiler tag in comments. What do you guys…
When Song Yan saw Xie Zheng and did not yet know he was the marquis, he said something like: "She did not abandon you, she took you with her to the riches. How are you better than me." And while of course I understand he had to find out Xie Zheng's real identity, I think it would have been a better lesson for him if he didn't. Because now he probably thinks FL stayed with ML because he was a marquis and good enough for her that way. But she would not have cared if he was just a normal guy. So it would have been good for Song Yan to understand that ML was not better because he was a marquis, but because he was loyal and treated her well. And for that she would have taken him with her to riches, had it been necessary.
How is the romance in this drama? I'm looking for a wuxia drama that features good chemistry between the leads.…
Did you end up watching this? The ratings tend to go down over the years so 8.0 is excellent rating for a drama from seven years ago. I thought this one was good and chemistry was good too, some excellent kissing scenes. Just some boring side plots and you should know that it's a comedy, even though it's not mentioned in the genres for some reason.
However there are also some dramas that I liked, for example Love Is Sweet, Princess Royal, Will Love in Spring and Shine On Me.
