'A Mother holds her children's hand for a while, their hearts forever...'
Over the past 8 years I have completed over 700 titles but have not added them yet due to lack of time. Will add recently completed dramas & movies for now.

Re-watching some very old Asian dramas from the 90's got me back into watching anime again which in turn got me into starting K-dramas, then J-dramas and C-dramas. Now I watch a mix of everything and attempting a few Thai dramas along the way.
Open to most genres and countries as long as the content captures my interest. Each country offers their own charms. My choices tend to be more on the mature or serious side and anything that's a little darker and edgy but I try to balance out with lighter choices in between.

Over hype on certain dramas makes them less appealing and due to that I can be quite selective. I like to invest my time more wisely with an aim to keep my drop list to a minimal. I am always on the look out for hidden and underrated gems.
When it comes to originality and creativity JAPANESE dramas and movies win hands down. They particularly excel in the slice of life genre e.g. Orange Days, Tonbi, Soredemo, Ikite Yuku, Asa Ga Kita , Sweet Bean, Door to Door. I love JAPANESE dramas for their diverse range of genres and their more unique/quirky stories cannot be found anywhere else.
I like KOREAN dramas for their high budget productions and they can be so addictive when the right drama comes along even if they are a little formulaic with a dash of cliches.
I enjoy CHINESE dramas for their tightly interwoven stories especially in their historical dramas.
I pick and mix between modern and historical CHINESE dramas.KOREAN dramas are great for extra glamour and sparkle in their productions. Eye candies are welcome!
WHAT I LIKE FROM DRAMAS & MOVIES: ❤
Cohesive and compelling narrative (natural flow of events and character development) /
Depth and realism where possible / Refreshing and Original stories / Believable 3-Dimensional characters which the viewers can connect or relate to / Interesting and unique plot twists / Deep themes and thought-provoking subjects / Memorable OSTs
WHAT I DISLIKE FROM DRAMAS & MOVIES: ✘ Poorly written characters (looking at you Cruel City...) / ✘ Contrived plots, anything that feels forced just because it's convenient /✘ Weak acting (particularly from male leads who are picked for their looks but lack acting abilities and experience e.g. My ID is Gangnam Beauty, A Love So Beautiful, Put Your Head on My Shoulder...) /
✘ Style over substance - It looks pretty on the outside but lacking on the inside.
What I have learnt from watching dramas:
Badly written scripts cannot be saved even with great acting.

My ratings simply reflect on how much I was entertained and the level of enjoyment. Feeling invested into the characters and stories are important factors as well as any lasting impressions like music, cinematography, acting and how satisfied I was overall.

PERSONAL RATING GUIDE
9 - 10 - Completely captured me! Drama/Movie with minimal flaws. Very engaging story with outstanding and memorable characters.
8 - 8.5 - Enjoyable to a moderate or high extent, overlooked some flaws.
7 - 7.5 - Pretty decent but not so memorable after a while.
6 - 6.5 - Average and quite boring. Trying not to press the fast forward button.
5, 4, 3 and below- Oops...I made a really bad choice.
Synopsis/summaries and genre will attract me first before the cast but certain actors and actresses I like will help influence my decision whether to give the drama or movie a priority.
Not limiting myself to only new/recent dramas I also like to watch older dramas.
I don't watch airing dramas but admire those who have the patience to wait for each episode.

My guilty pleasure
KAMENASHI KAZUYA
