This season seemed to be a set up for season 3. I just now got around to watching S2, having watched S1 when it aired. I think that mightve been a big reason why i didnt mind this season. If you go straight from S1 to S2, itll probably be jarring. The vibe feels different, the main characters dont appear at all for many episodes. Episode after episode solely focusing on other characters past. Theres no clear "goal". Which is why i say this is just character/world building to set up S3. As a stand alone season, its decent. I liked Chen Duo, i liked the new characters. As a continuation of S1 - its not great. Took me a while to remember what had happened in S1, the season barely touches on that. the middle was dragging. The "villain" was boring. I dont think 3-4 episodes is required for 1 characters backstory in the middle of a 13 ep drama.. hopefully S3 will be better and with the same actors.
Honestly they couldve just cut out the modern life and solely focus on the great-grandmother, her era, the brothel and her love. Still a great watch! Will probably rewatch again
The cinematography carried this film. The lighting was beautiful - the overhead shot of the car driving through the manila streets is gorgeous. The plot is predictable, its one that has been done a million times over in action films. This story offers nothing new/different and lacks depth. I dont speak tagalog, so idk if its the english translation, but the dialogue was bad. The conversations felt very "fake". The script is poorly written. Everything is muddled up, many things just dont make sense. you feel like youre missing context - it seems that theyve cut out so many scenes just to fit the 1 hour run time?? The end of the villian is terrible. The ending in general is bad. The main acting was bearable. The side acting was bad.
The cinematography and Piolos gorgeous face are the only things worth your time lol.
If you truly loved someone, you wouldnt have let them become a demon. Being selfish isnt love. The 2 previous lives…
The ending was frustrating!!!! Johnrey sacrificed everything just to stop the curse, he couldnt be with felicity and was buried alive for nearly 100years - all that just for Jonathan to ruin it all... they all warned him. The Priest told him living with the creature was a fate worse than death for his mother, to not do that to Agnes. Jonathan learned nothing. Now Agnes resents him, the curse lives on and hes a demon thats gotta go killing?
Wouldve preferred to have cut out the modern day plot completely and soley focus on the past 2 lives, maybe even include more on the lore of the families and the creature.
If you truly loved someone, you wouldnt have let them become a demon. Being selfish isnt love. The 2 previous lives were much more interesting than the modern day Jonathan. I wish it was just about them 2 (Juan and Johnrey). The ending was (in comments) Piolo is a goodlooking man but his acting has always been ok at best. here he shined more as the killer preist and Jonfrey. The digital fx were really bad lol. The horror aspect was lacking with cheap jumpscares but the plot was interesting. Loosely based on a true filipino serial killer - the paranormal aspects obviously not based on the true events. With everything, i did enjoy this film!
Hard to describe this film. Theres no past, no future - just Lang Er living in the present. Despite the very little dialogue, so much is felt and understood. Imo theres little to no rewatch value, once is enough, maybe a rewatch in the future. Im glad to have watched this movie, enjoyed it more than i thought i would.
Sun young was ungrateful af. Her brother raised her, did everything for her, sacrificed so much to protect/help…
Dumped Taejoo for a family that made her a widow? A single mum? Killed her babys father? That ran her over and almost cost her and her babys life? She never reached out to her brother for 30 years? Jeez poor taejoo tried so hard to protect them all, but ended up alone.
Sun young was ungrateful af. Her brother raised her, did everything for her, sacrificed so much to protect/help her. Yet she always thought the lowest of him.. She thought was that Taejoo was angry because he was jealous of her for having a father?? Taejoo raised her and yet she so easily dumped him for her "dad" that she just met that day?
Drama began strong, however the last 2 episodes started to drag a lil. Until the last 5 minutes! Omg what a plot twist! That cliffhanger made the finale worth watching. I hope this season was just a setup for a banging season 2. Jittri is a flawed woman. She did some terrible things, sacrificed victims for her own gain, but i appreciate that she was not a holier than thou character. Shes a not good person, playing a corrupt system filled with evil people. I get it? Again, hoping for a season 2!
The drama had a lot of potential in the beginning episodes but completely fell apart in the last 3-4 eps. Probably should have been a movie instead of 10eps. Hoyeongs "6 month planning" failed the minute he hit the kid... i dont understand how he expected the accident not to get back to him? The 3 main villains had no real punishment.. an open ending only to push a 2nd season thats not needed or wanted. Sanghyeok began the season being carefree, no remorse, violent and ended the season exactly the same? Faced 0 consequences. Idk why he couldnt just die with hoyeong? Eun was old enough to know how violent her family was.. i mean she was at Sanghyeoks trial? The judges flip-flopping actions in the last 3 episodes was confusing and pathetic. - i mean alot of the characters actions in the drama made no sense. Everyones acting was great! The plot point was interesting and had potential but was let down by the poor writing.
One of my favourite romance dramas of all time. Rewatched it again, now that its on netflix.
The only negative for me was how dismissive everyone was about Rumiko. Poor girl had to watch everyone play matchmaker with her man. She deserved better than Shinji. He never apologized or made up for what he did either. The writer just put them back together and never addressed Shinjis behaviour. Ryoko was right - Shinji never had to sacrifice anything, he did and got what he wanted.
So much of what makes this drama great, is what Modern romance dramas lack. The tension/yearning without the story running in circles for 16 episodes. The adults acting like adults (in many ways other than the romance) The female lead being flawed but likeable - funny/strong-willed without being portrayed as ridiculous/annoying or weak. The story and characters feel human.
Just me theorising - but during the flashback we see Siwon shaman mum tell hyerong that all you need is a strong intention and alot of blood for the "spell" and thats how hyerong creates the apps supernatural aspect. In the end episode, Nari yells her intention "i was you all to die" with anger and also has alot of blood shed from her and se-ah.
So im guessing, the original spell with Siwon has been destroyed, but now Nari hatred/jealousy has fueled a new game. Her phone holds the app with her wish - so the now her phone has replaced siwons phone. Idk whats happened to her body tho.. there were no flowers so probably not dead? Honestly se-ah was so damn naive thinking nari could be saved. That girl was a nasty friend even before the app.
I have a question. Is anyone watching a fan of rugby aswell?? & do you think this show is fairly realistic? I love rugby and YKS, but if its portrayal of rugby is so bad/laughable - i wont be able to watch? 🫣 im not expecting perfection but atleast watchable ig? Ty.
Are we already living is such a dystopian society where we have accepted to censor ourselves and use idiotic words…
Its because social media either deletes your page/post or censor the creators if they say the "real" word. So to get around that ppl have moved to saying "unalive" / "grape" its not hard to understand why its this way. Its also not that deep.
FL mother is jobless, not contributing to paying off her husbands debt or even rent.. but has the nerve to complain about staying in a cheap hostel and selling off her luxury bags... ?
i wonder how Lee Min Soo has come back from the future aswell? *assuming the obvious hints of him being like Hee Woo, turn out correct?*
also considering HW is saving so many peoples lives (the people who should've died), i wonder how thats going to affect this current timeline. Will everyone he saved still die in the end? or will it be someone unexpected? someone who didnt die in his previous lifetime. *i have a feeling seung wan might die.... i hope im wrong?*
ikr like sometimes i really get frustrated with lakorn cuz u have the typical hateful cliche where the ml abuses…
100%. it takes away from the experience of watching these dramas when people commit some serious crimes like abuse/murder but face no punishment because they said sorry?. Writers should understand that they can write a redemption arc for the "villians" and still have them face the punishment for abusing othere people.
