Completely agree. The episode was essential to show how the two of them processed the knowledge of what really happened. If the story had skipped straight to them getting together it would have made a mockery of Yu Sen losing his career and life's direction. We needed to see the two of them working through the situation and get to the point where they can actually move forward unincumbered by the past.

I have to disagree with the thought that ep 23 is a mere filler. It was necessary to show the fallout of them discovering the lie that Ma Nianyuan had told and to show how the two of them dealt with the consequences.

Yu Sen had lost his life's direction as a result of the accident and had resented Xi Guang for not visiting him. He had started to wall off that resentment as they got to know each other. The fact that all of that had been predicated on a lie would have been a profound shock to anyone. He needed to time to process how he felt then and how he feels now based on the truth. Anyone would do the same.

Xi Guang was understandably angry given that she had been "blamed" for something that she had nothing to do with. How do you deal with finding out that the person you are attracted to has blamed you for an accident that changed the career and life?

You are most definitely not the only person who does not like Zhuang Xu.

One comment that Nie Cheng Yuan made during his tirade against Yu Sen caught my attention: "He is just Sheng Xianmin grandson without inheritance rights." How does he know that Yu Sen has no inheritance rights? Is it part of Chinese law that Yu Sen's uncles will inherit everything and his mother will get nothing?

If I may act as a Canadian tourism guide, I would totally recommend visiting Banff and Lake Louise in Alberta and Revelstoke in B.C., if you ever get the chance.

I am not so sure that it was "good daddy" on display there. I took it as rich man wanting to protect his money.

After watching today's episodes, I am seeing some similarities between Zhuang Xu and Nie Cheng Yuan.
-- They both listen to and believe scheming women.
-- Both are dismissive of Xi Guang.
-- Nie Cheng Yuan is clearly fearful of women with character and strong personalities, and I suspect that Zhuang Xu is just as fearful.
-- I think both would be happiest with a wife who stays at home, does the chores, and looks after the children.

The irony was especially strong when Nie Cheng Yuan called the entire Sheng family a bunch of snakes, when he appears to be doing some sort of backroom/shady deal with one of them, and he lives with two parasitic snakes.

Xi Guang said that she had been skiing before but was rusty. She started on the "bunny hills" and then on to the Green hill. She did not go to the Blue or Black levels.

Respectfully, having been skiing in the Rockies and in Vermont, I can assure you that it is not something a person becomes proficient in on their first trip. Neither skiing nor snowboarding are not pastimes where people can become so proficient that they can comfortably go on to the black runs within a few days.

You might be correct. I have no knowledge of the legal environment regarding medical consent in China. What I can say s that the Public Trustee in a government official and has no relationship with a hospital. They are an independent third-party.

I have one question that struck me while watching ep 20. There have been many posts commenting on the fact that Zhuang Xu comes from a poor family, and that has been used as the rationale for his reluctance to reciprocate Xi Guang's approach. This impoverished background is further noted because he did not have the 50,000 yuan for his mother's surgery.

Skiing/snow boarding is not a cheap sport, even in China. For this trip, everyone flew from Shanghai and the accommodation did not look basic. Given that and the above impoverished background, I am wondering how Zhuang Xu was able to afford to go snow boarding often enough to be proficient on the black runs.

Okay, I succumbed and watched ep 20, despite saying I was going wait until tomorrow. My bad.

I understand why there are so many comments about Xi Guang's reaction, and yes, it was over-the-top. However, the show had both sides of the situation running together, with the scenes switching back and forth. We knew that Yu Sen was safe, but for a long period she did not

It would have been interesting to have Xi Guang's perspective run from when she was on the slopes, through the time when she realised he was late and she could not contact him, until the point where she saw him and shouted his name. And then cut to his perspective, starting from the accident, going to the hospital, and again to when she shouted his name.

It might has helped explain her reaction better if we saw her anxiety building without know the actual situation.

I hate to disagree, but I strongly suspect that the day he discovered that his hand was so damaged that he could no longer work as a neurosurgeon would have been the worst day of his life.

It is the same here in Canada, and I suspect that it is similar situation in China. That being said, Yu Sen was asked to advise; he did not operate. After he handed the patient over, he left and told Zhuang Xu that was as far as he could go. He only hung around to see the results of the CT scan. It was only after the municipal hospital said they could not take the patient, and the haematoma was found to be too large, that they asked for his help. He showed them his medical licence and other credentials, so it is not impossible that he was put onto the hospital's staff temporarily.

I noticed one thing that cannot happen in Canada (my daughter is a surgeon and I discussed this very situation with her earlier in the year). As there was no family/guardian present, the lead surgeon mentioned getting Medical Affairs to sign off on the operation. In Canada, a government official, called a Public Trustee, is required. No one within the hospital set-up can give approval.

To be honest, I find things easier when using the 24 h clock and the international date format. :-) In this case, the next episode is supposed to be released at 12:00 Beijing time on 2025-12-31. This converts to 23:00 Eastern time on 2025-12-30.

My mistake regarding the ski trip.
