This drama is a decent attempt to incorporate fantastical, mysterious, modern, historical, comedic, tragic elements into one big pot. Who would have thought that a Demon and a Demon Hunter could be besties, and change each other’s perception of human or demonic nature? The concept of this drama was certainly intriguing.
The arcs are all self-contained, with a well-managed transition between past and present narratives. I don’t expect the best CGI, makeup, or props, and yes, some of the acting could be improved, but for a low-budget production, I believe it maximized its limited resources.
So we all guessed wrong she’s not an ex but she is a creepy as hell shop owner, but he saw right through her and read her to rights. Her stopping by to flirt didn’t seem to work either. But I really wish FL didn’t look so uncomfortable around ML. Like what did he do to her?
At first I thought after the empress died, she would disappear and only appears once in a while. But thankfully she doesn't. Xiao Che loves her deeply that he sees Jinli as Ci'er. The body is Jinli, but she is Ci'er.
p.s perhaps it is only me, but the actress playing the empress resembles He Xuanlin.

I'm glad with the ending. They went back to the first time they met. This time both have their memories and now they can start over. Ci'er doesn't have to marry Xiao Mo and becomes the empress 👍🏻 Perhaps it would've been this way if in the main lifetime Xiao Che took of his mask when Ci'er saved him.
My bad I didn't see the previous comments I was so deep in thought that I jumped straight to my keyboard. Ha ha! But we all have the same theories, Love it ! Can't wait to see the next episodes 😉
