On Duang with You Mar 17, 2026
I’m posting to give my take on Qin. In earlier discussion about Duang being ASD coded, I read, but mistook it as discussion of Qin. I’m AuDHD, and I’m so taken with Qin, as he’s coming across as me to a huge degree. It’s apparently been stated by the author that Duang is ASD-coded, but it’s Qin who shares all my traits. PDA, risk-aversion, change-aversion, blankness when not masking or mirroring, bluntness, occasionally averbal, bad at small talk and social niceties, and comes across best when one-on-one, just to name a few. There is more, but I’m losing interest. Anyway, Duang is a poppet, but I know I’d be shutting him down, and sometimes need to just walk away too. Qin is 100% relatable for me. It’s all attempts to avoid disregulation (losing his shit), and thus totally free of malice or cruelty, if Qin is really like me, so those concerned that Qin is a mean guy, could maybe see it that way, and empathise? anyway, that’s what I take away from him.

I just rewatched this. Again. This time on Gaga. It’s pretty much the same run-time as when it was serialised. I’d forgotten how gorgeous Sun Young is. I wish she’d do more.

is duang autistic??
He’s giving me two vibes. One is damage control. The other is ASD with PDA. I have both, and I’ve felt akin to him from the first episode. I’ve assumed he’s ASD+PTSD coded. I haven’t read the book, and it might just be the director’s embellishment, but it’s overt to me.

Edit: sorry. I’m referring to Qin. He’s resonating so strongly, I feel like he’s me.

I like dramas that include explicit statements of principles, like support and care for sex workers 👍

Because it’s slice of life and not story-driven, the whole thing is feeling very aimless. I was so bored with the first one I gave up. This one has a much better vibe, though I can’t pinpoint how, as I’ve blocked out the memory of the first one. It is an improvement though. For those who need story I don’t think it will work. It’s just the day to day life of a trio of boys and their handler staying with a friend in Japan. There’s a bit of gentle jealousy, but so far very little high drama. It’s showing off a prefecture, with a Thai slice of life BL overlay. I’m almost finished and it’s very chill. The friend they’re staying with is gorgeous. His rival is very pretty. The rest are handsome. The scenery is lovely. It’s all incredibly laid back and attractive, but there is zero oomph, unless you like surprisingly over-lit NC scenes. the lighting is flat, glaring and white. Whoever lit the house normally does the lighting in commercial kitchens, I think. It’s dreadful. The subtitles are off too. They talking about playing snowboards, rather than riding or boarding on them. They’re more like iQIYI captions, in terms of quality. I’m watching on Gaga, and normally their subtitles are pretty good.

It wasn’t, at all, very good until this last episode, which just gave me some hope it might go somewhere, other…
My take on the rating: It’s fluff, but it’s absurdly cute fluff. It’s incredibly wholesome, and the namesake is a walking set of green flags, so it’s also escapist perfection. I don’t think it’s a nine, but it leaves you in a bit of a pink mist, so you tend to overrate it if you score it still drifting on that state. It’s also nicely shot, and, if you like human spaniels, doesn’t put a foot wrong. It’s neither high art, nor substantial. It’s mind-candy.

Mix is having fun, chewing scenery and being gleefully bad. He’s good at it. Maybe he and Neo can tag team against the good guys.

I’d kind of like to know what Fluke’s role is going to be all about. I’ve got a soft spot for him.

Finally available outside Korea legally! You can watch it on the Shortime app = https://x.com/shortime01/status/2026228193586291024
it’s also available in Vigloo, which lets you watch it indefinitely, instead of only granting temporary access, like Shortime 👍

Sometimes, when people like most aspects of a show, but struggle with one, it’s not that simple.

i see ur point, but the whole point of this bl, specifically the genre of it is to be a light-hearted and sweet…
How does me expressing my perspective bring it down? If you disagree that’s fine, but my point of view is no less valid that a more approving one, and you don’t get to silence other members for holding different opinions. There’s nothing to stop you scrolling past dissenting views.
