Title Lovely Runner Spoiler
May I know if the debate on whether Sunjae was killed or committed suicide in the first timeline was explained?
Quote from the writer:
"Sun Jae's first death was not a suicide. The script originally contained scenes portraying the autopsy and police inquiry, which were ultimately omitted from the broadcast.
I believe that if all of those scenes had been aired, it would have made it too obvious that it was murder. This could have led to viewer frustration as the witnessed Sol Repeatedly going back to the past, under the mistaken belief that Sunjae had taken his own life.
The beginning of episode 9 solves the mystery. Wearing the same outfit as in episode 1, Sunjae stands on the terrace of his hotel suite and gets into a fight with Youngsoo, who has stolen the master key and broken into the room. The only difference is whether Sunjae has drunk alcohol and taken depression medication.
I deliberately recreated the identical situation and used identical directing to enable viewers to deduce what happened in episode 1. Later, Sol says, "Sunjae died because of me," and I believed this line would further clarify the situation.
I saw a comment suggesting that Sunjae was unable to resist in episode 1 due to medication intake, whereas in episode 8, he was able to fight back because he had not taken his medication. Yes! That's right! That's the answer!"

This was my own personally theory after seeing the chloroformed cloth in episode 9's flashback to the hotel altercation. I had gotten into many heated debates on this site and in instagram reel comment sections because people kept saying it was suicide when it wasn't and it was making me feel a certain kind of way that people weren't paying attention to the actual direction of the show.
There are a lot of things the writer and the director didn't spoon feed the audience. The fact that Sol stayed close to Taesung in the final timeline because she wanted to protect Sunjae. She got close to Taesung's father and told him about Youngsoo BEFORE he was able to murder his first victim. She wrote a letter to herself to explain things to her past self & would have gone back to the past two more times and stayed away, but because this story was about Sunjae and Sol's love for one another and not really about the time slipping, showing those scenes of Sol continuing to avoid Sunjae would have been too repetitive and slowed down they're reunion in present day.

Sunjae and Sol were both selfless when it came to protecting/saving the other. He dove into that reservoir to save Sol with a very freshly healed shoulder with no thought to his own safety. She after seeing news of his death Sol would have done anything to save the person that saved her life(from suicide on the day of the solar eclipse). Those thoughts plus the water are the triggers to making the watch work the first times.

Also Blue=Water=SunJae; Yellow=Sunshine/Happiness=Sol

Their press tour for The Princess Royal really clinched the need for them in a modern show together. The chemistry was chemistrying. We deserve this after putting up with the sickly Victorian Wormtongue of a 2ML getting the ML's scenes in TPR. (if you know you know)

Saw a papped kiss scene in a car and...holy hell I will be shocked as all hell if that kiss makes it past the censorship board. I needed a minute to stop giggling.

Hey Madeline! It's been a while :)You were right about NF- the subs are slightly different🙊I'm at ep 5 at the…
Hey, so glad to see you're still checking the page!
Summer is my busy season at work so although I been watching a lot of things I haven't really been actively commenting on shows as much as I normally would. I also needed to protect my mental health and happiness and the comment section was becoming a battle ground of drama that I, as a 34 year old woman, just do not have time for.
But all of my pre-ordered Lovely Runner things have started to come in so I was doing a check-in of the comment section. Photo Essay, Script books etc...merch is in transit at the moment. The script will be poured over once I have more time to sit and read it. Google Lens coming in clutch. I know some Hangul, but reading long bits is extremely difficult for me.

A part of me wants to rewatch it on Netflix to see how they translated it. Because Netflix is notorious for mistranslating or leaving out important context. aka they wont indicate formal in informal speech. and other things. Cause if we have murky translations it leads to murky understanding of the overall story.

Some like to believe their fav drama is superior so they like to think all the hype and popularly LR got was because…
Glad to still see you in the comments of this one. I took a pause because of all the negative people coming in...they didn't have to watch the show if they hated it that much tbh. So I just quietly waited for my scripts to arrive and oh boy oh boy... the validation I feel after reading the Q&A from the writer is so huge. The show was truly made for the millennial girlies.

I just needed to come on here & say I finally got my copies of the scripts with the Q&A from the writer & my theories were all right and I couldn't be more freaking pleased. literally running to a family memeber who also watched the show & reading the responses out loud in victory.

This show has a high rating, but every review a read is quite low. The comments don’t seem that promising either,…
the trolls came out after the drama ended because they didn't like that it had a high rating. go into the discussions or if your up to it keep scrolling until you hit the as it was airing comments. I never ended up writing an in-depth review as I had pretty much written multiple essays and thesis on the show. it is extremely worth it if you like kdramas. if you ever get lost I broke down a complete timeline with some details as to the references made in the past timelines. at the very least watch the first 2 episodes and decide from there whether to continue.

I just wanna know why that killer wants to kill sol. And they don't show that killer kills another person than…
she simply was in his hunting/dumping ground at the wrong moment. then she became a witness. the motive never mattered as Kim Young Soo never really mattered. he was just a catalyst for the love story of Sun Jae & Sol. they chose to save the life of someone else even at the risk of their own life. this is a romance, not a murder mystery. the victims are who are important when a crime is committed..."the killer is just a social misfit & loser, not a monster to be afraid of."

So I just finished. I was taking my time with the last three episodes because I just didn't want the story to end. It was so good and they kept up the cinematography and overall vibe throughout the show which is impressive. I do wonder if they will be producing a season 2 with the same cast in the future. Small spoiler....it's very open ended and there are many stories that have no conclusion. I don't know how long sequels usually take, but with the production team and half of this cast working on a different project together I figure it will be some time before they start for a season 2. With the lead actors being as booked and busy as they are, is there actually any hope that they will come back to finish out their characters' stories?

On Your Sensibility My Destiny Jul 31, 2024
Watching this drama I could immediately tell it was made by the same team behind 'The Eternal Love' and 'The Love by Hypnotic'.(the ost was my first clue) They use the exact same locations and props from those two dramas as well as some of the wardrobe being reused for secondary characters.
The plot is also extremely similar to TEL. Sister of the FL in love with the bad guy who is the elder brother of the ML who are princes. The actor playing the Emperor is the same in all three dramas. Younger prince idolizes his middle brother and falls in love with someone close to the FL. ML is cold to everyone but the FL, and is thought to be heartless by others etc. Wise yet bumbling older man close to the FL. ML's illness can only be cured by FL. There are a few other similarities and I'm sure I've missed even more as it's been about 5ish years since I watched The Eternal Love.

Although I've enjoyed all three productions I can't help but to feel like the writer is very...one note. They pretty much just change minor things but overall outline and all the characters and their personalities stays the same. These productions also seem under staffed...I'm talking about background actors and supporting roles. It all feels very small...like the capital only has 100 people in it instead of multiple thousands. The Eternal Love was one of the first Cdramas I ever watched so I didn't notice it then, but after watching many more productions it is EXTREMELY clear that these were made on a much much lower budget than most period dramas.
So if you like the music and styling from The Eternal Love you'll enjoy this, but don't expect anything new. WXY was just a baby in this so he wasn't dubbing his own voice in post yet. Still a great performance, and I can see his growth as an actor even within just a few years.

It's releasing this week
I've been scrolling through older comments and just sending out word, cause I realized a lot of people don't check the calendar tab weekly. Honestly, my favorite aspect of MLD is the calendar because of how random China is with release dates.
