Yes 👍 HL also had growth, but here there were so many difficulties and different relationships with different characters that it felt like on another level with the personal growth.

I think this is also one of her best for sure, as we get to see Shaoshang during a very long journey so there is plenty of time to see Lusi express a lot of different emotions 👏

I mean if you don't care about not understanding references to previous events and characters, or how counters and evil spirits get their powers then I guess no. You can try and see if you find it interesting without having seen season 1.
