What I like from
Dramas & Movies
Cohesive, compelling  and well written narrative/script (natural flow of events and character development with depth).
An ensemble of memorable cast where there are a range of diverse characters e.g. Prison Playbook, Jumong, Sky Castle, Nirvana in Fire, Reply 1988.
  Realism where possible, logical decision-making.
✓ Versatile acting (quiet/stoic characters can be subtly expressive and act well with depth and emotions if they are talented and experienced e.g. Jo Seung Woo in Stranger and Lee Sun Kyun in My Mister. I particularly enjoy watching these types of characters...)
  Consistent pacing.
  Refreshing and Original stories.
Believable 3-Dimensional characters who are well written.
Interesting and unique plot twists.
  Deep themes and thought-provoking subjects.
  Memorable OSTs.

Current Favourite OST

We All Lie - Sky Castle (K-Drama)

What I dislike from
Dramas & Movies
✘ Poorly written characters (looking at you Cruel City....) this includes irrational illogical child-like adult characters.
✘ Contrived plots, anything that feels forced just because it's convenient.
✘ Inconsistencies in the narrative/script (where things just doesn't make sense....)
✘ Weak acting (particularly from leads who are picked for their looks and popularity but lack acting abilities and experience e.g. My ID is Gangnam Beauty, A Love So Beautiful, Put Your Head on My Shoulder....)
✘ Forced humour and over the top comedy.
✘ Too many misunderstandings: all kinds (prolonged, frustrating, annoying, stupid...)
✘ Style over substance - It looks pretty on the outside but lacking on the inside.

What I have learnt from watching dramas
Badly written (lazy) scripts cannot be saved even with great acting or popular cast.
No drama is perfect but it's perfectly fine to overlook any flaws.
Keep expectations low.

My ratings simply reflect on how much I was entertained and the level of enjoyment. Feeling invested into the characters and stories are important factors as well as any lasting impressions from the acting, cinematography, the music/OSTs and how satisfied I was overall.  I score higher for stories which I find emotionally compelling and actors/actresses who portrayed their roles convincingly. High ratings do not always reflect high quality so I look out for the less known and not so popular titles which have not attracted the hype and I have found many hidden gems this way.

       Personal Rating Guide
9 - 10Completely captured me! Very engaging and well balanced story with minimal flaws. A memorable cast who delivered on performance with their characters. Most likely to have left an emotional impact.
8 - 8.5 Enjoyable to a moderate or high extent, overlooked some flaws.
7 - 7.5 - Pretty good and there was enough entertainment value to keep me interested but over time may not stay memorable.
6 - 6.5Average and underwhelming in many parts. Probably pressed the fast forward button more than a few times due to boredom. Likely flaws would be: Pacing too slow, bland characters, weak story or all three.
5, 4, 3 and below -  Oops....I made a really crap bad choice.  I don't rate titles I haven't completed.
