The whole thing has strong fan-fiction vibes. I think the writer of story is a fantasist trying to do gritty reality, but unable to actually incorporate plausibility, and that’s fine. It disrupts my immersion, so the stakes dissolve, but I think it works as a reality-flavoured fairytale. I think I prefer minor-adult romance to be fairytales anyway. It has no place in reality.

I think that Jay figured out Sun is his Teddybear when he threw down the coins for the cigarette. The dismissive payment is just like that of the Teddybear. Even if he didn’t know for sure, he had a means to find out his name, and later about the ink, so uncertainty wouldn’t last long. Three people saw Sun topless is the studio, and if Pakin is a crony of Jay’s he might even know about the sun tattoo, and be on the lookout for it. If he isn’t Jay could ask the manager if he had any tattoos.
