Why are some people saying it's the best drama of the year? Because that's how they feel. of which they are entitled…
You described him well. He'd never known any love in his life and was bound to live a pitiful life and die just to guve birth into devil god.
I can understand why he's like that after falling but despite this understanding, I didn't like how his cunning manipulative nature turned into a mess after YXW's death. Those several eps. between her death and 500 yrs later were awful, I just skipped through them all. However I rather liked that despite having a devil bone, he didn't become a devil god this time.
All dramas aren't appealing to everyone, some more than the other, I guess it was in that category.
Aside from MLC having a satisfying ending, I agree with all you say. I think they were too scared of killing LLH…
This is an interesting take, staying alive just to seek justice for his fallen friends. I don'd mind his death (though I think they said he's alive) but I'd like it to be more obvious.
What?! They skipped? How can anyone really enjoy a story by skipping eps especially the last few. 🤯
Skip to see the ending. I think 20-30 minitues after package express, I saw the first reaction of ending here. The flew over to last 15 min of ep.40 to see who's in the epilougue.

That was the worst, did that stupid emperor even need such a potent medicine? He wasn't that badly hurt, was he?
Hmm. LLH making his peace with dying was one thing at the start and another thing at the end. If he still was happy to die, it was weird. Someone should've knocked him out and cure him either by the flower or his master's wife. 😅

They could hammer it into something not as tragic like giving her a power boost or something. This is my problem with this kind of stories, they create a poison that has no cure and even a so-so cure is hard to find. They must leave a way out for a logical survival ending.
I'm happy they didn't go with the novel ending either, drama was way better.
Actually I was talking here with some others about dropped rating in douban or somewhere last week and this was what we kind of feared. Taking their sweet time with comedy acts, lover shows, shipping, obsession, etc and rush the ending. Although more than only the ending was rushed imo.

If only DFS stayed and force that flowers down his throat🤦🏻♀️ Unrealistic cure is bad too. I remember his master's wife could save him but probably would die herself, yeah?
and why some people are saying this is the best drama of this year, atleast Mysterious lotus casebook is far better…
Aside from MLC having a satisfying ending, I agree with all you say. I think they were too scared of killing LLH on-screen and anger the viewers or lose rating, also didn't care to make a cure too so made it like that.
There's this saying "A mad throws a big rock into a well and a hundred wise can't bring it out!" This is the story of the 2nd prince here. He was banished to the border and instead of doing something reasonable about Beipan people to both redeem himself in front of his father and to make himself a hero for the people but what did he do? He was there for like 2 days and already schemed with them to attack his own country.(Not a good quality for a monarch)
Worse than that he brought them with himself and just told them attack five minutes later. Why so rushed? You can go there, change your travel clothes, stretch your legs, have a tea....THEN you can send the signal but no, he was one leg inside the gate and his attendant was already sending the signal. I was like WTH??😧😬
One other thing is that in this drama we had martial arts so advanced it was like watching a JiangHo drama with all these flyings, face changing, miraculous medicine, not dying of fatal wounds, etc (you know better) and people and messages all went around so fast like they sent emails and fax instead of pigeons and horses🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ but suddenly the most important message in this drama which could've saved them a lot of trouble takes normal realistic time, even longer than that, to reach the border.
AJTL has high quality writing but there are flaws that leaves a bitter taste in the viewers' mouth. IDK how to say it right but I feel there is an unbalancy beteeen the main plot and substories. We spent a lot of time on characters' study, romantic conversation, jokes, etc but things about the main plot were wrapped up very quickly like Empress' death reason, 1st prince's set up and death in ep.27, An Di's exposure and Ruyi's 2nd death and lastly this Beipan attack. Those people first appeared in ep. 18 or 19 iirc, they could make it a more detailed and flashed out plot but left it for nearly 20 eps. only to bring them back rushly to have an epic last fight.
I really don't mind about deaths in shows but the manner of it is important for me and I've got a feeling I'm not going to like them much here.
Based on his name in cast list I'd guessed he'd be their son. They said CY got a son and I was wondering about that. Turns out they'd seen them together.
